It’s been my goal to eat at as many pizza places around town as is possible. Full disclosure: i’m a complete pizza snob. Don’t get me wrong, I will eat almost any pizza but I do have strong opinions on what is good. My definition of a great pizza is one in which the pizza is cooked at super high temperatures, making a crisp crust with a light interior. The sauce needs to be simple but make your mouth water when you taste it. The ingredients also need to be well balanced and high quality, making sure not to overload them. This is basically the philosophy of Apizza Scholls and so far I’ve not found anyone who can top them. I keep hoping I’ll find one though! I’d been looking to try this cart for some time and finally had the opportunity today when i was in the N side of town. I have to say that while it was good, I was slightly disappointed. The sauce was extremely bland. I’m all for simplicity but it just didn’t really stand out to me. The crust was also done well and the pizza itself looked amazing, had a beautiful char, but I wished it had maybe just a bit more crunch. I suppose that really can only happen in an oven that goes to about 800 degrees, so maybe I’m comparing two completely separate kinds of pizza. In any case, I don’t know that I’d travel across town for it again but it’s obvious that he knows what he’s doing and pulling out some very pretty pies(or handsome as it’s now called).

I’m not quite sure of the location because hubs picked it up but surely it must have been just south of heaven. Oooh delicious cheesy slice, how I loved you so. I didn’t give it a five because they don’t deliver but my pants thank you for that. Note: I rarely rate pizza places because I am a SUPER picky pizza person. All the vowels in my last name speak to that but I couldn’t resist. Pizza Depokos, will you be mine?

This is a review by a vegetarian Finally some food cart food that’s not too expensive, served relatively fast, and is damn good. Had a basic cheese pizza(about 10″, 6 small slices) for $ 10. Came out in about 11min even though the piazolo had to serve some ice cream. There’s just a hint of blister pocks on the outside and NOWETCENTER because this doesn’t have Neapolitan pretensions. I got some nice pizza mouth going that I’m savoring. Regular sized slices available for $ 3(what is up with the $ 3 slice in this town?) Might upgrade to 5 stars next time when I try a fancier pie for a little premium

***WOW*** Unexpected burst of flavor and goodness of mozzarella cheese and juicy tomato sauce. Made to order by the slice? Wood oven fire pizza. Crispy and chewy with every bite! This place tastes as good as Ken’s Artisian Pizza! It is $ 3 well spent. I will definitely come back to this place for more…

One of the finest wood fired pizzas I’ve ever had. Well worth the price. And try the flatbread, it is just amazing.

Had an excellent Margherita pizza and kale salad. Great crust. The hand-made ice cream is pretty good, too. The restaurant is a converted gas station offering indoor seating so it’s a good choice on a cold or rainy day.

My boyfriend ate the crust. Let me repeat. My boyfriend… ate…the crust. Important to note because said boy has left so much pizza crust in his wake that ducks cry. Geese make noise. I eyeball him in annoyance because it seems like a damn waste. But here, he ate most of his crust. Minus the bits I stole. This is that good of a pizza. When some friends told us to meet them here, we didn’t know it was a «cart»(I use the term loosely because it’s more brick ‘n’ mortar but hidden from the main street). I only point that out because if you don’t know what it is, finding it is tough! We — for the first time ever — beat everyone else so bought a beer and settled to wait. Our group shows up and we ordered four pizzas — the Sausage y Fromage, Pepperoni(zzzz), a special that escapes me now and the Rico Suave. All were good — even the pepperoni and I’m pretty indifferent about pepperoni pizza but theirs was good. By far my favorite was the Rico Suave, delicious, thin crust and perfectly cooked. I could’ve eaten one all by myself. This is a good pizza. As proved by the lack of leftover anything, much less crust!

Bet I’m not the only saying«Thank God, Pizza Depokos is back from Winter Break»!!! This is really good pie, and I’m so very glad they’ve seen fit to settle into this corner of the wildly rejuvenated and ongoingly rejuvenating Overlook neighborhood. They share the lot w/several food carts, and are nice enough to allow cart diners from them inside for protection from the elements. Your positive karma grows by the hour, P. D!!! Hopefully the cart customers repay you in kind and at least buy a beverage from you… people can be incredibly cheap, entitled, and clueless, no doubt about it… The crust, par usual, is sublime. Little bit of crisp in that thin crust, yet delightfully chewy. No sogginess whatsoever noted in the crust — even hours later in the long– cold leftovers… Their house specials, from the vegetarian Rico Suave, to the chili pepper-infused Sausage y Fromage or pepperoni pies are so dang tasty, and utilize top notch ingredients. However, their«Less is More» approach to toppings is what gets them dinged one star. I’m a pretty generous tipper, especially when the food and service were solid, and they definitely are here @ P. D… however, after repeat visits seeing that«Less is More» seems to be the rule and not the exception, I’m thinking perhaps I’ll «front load» some of the funds towards getting extra toppings next time. Depokos, you have great pies with great toppings! The fact that we want more of them should be viewed as a GOOD bit of feedback…

Ate here last night with the wife and two friends. All of us are aficionados of thin crust pizza kissed by fire. This place did not disappoint and is a very good value for the price, though I should be clear on the type of joint this is before you go. We approached after dark. The restaurant is located in an old gas station at the back of a food cart pod with half a dozen carts ringing the old parking lot. You order at a window and can eat at tables outside, or inside(as we did) in the old service bays, sheltered and warmed by heat lamps. There are giant stacks of wood against the walls, and a pizza oven between the eating area and the old sales office which is now the kitchen. Hearing the crackle of wood adds to the experience. The bay doors are kept open and the building has been minimally altered so don’t expect anything fancy. This place is more food cart than permanent restaurant. That said, both the tables and the bathrooms were very clean and we felt right at home. The owner is a really friendly guy. Wife and I had beers while waiting for our friends to arrive, and he was happy to chat and talk about his hand built oven and business. I suspect this place is a one man operation, though it was a slow night so I can’t be sure. As for the pizzas, well, simply divine. We ordered four pizzas of varying types, and left with half a pizza for breakfast when it was all over. The crust has nicely developed flavor, comes out at the right thickness and the toppings aren’t piled on top. Just enough to give flavor and interest. There were a couple of side salads, but I had to avoid one due to a walnut sensitivity. The other looked tasty as our companions eagerly downed one. It’s some of the best i’ve had in town, but not THE best as I like my crust just a tad bit firmer/crispier, and as such would give it 4.5 stars if I could split my vote. That said, I’m rounding up because it’s a solid and economical option.

Decent, but the search continues. It’s definitely not the best in Portland.

Pizza Depokos serves up the very best wood-fired oven pizza that you’ve ever eaten at an old gas/service station. Okay, you might end up sitting outside in the common cart-pod seating instead, since they share the lot with a few other stellar carts, but you get the idea. And I’m not trying to take anything away from the pizza, it really was freaking delicious. The crust was a thing of beauty — light, crispy, airy, chewy and slightly burnt all at the same time. Also, their combos are great, but they don’t mind if you want to add another ingredient onto the combo. We went with the greek style combo and added pepperoni, and the total flavor package was like WHOA. Wash it down with a can of San Pellegrino Limonata and finish your meal with some tasty ice cream from Scoop across the lot, and you’ll be a happy camper indeed.

The best pizza in North Portland, and it’s essentially a food cart(which isn’t really that surprising). OK, it’s not a cart, but it is in an old garage along with a parking lot full of food carts. Thin crust, wood-fired, tasty cheese. Simple and delicious. My only real complaint, if you want to call it that, is that there are only 3 or 4 options for pies, and it’s basically«cheese,(different) cheese, three cheese, or cheese and meat» although they were offering«special» pies for a while there. But don’t get me wrong, what they do have is very good. Make sure to get their early on the weekends, though, because once they run out of dough, they close up(and I have experienced this as early as 7:30 on a Friday).

Pizza Depokos gets automatic stars for playing awesome music! The Cure + Violent Femmes all in one sitting = WIN! Now let’s get down to important things shall we? The first time I tried the pizza, we had the manaeesh three cheese(lebanese, mozz, feta). It was so delicious that my family fought over the last piece(I won!). Tonight was my second time, and after reading reviews of how delicious the sauce was, I was daring enough to ask for the same pie +pepperoni AND sauce . The pizza engineer raised his brow a little because the original does not come with sauce and according to him it had«never been done.» He then remembered that at Pizza Depokos the customer is always right(he really didn’t say exactly that, but cooked my pie with limited protestation) The result? Greater than or equal to awesome! There is something to be said about«watching» and«watching» is what Pizza Depokos is all about! From the time it gets put in the wood fired oven, then carefully cooked to perfection right before your eyes, to when it gets served up in a piping hot box for you to devour with reckless abandon. It’s all fun and delicious and it’s extra lucky that I live just a short bike ride away! Pizza Depokos I will be back! Especially after you told me that beer is in your future!

Went there for the first time tonight and mmmmmmmmmmm! I was adventurous and tried the manneeash(sp?) with three cheeses. I knew I had a winner when I asked the window guy if it would be good with pepperoni, «I’d eat that!» He said with a smile. And it was great. My pie didn’t have sauce but it didn’t need it. Watching the pie being carefully moved about the oven to get the right amount of charring was a treat. The oven warmed my face and the pie warmed my stomach… I cannot wait to go back!

One of the best pizzas in town! The wood burning oven cooks the pie fast and delicious. The sauce is insane.
