I’m so happy with my car right now. I let the transmission problems get so bad I almost sold my old Subaru. I just got it back from river city Transmissions and it drives like new again. Scott was easy to deal with and stayed late for me to pick my car up after work. I payed less than if I had gone to one of the bigger shops in town.

A few months back I took my new (used) truck to Larry’s Transmissions on Foster Rd. He had it 10 minutes and said I needed a rebuilt tranny for $ 3000. I took my truck to Scott at River City Transmission and after 5 minutes he said all I needed was to replace a broken rear U joint for under $ 200.00. The truck runs perfect.
Today Scott replaced the factory trans oil cooler with one 4 times the the size of the factory to eliminate an overheating problem. Cost? Just what he estimated — $ 250.00. Great mechanic with fair prices who is moving into the old Larry’s Transmission location because they went out of business. Gee, I wonder why???

I just moved to Portland and cold called this shop when my transmission died on my Hyundai. Scott was able to find a used transmission from another car and replace the whole thing for $ 1400 including labor with a 6 month warranty. Another shop wanted $ 2500 to rebuild and install one. He then serviced the transmission on our Mercedes R350 and saved us $ 150 compared to the dealer. He is honest and I totally trust him to give great service at a very fair price. He returns calls promptly and is pleasant to deal with. I would go back to him again in a second.
