What can one say about O’Connors. It’s a classic down-to-earth place with the friendliest staff. While the menu is vast, the food is great. And right in the heart of Multnomah Village, worth the 5 minute trip from downtown.

This is our go-to local place for weekend brunch. Very friendly service, quality food, and there’s never a line — increasingly rare in the Portland brunch scene. Is it the best or most innovative breakfast in the city? No — but it’s reliably tasty and very reasonably priced. I often get the huevos rancheros, which are always delicious and satisfying. The muffuletta sandwich is also a treat. My fiancée likes the French dip sandwich. Overall I’d say the brunch menu is a bit more consistent than the lunch menu — the burgers that don’t have cajun seasoning are a bit bland and uninspired — but there’s a lot of yummy food overall. There’s also a surprisingly nice back patio area so you can enjoy some morning sunshine when the weather’s nice. If you want a relaxed place for a down-tempo Portland brunch, with no pressure to rotate out for the next group of people, I highly recommend O’Connor’s. Note: restaurant side is good for kids, at least at brunch — there’s also a bar side that obviously isn’t.

We were in Portland with a group of «Ingress» gamers which usually means you walk around outside playing and watching your cell phones — pretty well missing life as it passes by — but it is fun — HOWEVER since it was a beautiful day with a «biting» wind we hid out in here for lunch. I will start with — the service was outstanding and the place is one of Portland’s many old time historical buildings. If you need to go to the rest room — the stars are steep and each stair is short — fits about ¾ of your foot — be careful. I do love old buildings and the traditional restaurant so I felt comfortable. The place was not really busy for lunch but bustling I had a Reuben and it was made correct(pet peeve) and tasted good.(Note — they do have a turkey version which is not really a Rueben but they label it as such) Also the Hush Puppies are delicious. If we lived in the area I might stop buy at night to check it out but since we are from the Seattle area — probably not.

This is one of my favorite breakfast spots in Portland. My father and I frequent this place for their excellent coffee, excellent service and the novelty of rotating weekly specials. It’s rare that we ever end up ordering off of the«regular» menu, since there are usually two or three specials that sound amazing. They also have the best hush puppies in Portland!

I was brought here on a date when I was originally promised a home-cooked steak dinner. Disappointed? You bet I was. I wasn’t feeling the interior and the menu seemed like it hadn’t been updated in at least a decade. I ordered the Roasted Vegetable Quesadilla. I’m still confused as to why white rice was served with a quesadilla. It’s not difficult to make Spanish rice. The amount of salsa that was provided was just plain sad. The beer selection was equally as sad. This was my first visit to Multnomah Village and I was not impressed. I must admit, our server was really nice(no complaints there).

We used to love this place. In the last 2 years it’s been poor menu choices and also, sad to say, poor digestion. After summing things up to a bad night we went back to chaos. I guess it’s good to have options but sadly, after 10 years, we bid this place farewell!

The blackened chicken salad with Oregon Pinot noir and chantilly Chocolate cake would have been awesome by themselves BUT the Songwriter Circle with Kelly Bosworth and Steve Seskin made it exquisite, memorable and heart warming.

Biscuits & gravy was amazing the gravy has so much flavor. Jalapeño jelly with hush puppies & mimosa. The place is not busy at all at 11am on a Friday morning. My first time & I am completely satisfied with the food and the kind waitress. I think I just became a regular.

Good breakfast this morning, but very slow service. It took 30 minutes for the food to arrive. The waitress’ attitude was a little insulting, too. I asked what the difference was between two egg dishes and she replied«the ingredients». Not helpful. Service has been much better in past.

Gosh, this place is in need of an updated everything. Good location, lots of room, live music /uninspired décor, mediocre menu, *okay* tap list. Well, actually the menu isn’t bad, it’s what actually comes out of the kitchen that is boring. I hope that O’Conner’s actually becomes something fun, someday. The location is too good for this. Maybe they should hire the Sasquatch Brewing owners as consultants. They have shown how well a reasonable business plan can succeed in SW.

Had the cajun food and it was great. Super heavy and ready to put me in a food coma. The place is very homey with a mishmash of styles and cultures that I am guessing represent the owners pretty well. That varity makes it a good place for groups that all want something different.

Great food, sweet staff, and pearls! Quickly accommodated our large, loud group with a smile. Food was yummy and fast. Ordered Cajun Oyster Club and got three pearls too :)

Nice bar/restaurant with great food. It is moderately priced, most happy hour items are $ 4. Pros: casual atmosphere and really good food. Con: portions are small. HH fish n chips are 2 small pieces. HH quesadilla is small 3 piece half portion. Would easily give 5 stars if plates were a bit larger.

The first two times we went, we had amazing service! The waitress was very accommodating. She helped us select gluten free options, and always stopped by just to check that we had everything we needed. Even the manager was attentive to us. When we changed our mind about getting an appetizer and were looking for the waitress, the manager came and took the order for her. The next few times we visited were disappointing. We kept getting other waitresses, and none of them were very nice or accommodating. They had difficulty advising on gluten-free choices. They also seemed stretched too thin, covering many tables and just plain too busy to be bothered. On the visits we didn’t order alcoholic beverages the services was even worse. You can place your order and never see the waitress again until the food is ready to be served. Forget about drink refills or ordering anything additional. One waitress even went so far as to criticize what I was ordering, «Is that all you’re going to have?» Another waitress charged us for a full second cup of tea just to refill the teapot with hot water(no additional tea, just water). That said, Best Items on the Menu are Hot Wings served w/their own house-made dipping sauces are good & house-made Hummus.(They will serve the hummus w/gluten free bread upon request.) It’s sad that atmosphere and service is so lousy, because it’s close to home and we like the food. It’s best ordering their food to-go.

O’Connor’s always makes me wonder. It has an Irish name, it’s slogan is «Where Montana meets the world,» and many of its menu items are Cajun. Hmmm. Maybe they’re trying to have a little something for everyone. That’s okay by me. It’s old school, for sure. I’d actually kinda hate to see it spruced up, but the hard wooden chairs are hard on my behind. Last night I sat on my folded-up raincoat. There are no healthy menu options, and that’s okay, too. If you want healthy, you can go to Down to Earth. You won’t get the family feel there, though. At O’Connor’s you’re likely to be served by a waitress who’s probably been doing the job for twenty years and treats her customers like one of her own, which means that some days, she’ll be in a good mood, and others not so good. You gotta just roll with it. Go here for breakfast, is my recommendation. Have eggs and grits and ham and toast, and drink all the coffee they pour. Then wander around the Village shops and have a good day.

The marinated steak salad here is fantastic. It comes with an habanero chile vinaigrette and avocado. Yum! For breakfast I usually order the Huevos Rancheros. Yes, the décor could use some updating and the stairs down to the bathroom are crazy steep(don’t get too drunk before you go down those stairs) but the food is always good. We frequently eat on the small outdoor patio which has always been nice. We have had friendly servers and less friendly servers. No one has been rude but we have had servers irritated by our mobile toddler. Eh, what are we going to do? Stay home? No. We go out and tip well.

O’Connors isn’t going to be for everyone. The service and food can be uneven. One reviewer referred to it as run down, but I completely enjoy that it has the homey atmosphere it does. I’m sure«Restaurant Rescue» would have a field day ripping everything out and making O’Connors«upscale», but I hope they never change the interior. Aren’t there already plenty of upscale places to eat? O’Connors, just as it is, has a distinct and unique personality. If you like a relaxed You’re-at-your-Uncle’s-house atmosphere., you’ll like it. As for the food, I’m almost always satisfied with what I’ve ordered. I did send back something that I got in error once and it got replaced right away.

This place Rocks !!! We came in with a gift certificate that our good friend gave us for Christmas. I was a bit nervous due some of the reviews I read, but those folks must just be those kind that leave bad reviews because they are snotty and surely and have nothing else to do but Bitch! We arrived for lunch on a Saturday at noon and we were sat very promptly. The place was busy and things were hopping but you would never know. Connie our server came over with a huge smile very bubbly and absolutely knew what was what. We explained that we were here for the first time and had a coupon from Christmas. She gave us a walk thru of the menu recommended the Hush Puppies and we ordered. She then went to the front and brought us back a pamphlet with the history of the restaurant for us to look at while we checked out the menu. Best part was she was attentive but not obtrusive and gave us time to look things over. She came back took our order then returned right away with the hush puppies with a jalapeño jam. Oh My lord heaven from a fryer fell onto the plate and then landed on our table. After we devoured the hush puppies our lunch arrived Cara ordered the Ruben with a salad, I ordered the Meat lover with a salad and they were WOW juicy piping hot and very buttery crisply pan fried. Over all a great experience !!

The first time I walked in this place it smelled like rotting garbage so, needless to say, I walked out again. We were looking for a kid-friendly place to go on Halloween, after trick or treating, so we decided to give it another try. At least it didn’t stink this time! All smelly business aside, I doubt I would go back to this place. Because I don’t want to leave you with a positive impression, I will start with the good and end with the bad. * the food is pretty decent and reasonably priced * the drinks are good and also reasonably priced These are the perfect makings for an excellent restaurant! But… * the waitress was surly and inattentive * the waitress was exceptionally rude, and snapped at us twice: once for our kids being out of their seats and again when I was trying to get her attention; I said«When you have a minute,» she looked at me, another table flagged her and she snapped«just wait, miss.» * she brought the wrong beer and then couldn’t be flagged to get the right one. * she added two expensive items to our ticket that weren’t ours * they charged my credit card twice and I had to call my bank to have one removed * she complained about something about our table to another staff member, basically right in front of us(I didn’t hear what she did, but she scoffed and pointed at us.) I might add that we were not being demanding, loud, or otherwise bad patrons. All in all, it was a bad experience, so despite the decent food and drinks, I doubt we will be going back.
