My BoonKrong Thai Food

One of my favorite food carts for lunch in the 5^th street pod. I usually get the curries and fried rices, my favorites are the Pumpkin curry and thr Avocado fried rice. Vegetarian & dairy-​free friendly! Medium spice can be pretty spicy, so I have been ordering mild.

We have used My Boon Krong multiple times for staff lunches served family style. The flavor, the price and the sweet smiles from all their staff make this our Thai Food Go To!!!

Some of the best Thai food I’ve ever had and it’s at a food cart, who woulda thought. Everything is reasonably priced and the staff are awesome. I get the chicken fried rice almost every day of the week when I work downtown.

Food carts go up and down in quality and taste I have found. Currently this is easily my favorite Thai cart in this area of Portland. Spicy Thai Basil Chicken is great. Pad see ew was wonderful today. I’m still trying out different dishes. Beware of getting it too hot. Medium here is like hot at other carts, at least so far in the past 4 weeks I’ve been going here.

I come here for lunch since my work office is across the parking lot. If you are looking for quick delicious Thai Food, you came to the right place. You get a lot of food for only $ 6. I’ve tried the Chicken Pad Thai and the Pad See Ew (first with Chicken, second time with Beef). The staff are always very friendly and willing to answer questions if you have any. One of my favorite food carts in PDX!

The Pad Thai was simply amazing! Perfect balance of all the ingredients and a good level of spice. Will definitely go back when I’m back in town.

I’ve only had the Pad See Ew, but it was great. The veggies were fresh and had just the right amount of spice. It’s quality over quantity here, not the largest serving size, but enough to leave you full. The staff is really friendly too!

Thai food at this food cart is the best thai food I’ve ever tried in Portland. It’s so real thai taste and full flavor especially Som Tum (papaya slad), spicy slad and Larb. Whenever I’m thinking about what I want to eat, I usually go to this food cart. It makes me feel like i eat at it in Thailand because the lovely cook makes food by putting her heart into every dish. Also, she’s very nice and friendly.
If you love thai food, I would like to recommend to try thai food at My Boonkrong Thai food cart.

I’ve been coming here and trying something new each time. Pad Kee Mao and Cashew Stir Fry are standouts. And if you want them to make it spicy they will actually do it. Plus the ladies who work here are incredibly friendly. They always remember us and are happy to make anything soy-​sauce free for my gluten free friend. There’s a lot of thai carts out there, but this one gets my recommendation.

Okay, you know Plato’s whole metaphor about the cave, and how we aren’t seeing the true objects themselves, but rather fuzzy shadows on the wall? Okay, I’ll be honest, I skipped that book in my intro humanities class, too, but even so, I can say with 100% certainty that this would be Plato’s favorite Thai cart in Portland.
I know, I know. The very phrase «Thai cart» kind of puts me to sleep, too. An entire culture’s rich tradition of food preparation, slandered by a thousand wheeled kitchens churning out uninspired pad thai. I mean, it’s not like I’m a Thai expert or anything, but I can still tell when food is attempting to patronize my cautious American palate. Well screw you, cautious Thai food! I didn’t order my lunch at Cuisine of the Midwest food cart (apologies to all my friends of Midwestern origin, but you know it’s true).
So how did I know this Thai cart was The One, out of all the others? They serve tom sum. You know, green papaya salad. (Okay, if you still don’t know, stop reading. Go order your sad Thai somewhere else and keep the line here short.) Like, no other cart downtown serves tom sum, and I DON’T KNOW WHY. It is so delicious. There used to be a cart that had it, but they closed and it made me SO SAD. So do you know how I felt when I saw that this cart would be happy to serve me a heaping helping of shredded green papaya, carrots, and whatever clearly illegal substances are in that sauce that makes me, a meat eater, want to nom down an entire box full of rabbit food? If you answered, «Happy enough to write a clearly delirious screed on Unilocal,» you are correct.
Also, the larb here is delicious. No, seriously, get it. I don’t care if the name makes you giggle. Get it.
In summary, this is the only Thai cart I’ll eat at anymore.

My first food cart venture in Portland, OR. This was right near the hotel and I was going to go to Portland Prime to try it out but the food looked great and there was a great Thai aroma… So I ordered up the Tom Yum soup and the Paradise Salad. Both were great! I got a tofu tom yum and there was plenty of tofu in the soup and the broth was just the right amount of spice. The Paradise salad had mangos, and avocado and tomatoes and lettuce/​onions. Simply amazing… Each item is only $ 6. They take credit cards which was amazing for a food cart… Signed on a pad and got my receipt electronically to my phone! LOVE a computer saavy food cart… Definite revisit and definite fan!!!
