North Lombard Transit Center

North Lombard Transit Center is a good transportation hub. Much of it is covered and featuring benches. There are several buses around since this is a transit center. Like other yellow line-​only light rail stops, there are different platforms across the street for each of two directions. As with other stops, a fountain, more lines and more frequent arrivals would make it better.
I used this station to go to a donut place. Getting out of the stop was fairly easy through my use of a safe crosswalk. Service is fairly frequent and the shade was nice. Even if the benches are full, there is plenty to lean against easily. There are nicer stops, but this station falls into the category of good, short of great and definitely short of being Gateway Transit Center, with that center having it’s multiple lines, food service, lots of seating and more.

Yikes. Not my favorite place to find myself… anytime of the day but especially at night. Just has a bad feeling and there is always at least one certifiably crazy or creepy person in your face. Always crowded, difficult to cross at the huge and dangerous intersection. Avoid it if you can.

Anyone who reads my reviews or check-​ins knows that I am a frequent user of the TriMet Transit System. I love the North Lombard Transit Center. It is the gateway for this system for me. It is bordered by great options. There is a Fred Meyer, Panda Express, and other options located adjacent to it.
You can catch many bus lines that meet here. In addition, the Max Yellow Line is also a quick way to access the main hub of the Rose Quarter Transit Center. This is super convenient and the way to go from my experience. Taking this line to central points is a big time saver over the bus options.
I am very thankful for this access point. And the Fred Meyer has a Starbucks (@Starbucks) and when is that EVER bad… right? I love the North Lombard Transit Center and I am thankful for it.

I don’t use this transit center quite as often now. I’ve finally figured out all my local bus routes and how to use them effectively. However, this is the place to go when I need a less circuitous route into downtown Portland. The platforms on this route are narrower than at other MAX stations and I definitely tend to watch my step more carefully, particularly at the stop nearest the Interstate Fred Meyer where large numbers of people come and go. There’s a lot of colorful tile work and art work along the way. I generally feel safe here, but like anywhere I go I’m aware of what’s going on around me all the time. When I ride this route, however, I always enjoy seeing how many things have stayed the same and how much has changed in North Portland, and, of course, I see all kinds of places to bookmark on Unilocal for future visits.
