Nunu Dreadlocks

Attention all thin-​haired blondes! You can have dreads; I’m living proof and LOVE them! Six months along, but what a journey. Thank you, Marsha, you are the true Dread Spirit Goddess!

I won’t have anyone else touch my dreads. I have straight, caucasian hair. I’ve had other people do my dread maintenance, and it just doesn’t last, and also breaks a lot of my hair. Marsha doesn’t break my hair, the maintenance lasts, and she also gave me great information on how to take care of my dreadlocks so they look their best.

I was very impressed and I’m not very easily impressed and I have difficult hair I’ve been told to work with I mixed race with medium sized curly Caucasian hair and have been turned away by quite a few salons because they didn’t know what to do with my hair. Not at a new salon she knew exactly what to do got to work right away didn’t phase her a bed and my hair looks great!
Marshes work truly is as good as it gets! I have been to several people all over California and Portland and by far she does a much better quality job, very thorough, faster & CHEAPER prices.
I’ll be a customer for life.

I was hoping that the Sisterlocks (micro dreads) Marsha re-​attached would stay. They did not, eventually slipping off and so bummer. The only reasons I took off two stars is that she never returned my calls, instead opting for emailing me (which I did not get until after my consult). The consult was a surprising experience. When I showed up, I anticipated a consult to just talk about my options. I showed up on time and had to wait for her to take a 10 minute break from the client she was working to tell me I didn’t have enough hair to reattach the Sisterlocks… then she re-​attached two locks (I have about 400 on my head) and charged me $ 15 per lock, during a consult. Within 2 weeks the locks were gone. Marsha is a pleasant person and seems skilled/​knowledgeable. I even bought some conditioning spray from her to take my bill up to about $ 45. I would just rather have known up front what the consult would entail and that was not clear from her website at the time.

At first I wasn’t sure if I could find someone to loc my hair (professionally) that also worked with natural. I came across Nunu dreads and decided to give it a shot. I Just started my locs today (comb coils). Marsha is wonderful and gave me lots of information about how to care for my locs. I’m so excited for my future with my locs

She was LOVELY. I’ll be going to see her for regular maintenance and my fiancé is going to her for her set of newbie dreads! Can’t wait. She’s a beautiful soul & I’m not having anyone else touch our hair from now on! she even gives the greatest home care tips, save money kine!

I was scared of having to find a new stylist when we moved from SoCal to Portland, but I couldn’t be happier with Marsha. I’ve had 2 appointments so far, but I was sold from the first visit. Marsha was great, very knowledgable, and easy to talk to which is great since you are in the chair for a while! She gave me lots of tips for care in between appointments and products that won’t mess my hair up. Will be going back and recommending to all!

Let me start by saying that this was one of the best hair experiences that I have ever had. Marsha is fantastic! I went to her shop looking a hot mess and came out with starter locs that look fantastic. She educated me, we had great conversation and she’s fast. She is my new loctician!

Man it is really hard to find a good, talented person to trust with your dread maintanence… Marsha did such an amazing job and she is a really beautiful person that I really enjoyed talking to with an honest passion for her craft and she teaches you so many cool things about your dreads to help you care for them. She styled my dreads at the end into a design I could never do myself, I recommend her to anyone that cares about growing dreads the proper way (Dreads are beautiful because of the long commitment one puts into growing them, there is an awkward phase where they aren’t long enough for several years that everyone goes through… but eventually they develop a patina from doing the real time and they are works of art and part of your soul)

Took a road trip from Long Beach to Portland a couple weeks ago. My dreads were a mess! Decided last minute that i wanted some maintenance done on my babies while i was in Portland. Looked up some places on Unilocal and there popped Marsha. Gave her a call and booked an appointment next day. I am so glad that i did! She was awesome! Great person to talk to and my dreads look amazing! Next time i am in Portland i am definitely dropping by!

Just spent 2 hours with Marsha. My hair went from crazy looking to awesome in that time. I had spent 2 hours at another dread salon and hated what they did. For about half the price Marsha fixed their mistake and I’m in love with my hair. And she is quick! Will defiantly be returning!

Just spent the morning with Marsha while she maintenanced my dreads. I am very happy with the work she did, and I definitely recommend you see her for your dreads too! I am still dreaming about the scalp scrub she did and can’t wait to go back for another one! She accommodated me and used only products I use (Dr. Bronner’s and Apple cider vinegar), but she also has one other product that she uses too if you don’t mind.
She gave me multiple tips for keeping my dreads happy between visits. I want to put minimal product in my hair and am particular about what I do use, and her suggestions met my requirements!
I enjoyed chatting with her and can’t wait to go back for my next appointment! Looking at the reviews, I am surprised there aren’t more reviews written! I’d imagine other people give Marsha 5s too but just haven’t Unilocaled it!

Marsha did a beautiful job dreading my hair. She listened, looked, and even followed along with what my hair naturally «wanted» to do, and I left with an awesome head full of dreads that look great and feel very secure in my hair, so I’m not worried they are going to fall out after all that work. Marsha knows what she is doing, and is a great to spend time with. I highly recommend her for starting or maintaining your dreads.

I thought I had been to everyone in town! I had appointments with supposed «dread experts», stylists who just wanted to keep me in the chair for extra cash, people who didn’t know wtf they were doing, and then the two folks who completely flaked on me. I finally gave up and started traveling the 400 miles back to where I originally had them done for upkeep.
Finally, I met Marsha! Marsha knows what’s up! My dreads have never looked so good plus they don’t come out! A small amount of time at Nunu means I don’t have to travel hours away to get my hair did nor do I have worry about them getting all frizzy two weeks later. I leave Nunu happy, and don’t walk away feeling like I was taken advantage of, a common experience I had with other stylists in town.
Super happy to have found Marsha and I recommend her to everyone! I couldn’t be more grateful!
