Pioneer Pest Management

I looked through reviews to pick a company to help us figure out our mice/​rat issue at Mother & Child Education Center, and picked Pioneer Pest Management based on the reviews. Adam came out to help us and he was friendly, informative and fast. Not only did Adam fix our problem areas and set traps, but he showed us what to look for as far as where the rodents are coming in, how to discourage ones from coming in, etc. Then, and this makes me smile, he showed me why our basement was flooding — a blocked drainage pipe — and recommended how to fix it. None of us had even thought to look out there for the flooding issue. I recommend Pioneer Pest Management wholeheartedly!

Adam with Pioneer Pest Management came out and examined my place because I had been hearing rodent noises. He discovered two points of entry and took the time to explain the process of getting rid of squirrels thoroughly before setting traps. He came back daily until the problem was solved to empty and reset the traps. It’s always nice to interact with someone who loves their job and as hard as it may be to believe that an exterminator loves his job, this guy does. Overall, a surprisingly pleasant experience considering what I was dealing with.

First time using this service and it exceeded my expectations. We had our gutters cleaned a couple weeks ago the cleaner notified me that they saw a squirrel hole going into our attic. Adam examined the attic and determined it was probably a one-​time thing because there wasn’t a nest or much evidence of squirrels. Regardless, he set up a bait station for us to monitor and told me how I could patch up the holes myself (he even pointed out other problem areas around the attic that should be patched up to protect against bats etc). Then he offered to examine our basement and crawl spaces under our porches.
Overall very professional and knowledgable. Everything was explained very clearly and I appreciate him not trying to up-​sell us on the severity of our squirrel problem. At the end of the day, I decided to sign up for their preventative maintenance service because of that.

We had a bit of a wild life refuge living under the deck at our house. Pioneer Pest Management has been great helping us remove the animals. 7 skunks and 1 possum to date. The team is very professional & prompt, I would highly recommend them for your pest control needs.

Always great, friendly service! I subscribe to Pioneer Pest’s quarterly service. Barely see sugar ants inside now days. And no occurrences of rats in the attic. Highly recommend this company!

Rat problem! Old house next door started having foundation work done which disturbed the happy rats there. And so they moved into our crawl space. We called one company and didn’t like them. The dude that came and who also owned the company was creepy.
Called Pioneer. Have had great service from them — specifically both Don and Ian have come out at different times. Both gentleman inspected and gave good insight into the rat problem and — most importantly, killed and removed any stinkin rats. I’ve found that our interaction has been friendly, efficient, and thorough with Pioneer. I’d definitely recommend them!

Took care of our ant problem on the first visit. A week later my daughter found a huge spider. Instantly we were worried about hobo or brown recluse. Pioneer came out to take a look at it and reassured us — and did not charge for the call. Amazing. These guys are knowledgeable and highly professional. Our technician was Adam.

I have use Pioneer Pest control for two different houses now. Both Bill & the other profession were friendly, informative & did not pressure me into expensive treatments. They were on time & the kind of people you felt comfortable letting in your home. Thanks Pioneer!

PPM provides great service. Their technicians are knowledgeable and their staff are easy to work with. Highly recommended. They responded quickly and spent extra time inspecting our home and yard. They also provided alot of information and explained everything they were doing.

I called PPM when we found a bat in the yard which tested positive for rabies. They were the only ones who would come out quickly and take care of the problem. Eric came out that week for an evaluation. We have a very steep pitch on our roof but that didn’t stop him. He gave some recommendations and set a time to come back to exclude the bats. He came back with a 40′ ladder, climbed up on the roof and took care of the problem. Not only that, they sprayed for wasps while up there and didn’t even charge extra. It’s the first time we’ve been able to have a meal outside all summer without being attacked even though we have yellow jacket traps all over the place. Eric is coming back in 1.5 weeks. I’ll update when the bats are completely gone. Here’s the short version: I called, they answered my questions, gave me solutions, and are willing to adjust as needed to control the problem.

I am in the Property Management business and I’ve used many different pest services. I would have repeated complaints and call backs for basic pest such as ants and spiders. I happened upon Pioneer Pest Management by accident and I have never been so pleased with a Pest Management company. When I switched management companies, I brought PPM with me. I rarely get call back requests to a unit they’ve serviced. In fact I can’t recall when I received a return call back. Bill, our tech is an outstanding person. He is honest, compassionate and knows what good customer service really is. He takes the time to understand the problem and treats to cure the issue instead of treating symptoms. They are not interested in doing a poor job just to get repeated call backs. They, Bill especially, make sure the job is done. Pioneer has proven to be the best of the 8 different companies I’ve used.

This company has been great. We called with an ant issue, they stated it would be about a month after they sprayed that we would notice the ants disappearing, by the next day we had ZERO ants. We purchased the warranty which has come in handy. We had the ants pop up in a different room, I called to schedule the appointment and never got a call back (mis-​communication on her part) but the he ended up showing up the next day when we weren’t home. Rescheduled the next day, he came out and sprayed the bathroom. These guys are awesome and super polite, very informative and much appreciated. Office gals could probably communicate a little better but the work itself was A++++!!!

These guys are the best! Jason helped us eliminate our problem and keep it away. He seemed to really know what he was talking about and helped us understand too so we could prevent it in the future. Very professional and would definitely use again.

I originally had a very long review detailing what went wrong, but decided the short version may be more effective, so here you go:
I called Pioneer after seeing several mice in my crawlspace. The tech came out and said he couldn’t find any evidence of mice or see any place they could possibly get in the house. He said he pulled up the vapor barrier but didn’t see any evidence, but left me some traps (after charging me $ 90 inspection fee) to put out, which I did. Over the next three days I caught 12 mice! The tech came back out, said again that he couldn’t figure out how they were getting in and was shocked I found that many.
After seeing a rat in the crawlspace I decided to call a competitor (EMS Pest Control), who came out the next day and found 3 places where rats/​mice had burrowed into the crawlspace (the same one Pioneer’s tech said he looked) and a gap between the foundation and the house where mice could get in. Needless to say, I am very dissappointed in the level of «work» Pioneer did.

These guys are amazing! I had Bill come out to check on a possible wildlife nuisance in our crawlspace. He was a pleasure! After a thorough investigation, he did not find any signs of an animal and would not charge me for the visit. He was honest and extremely professional. A nice person, to boot! I would recommend Pioneer Pest Management to anyone — do not hesitate to call them — I will definitely use them again if need be!

We just moved in to a house to discover mice and, some large creature living in our walls. Being new to Portland and this being our first house (long-​time apartment dwellers) we Googled and guessed.
The first company we called showed up, dropped off a few mouse traps and charged us $ 179. We still were hearing loud noises in our walls so, after a few days of reading home repair forums, we Googled and guessed and got Pioneer and got super lucky.
Their wildlife management specialist, Jason, walked the entire house with us (including the roof!) to help us understand our vulnerabilities and how, specifically, to prevent mice (or any other creature) from getting in in the future. And, when we finally could not locate the large creature we had been hearing in the walls, he tested everything else he could think of and figured out that the phone line was vibrating due to squirrel activity in the trees — problem solved!
What really made it for us though (and why I decided to write a review) was that not only did he spend an incredible amount of time with us – he didn’t make us feel incompetent for not figuring out the phone line on our own, nor did he make us feel like we wasted his time on a problem that wasn’t his to ultimately solve. In fact, he made us feel GOOD about the whole experience.
If I could give this company more than 5 stars, I would. Moving to a new city is hard enough without having to hope you are lucky enough to find «the best» company for whatever problem you’re trying to solve. We did find the best (it took two tries) but I’m sharing this in hopes it helps someone else in a similar situation.
