Better selection than abc seafood. The best availability on crawfish in town. The restaurant is also pretty great too. We had an 8 person feast that worked out to about $ 230 total (live prawns, 2 whole crabs, noodle dishes, soup…)

This is a great place for live crab at great prices. I have found the prices to be less than buying off the docks at the coast at times. I love that I can shop on Christmas day or New Years eve for my seafood fix. Nice people, great service!

This is the only place I go to for fresh oysters, crabs, clams, and crawfish. The prices are reasonable. The best part is that they don’t care that I pick out my own seafood. Everything has been fresh every time! I’ve bought clams elsewhere and have always had issues with dead clams. It’s never happened at OM Seafood.

I’ve always been impressed with the seafood selection. Always got a bunch of live crabs even the huge Alaskan King Crab. Not always the most friendly but not there for a social setting.

Walked in, pretended I knew what I was doing, picked my own 6 clams, paid my $ 10 and left. They were kind enough to give me ice to keep the clams happy. Smooth transaction.

«Crouching Oyster, Hidden Appetite». Since I live very close by, I thought I should try them out. I picked up a dozen oysters and took them home to bar-​b-​que. Of the dozen, only 5 were edible. That means the remaining 7 were dead before I got them. They didn’t pop open. So, the next day, I returned the dead to the proprietor. She seemed a little put off at first, and offered me money or 7 other oysters. That seemed reasonable to me, so I took another 7 oysters to take home. One more try. So, I fire up the bar-​b-​que, and again, 7 dead oysters. I will never return again. Can you imagine what they might serve in the restaurant next door?
Confucius Say: Man who sells dead things must work in Funeral Parlor. Shanghai oysters, for sure!

Great place for seafood. the owners aren’t too invasive on what you are doing in their store – two separate people did offer to «help» and I politely declined while I dug through their tanks of razor clams to make sure I got live ones (they’d probably been in the tanks for 3 – 4 days so its understandable, some will die. and even though they’re fresh dead, my mother always told me to get live ones for seafood-​eating). I ended up with almost 12 pounds of razor clams, 2 pounds of some giant clams, and about 7 pounds of manila clams. The manila clams were amazing! No sand at all. whatever the giant clams were. were salty! Maybe if I had some white wine to cook them in. but even just steaming them until they popped they were inedible to me (too much salt water I guess).
My friend loved the place, she never even knew it existed! She will be definitely be back for more manila clams ($ 3.59 a pound or $ 3.39 a pound if you buy 10+ pounds). Great place for fresh live seafood – they also have fresh dungeoness and Maine lobsters. Their razor clams were $ 4.79 a pound which was cheaper than ABC that wanted $ 5.39 a pound. Their seafood restaurant is next door too, but never been. Someday, hopefully!

Went in looking for scallops, but came out with two delicious live dungoness crabs. The mussel, clam, and oyster assortment was pretty awesome. Mentally earmarked it for when I get the urge to cook ‘em. Crabs we bought were awesome and well priced. It looks all they really carry is crabs, clams, mussels, and oysters, but this is the place to go

This is not your fancy supermarket. It is a seafood market that has fresh seafood; clean and with helpful people.
First time I shopped here was after going to ABC seafood market down the street because they were out of mussels there. Right away I could tell he difference in cleanliness. OM seafood market was cleaner. Especially the smell. The young lady there was very helpful and when we told her were driving to the beach a couple of hours away she packed all our seafood in ice to make sure they didn’t spoil. Mussels; clams and prawns were all a hit and made the paella I was cooking a hit with my friends.
We went back there to pick up some live lobsters and they were delicious! Again great service and very friendly. They just had some live king Alaskan crabs come in that looked awesome! Next time I will be picking some up for sure.
If you want fresh seafood that is normally half the price of the regular stores, check them out.

This rating is for the seafood. Fresh, cheap and in season. They seem to do a whole sale business, so you’ll find entire tanks reserved for higher volume clientele. I wouldn’t recommend the produce selection or the groceries, but if you are looking for dungenous crab, clams and mussels, you’ll be quite satisfied. You will find whatever is in season at a good price. Don’t go expecting to find something you found in January. The seafood rotates according to season.
If you are looking for variety, I would go to ABC seafood (a Chinese market with good prices just down the street) or Flying Fish seafood next to Krueger’s Farm Stand — they excel in quality and variety, but it doesn’t always come cheap.

I love this store. Prices have gone up a bit since I remember buying crab here last season, but at $ 4.59/lb for live crab, that’s a steal. Pick out the ones you want, take them home and drop them right into the steamer still wiggling. Oooh so sweet and fresh. Their clams are a really good deal, too. Live Manila clams are about $ 3.50/lb, but if you buy 10 lbs or more, it drops the price down to $ 3.10/lb. And believe me, 10 lbs may sound like a lot, but remember, 80% of that weight is the shell. Oh, and while there over the weekend, live lobster was only $ 8.99/lb compared to $ 15/​lb at Fred Meyer. How’s that for comparison.

Did some seasonal shopping here. Found a bunch of things: live crabs, lobsters, clams, fish, mussels, crawfish and some cheap veggies. This place was packed when I came in which is usually a good sign. Everyone was shopping it seems. The tanks filled with seafood was just amazing to watch… reminded me of when I was a kid.
Anyhow, super good prices that didn’t compare to what buying presents for the kids did to my wallet (ha!). I feasted big and enjoyed the rest of the night with the family.
Well spent, well spent. We will definitely be back soon.

Save your time and money and go to ABC seafood just a minute down the road on 65^th.
I wanted to give this market a try so I had something to compare to ABC.
ABC shellfish: All industry-​standard tagged with total shipment weight, date of harvest and shipping. Clams $ 2.79/lb 5+pounds
OM shellfish: No tag. I asked the monger and he had no idea how fresh the clams were. Clams: $ 2.99/lbs 5+pounds
In the world of seafood, FRESHNESS is all that matters. OM had no idea how fresh their shellfish were.
So, OK, let me see what fish might be fresh… OH…NOT…THAT… ONE!!! To my chagrin I saw a DEAD fish in the fish tank. I made like Snagglepuss, EXIT STAGE LEFT!

The best live seafood in portland. They must distribute to numerous businesses in the area because they have 1000s of lbs of live animals to boil to death that they ship out daily.

I agree with Harold, the price is better than ABC!
This is a seafood market, dont come here to buy your veggies, ramen, soy sauce, fish sauce, because it specializes in SEAFOOD.

I like this place, it reminds me of China, where people will help you gut and scale fish when you buy one (except in china they charge a fee, here it is free)

First of all let Me say this place is way better than ABC down the street ! The employees are nice and very helpful.
The seafood is crazy fresh !! I also find the seafood restaurant next-​door to be quite delicious. I’ve been a returning customer for a few years now. Whenever I bbq or need to get fresh crab or lobster, I always come here. Def recommend this place !
