Thanks Unilocal for removing my review of a not for profit organization that saves lives, sorry for trying to spread awareness.
PNTB are my client, and I visited them a couple weeks ago. They do important work for a large geographic area. Here are some facts about PNTB:
PNTB provides a full complement of organ recovery services:
Clinical procurement
Respond to potential donor referrals
Lead medical management of the donor
Place organs for transplant (using the national waiting list)
Coordinate the incoming surgical team’s arrival
Assist in the operating room
Hospital services
Work with hospitals to ensure collaboration on organ and tissue donation
Provide education to hospitals as needed
Family services
Provide follow-​up and support to donor families
Facilitate donor family and recipient communication
Other services
Assist with organ and tissue donation policy development
Provide statistics specific to a given hospital’s referral and donor activity
Provide continuing education for nurses and physicians
Conduct medical record reviews to ascertain a hospital’s donor potential (PNTB’s goals include increasing the donation conversion rate to 75 percent and obtaining 100 percent referral of imminent deaths.)
Give the gift of life, be an organ, tissue, and eye donor.

How can you not like the transplant bank? Full disclosure, I worked here when I lived in PDX. I answered the phones and stuff, no big whoop. Here’s why I liked it– Nicest people on earth. I’ve worked at a few hospitals, taken care of autistic kids, and with a variety of «givers», but these folks were by far the sweetest, most genuine people I’ve ever met. They were very smart too, and took the time to teach me about anatomy and physiology when I’d ask about things, which they really didn’t have to do.
I didn’t make much money (to put it mildly), had to work earlier in the morning than I’m comfortable with, and was a basic office peon. But here it was ok, because I was surrounded by truly wonderful people, from the big boss on down.
Oh yeah and there’s that whole business of turning a tragedy into saving someone’s life.
