5 Star Kimchee in this Portland Korean market. We stopped by 2 Sundays ago for their Kimchee and returned a week later for another bottle. The quart jar is $ 6.99 with one dollar jar deposit. They have half gallon and gallon jars as well. Its mild enough for most, but definitely authentic in taste. The market is sparsly filled, but have your basic Asian condiments covered with a tiny meat assortment in the back. The refrigerator in front has mochi ice cream for cheap and staff was very welcoming on both occasions.

Worst korean market in Portland, hands down. My grandmother and I were shopping for groceries and unfortunately she forgot her glasses at home. She tried to communicate with the store owner that she wanted some bulgogi meat. Selection was subpar. Half of their market items are items you would find at Safeway in the american snacks section, and most of their vegetables are rotting. Anyways, at the check out counter, my grandmother wanted some vitamins, and luckily they had some in stock. As we were about to check out, the lady in the back of the store preparing banchans came with freshly made kim-bap rolls. Still warm, we added it to our cart thinking«what could be wrong with freshly made kim-bap?» We proceed to check out, and we are just about to finish when i notice an error. The rude man at checkout tried to get away with charging us double for some of our items. MINDYOUMYGRANDMOTHERSEYESIGHTISEXTREMELYPOOR. If it wasn’t for my keen observations, he would’ve gotten away with it. And to make matters worse, he didn’t say sorry. KIMBAP– soggy, way too much rice, and only a third eaten. Don’t even consider, there’s a bigger one on 82nd so go there.

the only Korean market I’ve found yet in portland. Has a wider selection of solely Korean food than Fubonn including naengmyun packets and homemade banchan.

On this catatonic day of trying to square away my last bit of things before heading back to the big OKC. I was in search for some food off of 82nd. Marrisa Thai Express was closed. Only open on Mondays? I found myself hastily pulling to an old stomping ground… and thePal Do parking lot. With lightining speed at the front counter i found the korean sushi(gimbap)and some naengmyeon(Cold noodles) for my aching tummy! As I walked in the sounds and smell of the distant childhood devolved into this present day. this store is smaller than BooHan and other counterparts that cater to the Korean in all of us. it still has all the necessary produce to equip with a real korean experience. Kimchi(any vegetable(there are over 300) fermented with a spice KoChiJong)(also research have found out that kimchi is preventive factor to stomach cancer! take that McDonalds and take that american foods in general) –kongnamul(soybean sprouts). Fresh vegetable produce and menat selection is limited. I eat kimchi with almost everything! They also have a large korean video section if ya’ll would like to get caught up on your korean soap operas!

They have everything that you need to make a Korean meal, but they don’t have a lot of veggies. I’m so glad this place is in my neighborhood. I have somewhere to go when I get a craving for chi-gae and soju. Yum.
