Will not return. I love bibimbap so I got their bibimbap wrap. All flavors were overpowered by a really mediocre tangy/spicy sauce that I think they cooked the beef in. There was so much of it that it came not just dripping but practically streaming out the bottom of the wrap and onto the floor once I took a few bites. Pass and hit up the food carts on 4th Ave or in the park blocks.

I got a bibimbap today, I have been here many times, and it was way different than the other times I have come in. There was only spinach/carrots on it and the meat was really dry. I got the impression that they changed ownership/managment. Disappointment.

I realize its Rice Junkies we are talking about here. I did not go in expecting a culinary miracle. For 7 bucks though, I would at least hope for something edible. I ordered a yakisoba bento bowl with veggies and chicken with spicy sweet chili sauce to fuel my finals studying rampage. What an unfortunate experience for my palate. The noodles were old and dry. The chicken was a dry, gray unrecognizable protein pile. The veggies consisted of some cabbage along with 1 little piece of broccoli, 1 carrot, and 1 piece of zucchini. The sauce was miserable. Even the smell was nauseating. I tried to mix in some other sauces to liven up the dry noodles but it didn’t blend well. Being the poor college student I am I had two options; eat it, or starve. I scraped away the scary chicken stuff and gulped down enough of the sauceless veggies to get me through another chapter of homework and threw the rest away. I felt a real loss of dignity having to force feed myself that disgusting poo pile. Did I mention the 1 and only place to eat in there is a tiny awkward counter bar facing away from the employees? At least I could suffer in private. How about the christian radio station playing songs about Jesus in the background? Rice Junkies. Welcome to Hell.

I used to be a regular customer at this place but since they changed the owner I don’t think the flavor was the same anymore. Not gonna come back ever again:(

I still haven’t decided on who is going to get my vote in the 2016 presidential race, but I do know that Rice Junkies gets my vote as a place to go get a healthy, tasty, and reasonably-priced meal on the PSU Campus. It’s right across the streetcar tracks from Pizzicato Pizza and sort of catty-cornered next-door-ish to a Ben and Jerry Ice Cream Shop and a Starbucks. Very easy to get to for students and commuters alike. It’s been not quite two years since my last visit there and a lot has changed. It’s still in the same location, but has been renovated. The last time I was there it was a not so modern, but very clean and seemingly more DIY. Now it’s all bright and shiny with a better seating area up against the wall and has a far more professional and commercial look with new signage, kitchen, and new ordering system(you can order using a hand-held menu to mark up with Sharpies) and either hand your order to the very sweet couple who appear to own the restaurant or give the order to them verbally. Either way they check on everything you order to make sure it’s accurate before starting to make your order up. I had teriyaki chicken, which is served in quite generous amounts, with your choice of brown or white rice and sauce. I love that they have the sauces in plastic squeeze bottles to doctor up your order the way you want it to be. The portion of chicken you’re given is thigh meat that is tender and juicy. Very comforting and filling for a rainy evening. I also ordered a Mexican wrap another evening, and that dish is fairly bursting with goodies(guac, rice, beans, veggies, sour cream, etc.) and extremely tasty. The two folks who run the restaurant know the names of a lot of their customers and greet them warmly, but those of us who don’t get back as often are greeted the same way. Like I said it is all very clean and very attractive since they did some reno work on the restaurant. Food is prepped ahead and orders come out quickly. You can sit there and either read and enjoy the quiet or talk with the owners. All in all a fine experience with a quality product. I urge you to vote for Rice Junkies as a place to eat and then return to again and again in what is left of 2015 and then again in 2016. Enjoy!

I’ve been eating at RJ for years but I think I’m finally going to quit it. It’s not gourmet food,(not to mention that there’s really only one menu item that they put different sauces on) but it tastes good, gets served quickly and isn’t overly expensive. An apparent change in management has resulted in less friendly staff, smaller portions and an occasional accidental overcharge. I recommend walking past the building the next time you think about going until you get to the carts on 4th Avenue. You’ll get better food for about the same price.

What’s not to love about Rice Junkies? It’s cheap, yummy, and super fast Asian food right in the middle of PSU’s campus. It may not be a must-try foodie destination, these guys are very good at what they do. The majority of the Rice Junkies menu is either Bento or Wraps, and they’re all fully customizable. Choose from rice(white or brown) or noodles, an array of sauces, and a variety of protein options. Options range in influence from Korean to Japanese to «I don’t know what this is, but it’s definitely Asian.» Most everything is $ 9 or less. I particularly enjoy the speed with which these guys get food out. Even during the prime lunch rush when nearby restaurants and food trucks have 20 minute waits, I’m always in and out of Rice Junkies in less than 5 minutes. Good food. Good price point. Great customer service. Excellent location. I’m a fan.

Whenever I get the jonesing for rice and meat, Rice Junkies is my go-to place, especially since one of my twice a week classes is just upstairs. There are so many options: chicken, beef, spicy pork, curry, teriyaki, peanut sauce, with veggies, brown or white rice, yakisoba… And all these can go in a wrap, too, but I prefer the regular bento dish. My favorite is a toss-up between the spicy pork and the teriyaki beef. The owners are very nice, even though the female owner/manager seems aloof sometimes. They’re all so friendly and the service is fast. They have a good assortment of sauces on the counter — I love me some hot chili sauce — to add onto your bento. Is it the best bento ever? No. But the prices are reasonable(between $ 6 – 8), the service is fast and friendly, and the dishes are nice and filling. I’m a rice junkies junky.

Really delicious! Good amount of sauce of veggies and meat, and lots of choices to pick from. The curry sauce was delicious, chicken cooked to perfection, and the veggies were still nice and crisp. Will definitely go back and try more options.

We tried the chicken yakisoba and beef with white rice bowl today. All the ingredients are fresh and tasty but a little bit colder than expected. This could be much better if served hot. Anyway, it’s still one of the best one could get with only 6 or 7 bucks.

Great Korean/Japanese street food for the area. It is not fine dining here, but just simple food.

With limited time for lunch and a hankering for some tofu n rice deliciousness I stopped by Rice Junkie. The menu seemed large enough and offered up many sauce options, I opted for the curry with tofu. Let’s just say this place has a low overhead on costs and it reflects in the food. For $ 6 I got some flavorless, uncooked chunks of tofu, a few good scoops of rice cooker cheap as hell rice and a ladle of curry sauce. The least they could do is throw in some veggies for that price(veggies and tofu costs extra) and actually cook the tofu. Bland and overpriced.

Good food, always tastes fresh and the veggies are good. Plenty of food for the price. Super fast and friendly service! Definitely my quick lunch of choice when I’m down at PSU.

I have always been an avid browser of Unilocal, but today I was«inspired» by Rice Junkies to create an account. Conveniently located next to the PSU Rec Center, Rice Junkies is a quick and easy stop for most students to grab a bite between classes. The service is quick and the staff is nice. That’s not the problem. The problem is the food. Served hot and smelling good, you’d think that the food would be delicious. It was not. I’ve had one of their rice and beef bentos before, and that wasn’t the greatest, but it was palatable. The steamed vegetables were tough and the meat was lacking, and for the price, I had decided not to return again. Today I was running to an appointment, and out of desperation, I decided to give Rice Junkies another chance. I went for the yakisoba, because it’s nearly impossible to get yakisoba entirely wrong. Figured it was a safe bet. I have never had such terrible chicken yakisoba in my entire life. Now, I did grow up in Japan and Hawaii, so maybe I’m a little bit biased when it comes to Asian food, but come on. $ 6 for a tiny 3“x8″ plate of noodles, topped with a skewer of 3 pieces of chicken. The chicken was well-sized, but dry and tasteless. The noodles were also extremely dry and/or chewy. There was nothing else in the dish to help make it «yakisoba,» just noodles and chicken skewer. The drizzle of thick, salty, generic teriyaki sauce over the top helped a little bit, but not nearly enough to call either the chicken or the noodles«good.» I had to force myself to swallow it down so that it wasn’t an entire waste of money. I can’t believe I’m saying this, but I can’t believe the workers inside were Asian. You’d think they’d never tasted their own food before. Rice Junkies may be passable to those who have never experienced good Asian food before, but I would not recommend it to anyone who has a sense of taste.

I am not too fond of burritos, but this wraps are great. Definitely grab-and-go food place that tastes good. Rice Junkies worked well when you are running late to an evening class at PSU, I know I done it several times. Any wrap with spicy peanut is good.

Definitely solid grab-and-go food for when you want something tasty and quick. They do a mean spicy peanut. Great location for those of us with late night classes or when you want something healthy after the gym.

My my my… so many choices to choose from! Well, at least for me it was. I wound up getting the chicken curry rice bowl. Healthy and yummy! They have outdoor seating but you can only enjoy it if it’s sunny. My classmate and I came here to study after classes so it was nice to just sit there and talk. The prices are fair and great for the«on the run» PSU student, like Anna mentioned in her review. =)

Rice Junkies does the trick when you are running late to an evening class at PSU and need something relatively easy to shove down throat. Pick a bowl or a wrap, a protein, rice or yakisoba noodles, fixin’s, sauces, done. They will make any kind of combo you can think of, and in my experience are always friendly. I can’t remember exact prices but I think it’s around $ 6 for a full bowl or wrap. Just bean/cheese burrito may be less. They will also ask for your order three times because they’re doing too many bong rips in the walk in. But hey, that’s so college campus-y of them, right? It’s endearing. I worked next door at Seattle’s Best years ago and was the recipient back then of many a free stoner burrito mistake, so no complaints from me! The other night was the first time I had been back in years– what a hoot, thought I was in college again. Oh, wait… I am. Anyway– the same dude still works there and he rapidly put together my teriyaki bowl, doused it in sesame seeds and sent me off to class. Wooooo! COLLEGE!
