This place gives big portions at very reasonable prices. I’ve never been disappointed by their phở(I always get the beef brisket, so good!). They are quick with their service but not super attentive if you dine in. Definitely worth it!

Service as far as food coming to the table is fast but abruptly served. Phở doesn’t have cilantro but asked for it and was served with no flavor and very stale lime wedge. The broth is very brown but no flavor. Friend ate the fried rice and he gave it thumbs up. I tried his rice and didn’t like because different grain of rice used here and dark meat not white and looked very different than most fried rice. Small serving of rice too for the price is thumbs down for me. The service here is horrible. I had to get up to ask for my refill of water and also asked for the bill since I was too upset to argue about lack of service and aweful food. This place doesn’t even deserve one star.

Had dinner at Phở Gia tonight. I’m not a big fan of phở, but I knew they have other things on their menu as well. We ordered Veggie Salad Rolls, Tofu Fried Rice, and Wok Tofu and Tomato. The salad rolls and the fried rice were pretty much«standard issue».. .they were OK, but really didn’t stand out from what most other restaurants have. The tofu and tomato dish, however, was delicious. The ingredients were stir fried in a rich brown sauce that was«addictive». That sauce was so tasty that I felt like licking the plate.. .but I didn’t. Initially, our server didn’t bring us serving plates for my friend and I to share the entrees. When we finally asked for them, he brought us two really small salad sized plates instead(that was kind of funny). Well OK, we were hungry by then, so we just used the small plates and started to chow down. Overall, I really liked the Wok Tofu and Tomato a lot, but I’ll come by myself next time and order it all for myself(and not need any serving plate).

This place is hit or miss as far as the menu goes. The phở is a fairly solid choice(although I almost prefer to take it to go as it seems to taste better when I mix it up). The flank steak is cooked way too tough and the banh xeo was too crispy. Service is okay. If you stick with the phở, you should get a decent meal. Okay prices as well.

Food is good, service is friendly, though I think to-go orders are sometimes mixed up. One time I came after calling in 45 min before and I think they had lost the order or maybe gave it to someone else? The next time I was missing dipping sauce. Still good and inexpensive so I’ll keep going!

Not impressed. We had phở and egg rolls. The broth was very bland and mediocre. I asked for fish sauce in hopes of saving it. All I got was a tiny squirt on a sauce plate. Honestly, a can of pre made phở broth would have had more flavor than what I was served. I could have sworn that some of the bean sprout condiments were brown and soft. Yuck! The egg rolls were two skinny pathetic sticks that were cut into four pieces. Hardly any filling, mostly wrapper. I guess that didn’t matter cause they didn’t taste good anyway. Bottom line, very overpriced for the portion sizes and tasteless. The freshness is also questionable. What a waste of money!

I really love this place. It has my favorite phở broth in town, a nice clove spiced taste. The people that work here are really kind too, it’s family owned. One night I accidently left my purse on the back of my chair, there was a large amount of cash in it. I didn’t realize I had left it until after the store closed. When I came to retrieve it the next morning, they had safe kept it with everything still in place :)

Oh yikes. I went here merely to kill time while at a nearby appointment. Service was friendly but clumsy. Had to specify order several times and it wasn’t right. The tempura is NOT tempura. It’s just deep fried vegetables and wasn’t served with the correct sauce. Should remove item from menu and say deep fried veggies. Spring rolls were just two. Small order. Vietnamese steak was equally greasy and icky. The iced coffee was superb and satisfyingly strong. Otherwise I’ll be sure to never return.

Coming from Southern California where Vietnamese and Asian food is on point, this place just didn’t even compare at all. This place uses Chinese white people bbq pork in the banh xeo(Vietnamese crêpe) which isn’t how it’s supposed to be made, their«boba» smoothies are too milky and not real fruit at all, and they don’t even have fish sauce on the tables. Not to mention that phở is so dark and they use more noodles than soup. Smh. All bad. Never again. So disappointed. If anyone knows a good authentic Vietnamese restaurant in Portland let me know please.

I visited on a Sunday afternoon; after lunch service was finished. Maybe it was the off-time but the service was only 1 star. The Phở was 4 star and I took a point off of my rating to balance the experience. I was seated without a menu, and after a little bit, a server brought a glass of water and the menu. I ordered Phở Tai Bo Vien(with meat balls and round steak). The broth was delicious! The trimmings were sparse but the Phở was great. I could have used a soda refill and fresh napkin, but nobody checked the table after the soup was delivered. I didn’t get a bill which is no big deal, but I had to draw the server’s attention away from his phone to pay for the meal at the front. He ignored me and finished his text as I paid and left. I’ll try this restaurant again during dinner service and see whether the service is better.

The Phở was great. Good quality, plenty of meat, broth, noodles. I selected #30, $ 9 for the bowl. It was the heartiest of choices. But they have a big menu of other items, too. Plenty of options. Upon entry it was very warm. Good lighting, warm wood, amber lighting, huge improvement to some of the noodle or phở places I’ve been to recently. Phở Gia definitely has an atmosphere. I joined my friend who was already seated. I was underwhelmed that we weren’t immediately brought hot tea. It took a little while for the server to get our order. Not a big deal, we were busy catching up. But when they do take a little longer to get to you, you sort of re-think your decision, don’t you? I ordered tea. She served in separate mug each for me and my friend. No pot to share. Oh well. My friend ordered a beer. They brought the bottle, but no glass to pour it in. The Mirror Pond was expired by a couple days, but common for these types of establishments. She ordered the Seafood Phở and was very impressed. Lots of folks came in – singles, and orders to go. This is a good place, centrally located inner NE, and the service was pretty decent. They have a full bar, too. No draft beer, but liquor, beer, wine. Their bathroom was huge. It was clean, fine. We just got out of the theatre and saw Room. The restroom was about the size of ROOM.

Just ok, i recently got a job near by and was craving phở and this happened to be the closest so I decided why not. First impression… nice atmosphere, updated furniture and decorations and super friendly staff(assuming the owners). After receiving my phở, I take a virgin sip of the broth, as I do always. The broth had a weird hint to it but I couldn’t put my tongue on it(no puns intended) haha. Finally got it to taste the way I like, chewed into this yellow lining with meat that wasn’t even edible so had to take that out of my bowl. The round steak I do have to admit was very tender and yummy so that’s a plus. But the most disappointing thing was the meatballs. I always save the meatballs for last since they are my fave. But it tasted like plastic, I couldn’t even eat the 2nd one. Overall I wouldn’t be coming back for phở, but I haven’t tried anything else so I guess we’ll have to see.

i have now taken the time to eat here on 2 separate occasions and i will never do so again. The salad rolls were a bit odd but not inedible, but the phở was just disgusting. The broth had NO beef flavor in it at all, it tasted overwhelmingly of star anise to the point you really couldn’t taste or smell anything else. I don’t mind seasoning, but phở is ment to be a beef broth that is properly balanced and rich in flavor… this was just gross. In-fact it was soo bad that the entire house smelled of star anise for almost an hour after i got rid of the food. The was not much to say about the meat additives other than there really wasn’t much of them and the texture of the meatballs was mushy and kinda nasty. I would not spend $ 9 on this ever again.

Solid Phở. Go for the Veggie Phở with beef broth.

The worst phở I’ve ever had. The broth did not taste fresh, and rather quite salty! I didn’t even finish my soup, and I always finish it! Unappetizing. The shrimp spring rolls were also blah and I won’t be back anytime soon.

Youch, I wish this place was better. I’ve had plenty of delicious veggie vermicellis but this didn’t match up. The tofu salad rolls were meh, the tofu had just come out of the fryer so the whole roll was hot. Their peanut sauce leaves much to be desired. The garlic tofu vermicelli bowl was meh, the tofu was barely cooked and the dish came with peanut sauce. I think its nice they offer a vegetarian option but peanut sauce is far too heavy for vermicelli. I’d prefer something lighter. The place was empty and the table sticky. Overall it just felt like it was lacking.

I’ve gotten phở all around town. I got the beef phở here with tendon and tripe. There was very little meat, maybe 2 or 3 thin slices and 2 squiggles of tripe. The broth was sweet and didn’t taste much like phở. Ambiance was nice and prices were totally reasonable but I wouldn’t come back for a craving.

Just came from dinner here. Not bad, but I wouldn’t go out of my way to return here. The broth was fairly good. Nice spice to it, though not quite as complex as other bowls of phở that I’ve had before. The noodles were nothing special. I wish they’d absorbed more of the broth. I ordered the Phở Tai Bo Vien(#39), which has sliced eye round steak and«meatballs.» The steak was decent, though there were only one or two small pieces of it in the bowl altogether. The«meatballs,» on the other hand, were unpleasant – lukewarm, spongy quarter-spheres reminiscent of chopped hot dogs or bologna or something like that. Perhaps that’s why they’re listed as one of the options for«phở for kids,» unlike, let’s say, the eye round I also ordered, or the brisket or seafood. The portion size looked large, but unlike other times I’ve ordered phở and finished a bowl, I quickly found myself hungry again. Garnish consisted of good, fresh Thai basil and plenty of bean sprouts, plus a lime wedge. Condiments(sriracha, pepper sauce, and fish sauce) were plentiful and good. One thing I noticed is the price: it’s a dollar or two cheaper than other phở places I’ve been in portland, despite being in a nicer neighborhood than them. Perhaps you get what you pay for, considering it’s neither as large nor as good as phở at those other places. That said, if I were in the area and craving phở, I would return here, though I’d order eye round and brisket instead of eye round and meatballs, and I’d get extra noodles and meat. And maybe also a Vietnamese iced coffee, which looked pretty great.

Phở Gia is so near our apartment, that I think we declared this restaurant our designated phở place. I came here twice already; once during a really cold winter night and once for a quick lunch. The first time i came here i ordered the bowl of Phở. I was really disappointed at the small bowl of phở. It had 4 pieces of sliced beef and it was submerged in the soup, and not freshly sliced raw pieces of beef. My bf and I are not big eaters but there wasn’t a time where we weren’t full after our bowl of phở; so sadly; right afterwards we had to order another entrée to share because it just wasn’t enough. The big bowl was not as big as we thought it would. Mind you, we also ordered two summer rolls before our phở too! The second time we came was for a quick lunch. I ordered the Bun which was plentiful and delicious. It kept me full for 5 hours! I loved every bite. I think i know what to order now when i go again. The Bun with grilled pork!

I’ve never had Phở being vegetarian — so I will say up front I’m not sure what to expect. I always have to pass when my friends want to go have Phở because it’s unlikely there’s a veg option, other than a salad — and really, if everyone is having soup I want soup! This place HAS vegetarian Phở — so of course I tried it. It was good, not amazing in any sense, but tasty on it’s own; and as I stated before I have no other comparison. There’s also a full menu of other options, including some vegetarian options — so I might try it again. Service was decent.
