Rick’s Wild Seafood is a food cart located near Ninja Plate, Big A** Sandwiches and Flavour. Sorta near the waterfront and where Portland Saturday Market is held. + Fast service + Yummy fish tacos! They were cooked to perfect crispiness and lovely seasoning and sauce! I can’t wait to try their other seafood offerings! I would definitely eat here again!

I loved this cart! The Alaskan caught fish tasted very fresh, was served up piping hot and crispy with great fries/chips. There was a wait because this cart is pretty popular and there was one lone rockstar of a fish fryer running the whole operation. This is some great food coming from a cart.

I’ve been here twice with work peeps. The first time, they were running an all-you-can-eat fish and chips for $ 7. No way! So that was what brought us in, and brought us back. But the second time they’d stopped the deal — probably for the best. The first time we had to wait around for 45 minutes while they made a second helping for the 3 people who’d gotten it. They had to close the cart front while they waited for more fish. Did I mention we went at 11:30? So they weren’t really prepared. But running that deal is just asking for trouble… Probably they were trying to drum up some new customers. But overall, the food was quite good, an excellent value and portion for $ 6. Decent fish, yummy coleslaw and fries(I like mine on the softer side). I got the fish tacos the first time and they were ehhhh. I was regretful about not getting the fish and chips. So they serve tasty food for pretty cheap, and are nice enough with their service. But the thing that does concern me the sustainability of their fish. I know, I know — it’s a cart. How much can I expect? And especially for such low prices… I do assume the«wild» in the name does not necessarily mean wild-caught… I guess I would just like to know where their fish(cod, snapper, halibut) is from(Pacific, Atlantic), and how it’s caught(wild-caught, trawl, hook-and-line, gillnet, etc).

Rick(I think) must be the friendliest food cart guy around! Four stars for that. One off for french fries, while really good, were not the absolute best. Oh all right then, an extra star for being a really nice guy.

I work late nights downtown on the weekends and this cart is pretty great. My favorite is the Halibut fish and chips. Fresh cut fries or tots hit the spot. The staff is always friendly and upbeat even in cold weather, impressive. The clam chowder, while not a traditional New England Clam chowder is spicy and very tasty.

Rick, your product needs a little work. Your batter isn’t cooked all the way through and there is no crispyness to your fish. It was moist, but mostly due to being undercooked. The slaw was above average, maybe a little more mayo? And the fries… fries are supposed to be crunchy!!! If you are doing one thing(which you should be doing), you should do it well, and in this case, meh.

I was pretty disappointed in this place. The people are really friendly, but seemed unprepared for early traffic. I ordered the clam chowder, which is actually more like a soup. It wasn’t thick and it was a little spicier than I expected. What really did it for me was that the cashier tipped himself. I think it’s pretty presumptuous to take a dollar out of my change and throw it in the tip jar. If you want another dollar, raise your prices, don’t take it out of my change. I’m not a cheap bastard and tip, but I’m not going back. Lame.

We stopped here today after a successful trip to the music store up the street. Husband wasn’t even hungry, but he was so tempted by the sign and the enticing prices that we stopped anyway. $ 6 bought a salmon burger topped with coleslaw and enough tater tots to share with moi. The angel faced gentleman slinging fish was cheery and polite. He gave no grief when asked if tots could be subbed for fries. He dished up seafood stew samples(alas, the weather was not permissive of hot soup today.) Husband’s sandwich came out quickly, I imagine it would take longer on a weekday when the downtown business class is released for lunch. Still it would have been worth waiting in line. Burger was served rarish, as is my taste. Tots were piping hot. Tapatío abounded. I would give five stars but everything was fried and I am weak stomached around batter.

A full-on fish and chips cart has opened up next to The Empress downtown. Look for the giant fish atop a cart(see photo). This is my first experience with a dedicated seafood cart — very exciting! They have a lot of fish options(red snapper, salmon, halibut, cod) in a lot of different styles(fish ‘n’ chips, tacos, sandwiches). They also have corn dogs. The fish quality is good and the batter is full of herbs and tasty. I opted for the red snapper fish ‘n’ chips($ 5.50, Halibut is $ 8) today. It was an okay-sized portion, but I had a little craving for more food. I think it’s a fair price for fish ‘n’ chips, though. Right now they’re settling in, so expect a little wait. I’m confident this will go away with time. The fries that came with my basket tasted a little like fish, which is the only major thing I hope they correct. They have a couple tables to sit at outside, which was awesome one this nice day. Welcome to the food cart scene!
