I have held 2 work events here and am getting ready to host my 3^rd at Opal 28. Margot and her staff are amazing. Very good communicators, open and willing to work with you to make things happen the way you want. The parking across the street makes having a group come easy in regards to parking. The space is flexible and able to be arranged in a variety of ways to accommodate different needs. Full bar on site and great in house food.

Wow. What an amazing experience. This venue is unique, the team takes care of your every need and no event I’ve been to here has been the same. Hats off to a top notch venue.

We hosted a 49^th birthday party for 60 guests with the amazing help of Opal28! It was beyond perfect. They assisted with every detail, including arranging and hiring the DJ. I cannot say enough about the experience, and the overall smashing success that this event was.
When a venue makes me look good, like an expert party planner, I believe they deserve more than 5 stars. The guests of the event have taken the time to write us notes about how this event was a perfect party. Our guests loved the space, the food, the DJ, and the impressive and helpful staff.

We had a fabulous meeting here this week. The venue was perfect to support our 35 attendees, and the staff went overboard to welcome us. We appreciated the full bar and the food menu as well as the opportunity to mingle and the conduct our business comfortably.
We would be pleased to book another meeting here in the future, and whole-​heartedly recommend to others. Thank you Opal 28!!!

My husband and I had our wedding here on March 19^th, 2016, and our goal was to provide an intimate, relaxed, yet elegant experience for 40 of our closest friends and family. With that goal in mind, Margot, Kristi, and the rest of the team delivered! We did not have to worry about any of the set-​up (aside from hanging up some easy icicle lights), and the ceremony and dinner reception turned out to be stunning; just what we had imagined. We lucked out with the weather and our guests were able to enjoy the patio as well, which was a huge bonus. Dinner and bar service was fantastic, and our guests raved about the food. We opted for the «photobooth» (really just a cute corner with a stone backdrop), and I am so glad we did. A Polaroid camera is provided with lots of film and props and our guests LOVED this. They ended up leaving the little photographs for us and I am telling you, they are treasures! I can’t wait to make them into a book, and I am NOT A scrapbooking lady. Margot also works with some fabulous vendors that made the process simple. And although we did not stay the night in one of the suites ourselves, a family member did, and it was lovely with a vintage feel and I ended up getting ready there; it was a perfect space to enjoy some relaxed moments with my family before the ceremony. As a bride, I started to feel anxious about how everything would pull together, but I had no reason to fret at all. Everything was beautiful. We will definitely consider Opal 28 for future important parties! Thank you, thank you, for making our day so special.

What a great little spot for events/​meals/​meetings! It’s a venue on the NE side of town that you can rent out for small to medium sized groups. I had the opportunity to attend a friend’s company holiday dinner here and it was very well executed.
In addition to a cute outdoor patio/​porch area (perfect for the warmer months), you walk inside to a bar area, then down a few stairs to two connecting rooms (cocktail hour and dinner? dinner and dessert? wedding and reception? take your pick!) Our night was a very nice sit down dinner on one side and «mingling» space on the other including an area turned into a makeshift photo booth and dessert display.
I guess it must be rented by the hour because our event was 7−10pm and promptly at 10pm the nice employees were gently reminding us about the time.
It was clean, well-​kept, welcoming, friendly, creative and a great use of space. Very well done.

Couldn’t be happier with the space, staff and professionalism provided. They catered to all our needs and even brought of things I didn’t even think about. Will always use this event space for all my future needs! Highly recommended for any event you need!

I have had 2 events at Opal 28. Margot does an amazing job communicating before during and after the event. Food and drinks are wonderful and the event space is clean and inviting. Definitely plan on using Opal28 again in the future!

The thing about wedding receptions is you only get one shot to host all the the people you love the most. There are so many «places with potential» or «this might work» type feelings it seems. For us, and our experience, we had none of those thoughts or worries and that is because we chose to host our wedding day at Opal 28 with Margot and her staff. We sincerely thank them and wish them nothing but continued success.
We hosted 65 guests for both our ceremony and the reception. Opal 28 is the ideal event space for events of this size. That’s not to say the space couldn’t host double that size. In fact, for wedding planning it was nice to know that no matter how many people ended up coming Opal 28 could handle it. Love the centrally located bar which allowed guests to move around comfortably from the beautiful patio to the inside rooms. Margot does a phenomenal job of helping to decorate and knows just how to organize the space according to the needs of the night. It is such a unique and wonderful space and the apartments for rent above are fabulous as well and hosted our bridal party beautifully– so convenient and easy!
From start to finish we felt cared for. Margot seemed to have it all. Extra flatware, the ability to be flexible (still appreciate the substitute last minute beer request), energy, and organizational skills. We’d be so happy to attend someone else’s wedding at Opal 28!

I can’t think of a better place to have had a graduation party. My whole experience with Opal 28 was extremely positive. The space which combines features of vintage and modern, has two rooms, a full service bar, and an outdoor patio area with lovely market lights. We had 70 guests, and while the environment was ideal for that number, it could have easily handled more. In addition, the pricing was reasonable, with cost-​consciousness in the forefront.
Words that come to mind about Margot, the owner and creator of Opal 28, are: flexible, available, informative, and creative, taking into account particular wishes. Margot was accommodating and helpful, not only to myself but also to the off-​site caterer; we quickly realized it was better to cut me out of the middle so that she could take over the reigns. After discussing the appetizer and dinner selection, plus the age of guests, Margot suggested having larger tables, and opening up the party buffet into a second room, so the flow of the event would fit the space more easily. It was the perfect suggestion. She also offered a wonderfully creative idea for a photo/​memory guest book, that I really appreciated and had not thought of; something I will cherish. Another delightful detail she contributed was hiring a superb cookie baker/​designer.
In summary, Margot has an ideal set of talents that allow her to create a charming environment, hire professional staff, work with off-​site vendors, and also has the perfect industry connections. It is this combination that permit client needs to be best accommodated. She is truly an event planner par excellence, and I recommend her most highly.

Opal 28 is such a beautiful venue! From formal business meetings to casual cocktail hour, this space is super versatile. There is even an outdoor patio space. The staff is efficient, friendly and super easy to work with.
I also got to tour the four apartments above the event space and they are adorable! Fully furnished with a full kitchen. I would love to stay here sometime in the future.
Definitely a great value for all the amazing food, drinks, the venue and great staff.

My husband and I had our wedding at Opal 28 in July, and everything was perfect! We loved the accessibility of having the apartments just a flight of stairs away. The venue is so perfectly vintage yet neutral. It meant we could make anything out of the space that we wanted, but didn’t have to work to fix everything, because the bare bones are beautiful.
It was perfectly and comfortably sized for our 50 guest wedding! We loved being able to bring in our own caterer, because we have a family friend who owns a local restaurant.
Margot is so easy to work with! Every step of the way she was available to help, and continuously gave us great suggestions for making our day incredibly special and personalized. She even helped us fit a 10 piece band out on the patio!
Our guests loved it! They’re still talking about how beautiful the space was and how great the apartments were!
The photos are incredible, because there are so many little gems hidden throughout the space! We will definitely be back, and would recommend this to anybody hosting an event!

We had a staff retreat meeting here and it was perfect! We moved from a seated conference table to the lounge area for our different sessions, which offered a nice change of pace. Lunch was delicious, and sitting outside on the patio area in the summer was lovely. Margot gave us cold ice cream sandwiches after lunch. She is the perfect hostess and organizer. It’s a fun and trendy space, and I would recommend it to any organization looking for a retreat space.

My husband and I stayed in one of their apartments while visiting Portland this week. Not only was the apartment gorgeous, clean and roomy, the service we received from Margot was amazing. She was so attentive and helpful any time we needed help with something or had a question. Every time I messaged her she would respond within a minute or two! I was absolutely amazed at the amount of space we had, the bathroom was fully stocked with anything you could possibly need, the kitchen had coffee and a coffee maker along with anything you could need if you wanted to make food. It really made the whole trip a great experience, not to mention that the location is awesome! There are so many great restaurants around and getting downtown was very very easy and quick. We rented a car and Margot let us park it in the Opal 28 lot so we didn’t even have to worry about parking! Overall I highly recommend this place and the next time we come to Portland we will definitely be staying here!

We just had our wedding reception here in June. We rented the three vacation rentals above the venue the night before and the night of. We used Opal’s bar service and appetizer service. I give EVERYTHING 5 stars. Margot is a thoughtful, organized, and creative event hostess. She is responsive and seemed excited to work with us throughout the entire process. My husband and I were extremely happy with the outcome of the evening, but I think the icing on the cake is the guests at our receptions feedback. Everyone I have talked to about the event afterwards has told me that the loved the space and that all of the staff that were working did a fantastic job. The loved all the thoughtful details that went into the space. Margot also gave me several fantastic referrals that I fully utilized. Our photographer used many different areas within the space to capture the day and from the photos I have seen so far I am thankful to have picked a space with all the charm and character that Opal has to offer. If you host an event here, do yourself a favor and rent the apartments upstairs. They are convenient, cozy, and it is nice to kick back and relax after your event. We had a total of 90 guests, we were a little worried that many people would be tight, but it wasn’t at all. We could have easily had an additional 20 guests and still been comfortable.
So, Opal 28 as a space is awesome… but Margot as the owner/​manager makes renting this space for your event a NO brainer. The least stressful part of my wedding was the reception location. Margot made everything manageable and perfect. And, she picks staff that go above and beyond to make your experience exceed your expectations.
If I could give this space 10 stars I would, but Unilocal only lets me go up to 5.

I can’t say enough about how amazing Margot and the rest of the Opal team was to us. They were so friendly, accommodating and were a pleasure to work with. Opal 28 was decorated to the nines for our events and we had multiple guests proclaim «that can’t be for US» because it was over the top beautiful. Each event at Opal 28 has surpassed my expectations and I can’t wait to work with them again in the future.

I absolutely cannot say enough glowing words about Margot and her fantastic team! Opal 28 was the perfect place for our wedding reception and Margot and team were amazing from start to finish. Whether your event is small and intimate or large and boisterous, don’t hesitate to choose Opal 28… The space is gorgeous and inviting and can be customized to fit any party with multiple seating areas. Also, Margot is so responsive and has amazing attention to detail. She put my mind at ease from our very first conversation and was onsite for the entire event, making sure everything ran smoothly. My husband and I can’t thank Margot and the Opal 28 team enough. We’ll definitely be hosting future events here. You should too!

Recently I performed a wedding ceremony at Opal 28 and just loved it there! So when it was time for my husband’s ‘BIG’ surprise birthday party, I thought it would be the perfect place to have about 40 of our friends to celebrate with him! It was soooo fabulous!!! Margot and her team took care of everything and it couldn’t have been more perfect. Our guests said how much they loved it there and were thrilled with the food, the drinks and they loved Margot and Gen, who were (are!) so friendly and comfortable and helpful with everything! It is a true little gem and hope to have another event there again in the near future! Thanks so much, Margot, for making it so easy, so that I could enjoy my guests!!! Loved it!

I hosted my 30^th Birthday here and would definitely reccomend for use as an initimate event space.
Margot, the owner, is fantastic. So helpful and kind, she made planning a breeze! At my party, we had Bottle & Bottega host a paint session in one room and ha a freshly prepared dinner in the next. There’s a full commerical kitchen on-​site, which is amazing (and rare) if you’re looking to hire an outside chef or use a vendor of Margot’s. My party size was only 16, so there was one bartender serving us but he was outstanding. Margot took the time to research my favorite Margarita recipe from Nobu and the bartender nailed it! He was so friendly and all of my requests were answered with «anything for you!». There’s not too many private event spaces that offer so much flexibility with vendor use AND provide such excellent service. This place is the real deal!

I won’t be surprised when this space is booked solid after word gets out.
Portland needed more deluxe mid-​sized venues, and Opal 28 has it all: historical character and up-​to-​date style, easy to customize indoor rooms, a charming outdoor patio garden (complete with strings of white lights criss-​crossing the skies!), a great bar, full commercial kitchen, and great assortment of on-​hand items for groups like ours to use.
We hosted an informal night of food and drinks with PDX Food Swap friends and featured a guest speaker from out of town. Margot’s space could have easily accommodated five or six times the number of people, and yet it still felt perfectly suited to our group of 25-​ish as people mingled near the bar, on the couches, outside on the terrace, and in the front room.
The stash of plates, cutlery, napkins, etc., and the existing décor made it easy to set up and offer a beautiful spread, clean up was a cinch, and people are still talking about what a lovely night we had.
