This was my third time ever trying pupusas and this place just knows what they are doing. I ordered 18 pupusas the morning of and picked them up later that evening. Everything about them was great. The pollo con queso ones are really good, but the revueltas ones are just the best. Their curtido is on point and based on my friends comments the salsas were really good as well, I can’t handle spicy, but just thought I should mention that. Overall very good service, tremendously yummy food and awesome prices.

I came in on a rainy Monday around lunch time when about half of the other carts were closed. One of my main issues with the carts here is how inconsistent they are with their hours, so them remaining open even in the rain on a Monday is a big plus in my book! I got a pupusa and the horchata. I knew the horchata was different(peanuty) from reading other reviews, and while it was good I think I prefer more standard horchata. The pupusa(I got a simple bean and cheese filling) was really good! Not to mention that the service was also nice. The guy who was manning the cash register was really cordial without being overbearing, which is cool.

I had a little problem with this place when I first discovered it. I’ve weaned down my papusa intake, but it wasn’t easy. They are SO damn good! It’s hard for me to order from other carts– I almost never do if this place is open. The tamales are good too! They are the more moist variety, wrapped in a banana leaf. And the staff is ALWAYS friendly, gracious even. It’s prob my fave food cart in Portland.

Holy mother of God – get the super green pupusa! I was only recently introduced to pupusas(by way of Chepe’s) and because of my constant clamoring for more was directed here. The service was excellent – the owner came out and chatted me up and even gave me some free curtido when I told him how I had just fallen in love with it the day prior. My only regret is not looking at the rest of the menu when ordering. They have some amazing looking dishes!

Come here for some authentic Salvadoran food. They serve fresh Pupusas along with various combination plates. The pupusas are made fresh and you can choose from a list of protein or vegetarian options. They fill the middle of corn or flour tortillas and served with slaw and spicy tomato salsa on the side. You can just taste the salvadoran culture as you take each bite of the freshly made meal. I was able to try the chicken&cheese and pork&cheese for $ 3 each. It was unfortunate that one of the pork&cheese pupusa was saltier than the rest, yet it was still delicious. I would also recommend to try their tamales($ 2.50) because it’s freshly made and filling. All the options are affordable and you can have a cheap meal that still fills you up. The employees do not speak English well but they can understand you enough when you order. Since they make everything fresh it takes a while to get your order. I had to people in front of me and took about 10−15min to get my meal. They apologized for the wait but it was well worth the wait to taste their pupusas. With the many options of Cartlandia, This food cart/truck/stand will shock your cultural taste buds.

The best pupusas I’ve ever ate!!! OK… the only ones I’ve ever ate… But damn how good!!! The boy and I split a couple, chicken and cheese, and pork/beans/cheese. Both excellent! I will certainly be back. Oh that curtido though… Yum. Pickeled cabbage and carrots, tart yet sweet. So good, we enjoyed them!

I didn’t realize this was a food truck. Not bad. Pupusas were ok, but a bit greasy. Service was nice. The food is ok, but it definitely has a sort of fast food quality to it. If I were in the area, I’d try them again, but I won’t drive out of my way to eat there again.

Amazing that the server doesn’t speak English well but this place is so popular. Yummy jalapeño and cheese Pupusa. Tamales was ok. The fruit salad drink was incredibly refreshing!

Had their Pork, Cheese, & Loroco Papusa & Fruit Salad Drink. Papusa was excellent, and portion size, while not large, was excellent for only $ 3. Fruit Salad Drink was also good. Well worth paying $ 2 for it, rather than paying $ 1 for a lesser drink.

Best pupusas in town! This is a family business and it shows in every aspect, from the quality if food and the customer service. You have to try their«Atol de Elote», a hot drink made out of corn. I like supporting business like this.

Excellent food, got filled for a reasonable price, really friendly guy at the cash register. So excited to find a good alternative when my last pupusa location closed down. Perhaps better :)

This is a great place to get my veggie burrito ON. It is large, not quite SF Mission level. but SUPER close to the SUPER size. The lettuce proportions were done right, beans were creamy, the salsa was decent enough. I must say. this is likely the best one I have had and they price a veggie burrito like it should be. It was less than $ 5. Grab a Mexican Coke and chill at one of the covered tables on a warm day after a bike ride. it’s the SHIZNET!

The pupusas here are excellently crafted and delicious. I come here always expecting new and excited to try something different. On my most recent visit, I went with two pupusas. One was chicken and cheese, the other was pork beans and cheese. The pupusas also come with a spicy and tangy cabbage slaw. These deliciously stuffed pancake like patties come perfectly grilled with a gooey flavorful center. A definitely a must try spot at Cartlandia, and if I’m ever craving pupusas, I don’t have any need to try another spot. Unless, of course… someone recommends me to.

So pupusas are a Salvadoran tamale of sorts. It’s a flatbread(not a lump of cornmeal like tamales) that’s lightly stuffed with cheese, meat, veggies, etc, and topped with cheese, salsa, sauce, etc. This is the first time I’ve tried them and I was impressed. They had a good flavor, a homemade feel about them, and were only $ 4.50 each. I tried the spinach cheese and the bean and cheese. Both were good.

Somehow, right across the street from the place I thought was Portland’s best pupuseria, is a truck serving pupusas that are at least as good, maybe even a little better. The food here is fantastic, culinary artistry that’s worth driving for, even really well-packaged for take-out orders, and ridiculously cheap. From the melty, creamy cheese to the cabbage to the sauce, the whole pupusa package is really first-rate here, even by much higher standards than you’d think to apply to Salvadoran food in a place like Portland. Don’t hesitate.

Every since my trip to El Salvador a couple years ago, when I see Pupusas… I want one. I have tried a few other places in the Portland-Metro area and, by far, this is the top contender for me. I ordered two Pupusas because I was excepting it to be «normal» size, typically around 5″ diameter(at least the ones I’ve had). They were huge, the circumference was about the size of the regular take out box, and they didn’t forget the relish or hot sauce. $ 2.50EACH! For a grand total of $ 5…I shared with my dad and sister, we were full. We came to a consensus that the pork, bean, and cheese was the favorite. Worth the 15 – 20 minutes wait, it just means that it’s fresh.

(It’s Salvadoran, just didn’t see that as a listed category) I was at the Cartlandia pod in the evening for a change, quite the rare sight. Yet, on that Sunday in May, many carts were still going strong. Pupusas sounded pretty darn good after driving for a few hundred miles in the Northwest. Zoyla, the woman that made pupusas at La Cocina de Chepe, opened this cart in April. I got a pupusa filled with beans, cheese, and pork($ 2.50). It came with some type of pickled slaw(curtido?) and hot sauce on the side. When getting a takeout order, the slaw comes in a small Ziploc-like bag, while the hot sauce stays in a small container. Zoyla’s pupusa mastery shines through, from the proper amounts of beans, cheese, and pork, to constructing the actual thick corn tortilla. The pupusa stayed on the flattop long enough so the exterior could gain some color. The pupusa, savory filling and all, came to me extremely fresh(still temperature-hot), so this panda smartened up for a change and used a fork. The bite of the pickled vegetables worked well with the pupusa. I inquired about the hot sauce, and they actually use Japanese peppers(for more heat) instead of Mexican chiles. I can still easily handle more heat, but this was quite good. There are still some menu items here that sound amazing, including empanadas and tamales. I’ll have to return and try them out!
