Rose City Liquor Store

I was a little disappointed on the selection after reading all the great reviews. I guess if you just want the basics they’ll have them in stock as well as some micro brands.
Not a bad selection, I just had false hopes from the other reviews.

We go to this liquor store often because it’s on our way home they always have a good selection and everybody in there seems knowledgeable.
the only thing that sucks is the parking and how you have to go down the right street just to get to it… other than that same as any other liquor store

Rose City Liquor is definitely the place for all your imbibing needs on NE Sandy. I always hated those liquor stores that have all their liquor behind the counter. I enjoy browsing and looking at the bottles close up. I hardly ever know what brand I want when I go to the liquor store. Rose City has a nice open floor plan with a great selection. The staff here is nice too. FYI they did just get new credit card machines like our Canadian friends up north that check your credit card chip. It’s a little slower than our traditional «swipe» method, but I guess we’re more secure for it.

I would describe Rose City Liquor Store as pleasant. My husband and I went here to buy some booze for our upcoming New Year’s Eve party, and the employees were friendly and conversational. A representative was giving free samples of a Chicago-​based whiskey that was quite delicious.
There is plenty of private and street parking, and the store itself is clean. They were also playing some good music in the background.
Like I said, it’s a pleasant place to go for liquor.

My uncle saw that I was in Portland, and requested me to go buy some liquor for him since it’s cheaper here than in WA. I said ok, and again checked on Unilocal to see which liquor stores were nearby and open on a Sunday. I saw Rose City was nearby, so my friends and I came here. They carry a pretty big variety of alcohol. I asked the sales guy about Cordon Bleu, which was what my uncle wanted. He was nice about letting me take pictures of the alcohol to send to my uncle to make sure that it was what he wanted. We were able to get in and out pretty quickly. I would come back here if I was in the area again.

Best liquor store in town. Employees are super knowledgable and always interested in helping you find what you need. Plus they have the largest selection of Tequila in the state.
Also, they always have special deals and promotional items from liquor companies. And they have cool novelty bottles and items that make good gift items.
Definitely try it out!

Good variety, friendly staff. 4 stars bc the prices are a little high. Better to have a store with these kind of hours, 7 days a week. Very professional with several employees present, dressed a like and watching who comes in and out.

Great place compared to our independent liquor store in Washington! I paid $ 31.95 for 1.75L Jose Cuervo tequila. Its $ 46 with tax in Lynnwood at Safeway. Update! Great selection on bourbon and even stocks Titos Vodka! Helpful friendly staff that makes buying booze fun again. Only improvement besides needing a bigger store and parking lot would be to accept my American Express card!

Hands down my favorite place to get booze in PDX, the only reason I don’t give them five stars is the fact that the parking lot is so damn small! It’s even a problem when I’m walking.

Always well stocked with lots of variety of every liquor and liqueur. The staff are all friendly and happy to help guide you in the right direction if your not sure what you want exactly. Also the hours are great, I think they work for just about every kind of schedule.

This liquor store is open 7 days a week and is open late mon-​sat 9am-​9pm.

Washington voters are now realizing that they went in with hammers and smashed to bits a perfectly good retail solution. Why did you guys think that a Safeway or Costco could offer as vast a selection as your typical WSLCB store? Of course, not only is selection now limited in Washington (even if liquor is available in more locations), prices are overall higher now too, on an average of 25 to 30 percent.
Oregon voters, don’t you make the same mistake.
It was here this past weekend that I discovered New Deal Distillery’s Portland Dry Gin No. 3. Dang, this stuff is impeccable! Bright and fresh, not too junipery. Try it with Campari. You will not be sorry!
And Rose City Liquor is open until 8 on Sundays.

It looked like they had a pretty good selection of booze but I was looking for wine… RCL doesn’t sell wine and now you know.

Wha? No liquor on New Year’s Eve? Somebody was hitting papa’s booze stash when he was out of town! Well, there was no way I was going to toast in ’11 with grape Kool-​Aid. Hurry, kids! Everybody into the Family Truckster for trip to the liquor store!
The parking lot at Rose City Liquor was packed. They had some guy in a reflecto-​vest standing outside to direct traffic. He was furiously waving me into the lot, but there was no way I was going to maneuver into that tight space. Hell, no. I parked out on the street instead. Walking up to the door, I was dreading the line inside, but the cashiers were moving ‘em through with Swiss clockmaker-​like precision. They were doing it with smiles on their faces, too.
I grabbed a few bottles of the hardest hard liquor within reach. My favorites: Kraken Rum, Wild Turkey, Patron. Yeah, I was going to get my drank on. They have a pretty good selection at Rose City Liquor. I must go back when I have some time to leisurely peruse the choices.
Of course, who do you think ended up the official New Year’s DD? Yeah, that would be me. Keeping my loved ones safe is more important than ending the old year with multiple shots of tasty, tasty booze. Sigh.

My local liquor store. I noticed the uptick in reviews and now I know why. They moved off Fremont onto Sandy and have a big sign. Same great selection. Same nice and helpful folks who run it. One of the few stores where you can actually touch the merchandise AND as mentioned before … OPEN SUNDAYS.
S.U. and I were finishing bowls of Phở at Phở Vinh and she reminded me of the low level of our cabinet’s, soon to be required, seasonal spirits. So we crossed Sandy and walked into the spacious and well stocked store. Great selection of top and bottom shelf booze. Now we won’t get stuck. We’re stoked to be stocked! Cheers!

The steady thunder of foot traffic rocks the store like a packed stadium for a Sunday afternoon monster truck rally.
I appreciate the new nicer location and improved selection. But there’s still only one reason for non-​neighbors to come here.

Whoa! Rose City Liquor has some new (ish) digs! And they have a ton of new products!
Oh yes, we finally have a liquor store on this side of town that carries harder to find spirits, special order, and one-​time-​buy deals. While I’m still going to have to go downtown for stuff like Carpano Antica and similar, the ability to snag Aperol and the like closer to home is a major plus. And noting the type of stock available here, I wouldn’t be surprised if the likes of Carpano will soon be on the shelves here anyway.
OLCC liquor store reviews can be pretty mundane: «Oh they sell booze at state-​set prices during limited hours…», but here and there certain stores like this one and Pearl Specialty break the mold and stay open late, open on Sundays, and carry a wide selection of product that they have to work very hard to get.
I stopped in recently to browse the selection and saw all sorts of fun stuff including almost a full compliment of Del Maguey mezcal, a fine scotch selection, small craft-​brand whiskies, a decently robust shochu offering, all sorts of local products, an intense selection of brandies, and a very surprisingly solid collection of apertifs, digestifs and other liqueurs.
Props to the folks running this store for taking the time and care to offer stuff that goes beyond the major brands and has some flair to it.

Good selection for a medium sized store. Very friendly staff. Decent amount of parking. As a new Oregonian I am still adjusting to your Draconian liquor laws but I’m glad to have this place nearby.
It’s close to the Safeway so if you have liquor on your shopping list it’s not a far jaunt.
