Northwest Hot Dog

I too am confused as to whether this cart is Northwest Hot Dog or Harry Z’s BBQ. It gets points for strange, being essentially a hotdog street cart with a meat smoker next to a bike repair place. The sign outside claims it’s the best pulled pork sandwich in Portland. Alright seriously, food establishments should be careful when making these claims. I can’t say the sandwich was any better than what one might have down the street at Tennessee Red’s, just different. The meat has got a bit of a kick, I’m not sure if it’s the sauce or the seasonings but for me while it started out enjoyable it made it a bit hard to finish the sandwich. Portion was generous, although the whole wheat bun I found to be somewhat ridiculous. Come on Portland, not everything has to be a health conscious statement… it’s a pulled pork sandwich for crying out loud.

I’m not 100% sure on the name, but I know they have another location with this name. It was also labeled «Harry Z’s BBQ». I tried the ribs and the pulled pork. I thought both were pretty good, but not the best ever. I especially liked their BBQ sauce. The woman running the stand was very nice.
