Parking has never been an issue at all. Facility seems clean and well-​maintained.
Staff is friendly and the doctors I have worked with have been very pleasant.
Only qualm for me is that the check-​in /​waiting room process seems to take quite awhile.

This review is for Sunset Dermatology, in particular, Dr. Kristin Stevens. We have been patients of Dr. Stevens for over 5 years, and at first, were satisfied with the service. Over the last 3 years, the service has decreased dramatically. It takes months to get in, which is very frustrating when you have something of concern on your skin. You always have to wait at least 15 minutes past your appointment time in the waiting room, and 15 more in the examination room to see the doctor. But what made us finally leave the practice is that we have been overcharged for her services.

(This review is for the Dermatology Clinic at Providence Sunset. As an aside my dad sees Dr. Dao in the clinic across the hall and I like him too, but this is about me and my skin.)
Dr. Bonta is my dermatologist. I love her. She’s smart and thoughtful and kind and she’s helping me with my poor skin. She’s also got gorgeous skin.
I grew up in Arizona. I was doomed. Irish, English, German, Scottish DNA with fair skin, freckles, light eyes. All those years of recess and PE and swimming in 100 degree heat.
Nothing good came of that.
I had my first basal cell carcinoma removed from my eyebrow at 26. When I moved to Eugene at 30 I found an itchy patch on my cheek. The Eugene dermatologist poo-​pooed me. It is nothing he said.
Biopsy, I said.
No.
Yes.
So he did. Yup. Basal-​squamous. Skin cancer.
Dork.
After a couple similar false starts when I moved to Portland, I found Dr. Bonta.
I’ve had a number of things removed since then. Either by Dr. Bonta or the Moh’s surgeon she sends me to in Portland. (Moh’s is a longer surgical process where they take a little slice of skin off, look at it, take another, repeat until they get it all gone). I now get six month skin checks. Last week she froze nine precancerous lesions off my face and hands. I’m polka dot. Yay. But that’s better than not finding them. She found one under my hair last year. She’s thorough.
I wear sunscreen most days but that’s not going to undo what Arizona sunshine did. I’m in it for the long haul baby.
Here’s the bad news. I don’t think she’s taking new patients. Dr. Luis Scheker, who is also in the clinic, is very good too (he helped my mom and was gentle and kind).
