Multnomah Cleaners & Tailors

their prices are fair. $ 5 to dry clean a skirt. i haven’t been in the dry cleaning market for awhile, until I treated myself to a Nordstrom shopping spree. I can use the Dryel-​home use dry cleaning for some items, but not all.
Their quality of work is solid.
Points for:
1. being close to my residence
2. family run and friendly — feels good to give them my business
3. they have a candy jar filled with Smarties, Jolly Ranchers, & Nerds
Minus —
1. Unreliable hours — I showed up at 7:00, they open at 7:00am, I waited about 5 minutes outside. Close at 3pm on Sat. — I got there at 3:22pm, Drat! One last try, I arrive around 8am on a weekday — sign on door says «We are closed until 1pm — Dentist Appointments. Ack!

I took my $ 800 Hugo Boss suit jacket to them to have altered. The wife did, in my opinion, a very poor job on the jacket alterations. Then I took the jacket to a Portland European Master Tailor, and he told me whoever had altered the jacket before, meaning Multnomah Cleaners, did a very poor job and may have ruined an $ 800 suit jacket. I went back to Multnomah Cleaners, after dropping my jacket off at the master tailor, to let them know the jacket was done improperly and to request a refund on the incorrect alterations already done. The male owner, who seemed nice when I dropped off the jacket before, was very rude and condescending to me, when I politely asked if reimbursement for the improper alterations was possible, and refused any reimbursement for the improper alterations done by his wife. I guess the owner subscribes to the philosophy of the customer is never right and my business is always right! Horrible experience and will never give them business again. The owner gave horrible customer service, and I was nice, polite, and never raised my voice one time in regards to his wife ruining my $ 800 suit jacket.

HORRIBLE. Customer service was terrible from husband. I just moved into the area and made the mistake of going to this place. When I went inside the wife was busy but sweet and the husband ignored us. That’s ok as we were being helped right after the customer she had. Then another customer walked in who had parked in front (in a very expensive vehicle) & the husband jumped up and ran to help them totally ignoring us who had been waiting and GUSHED over this person and mentioned their car numerous times. Hey, sorry I drive a Prius to help the environment. It’s not like I haven’t had expensive cars myself…
If that wasn’t enough we had brought in a $ 1500 suit to be tailored. It was RUINED by the wife’s alterations. Luckily we found a master tailor downtown who thinks they can repair what she did, but it would have been nice if she would have stated that she was unqualified to do the alterations in the first place. Instead we have to pay twice for it to be fixed and almost had to buy new one.
Now back to that tremendously FOUL customer service by the hubby:
Walked in, very politely asked for at least a refund of monies spent to them since it had to be completely redone. He said «you pay us, I not pay you». Really? We are new to area, do a lot of dry cleaning and alterations.
Too bad as they lost a good customer today.

I have gone to them twice, my first experience was GREAT she did a great job with me and my dress. My second time was today I just went in to drop off a dress I knew how much I needed cut from the bottom and that was all. The older guy there kept on repeating to me that he had told me over the phone that she would not be in until 3 o’clock (she was there) at noon when I went to drop it off. I told him yes but I don’t live here I work near by so I was just going to drop off I don’t need sized. He never said «hi» or anything to me except for «you called and I told you 3 o’clock» the lady on the other hand was really nice and wrote the ticket for me and asked me when I needed it. When I told her Friday would be great and asked if that would be a problem he replied with a smart remark like basically saying we have no choice but to have it done by Friday. I really like her and her work but because of him I don’t think I will be going back after Friday when I pick up my dress. He was extremely rude I was really ready to grab my dress and say never mind I will go elsewhere.

We try to shop local, and especially make an effort to support small businesses. We love Mutnomah Cleaners because it is the real deal! The shop is hot, but conducive to the lovely array of orchids that line the bay windows of their storefront. They lovingly repaired the holes in my vintage coat for $ 3. When would I have ever gotten around to doing that? Never! Detail oriented, very friendly, fast, and affordable. Local and mom & pop, with their own flair. Take your smelly, torn, ill-​fitting duds here!!!

They do a good job. No air conditioning, though. Makes for a really hot wait. Nice people.

My family has been going to this cleaners for 20+ years. They have taken up all of may pants to a perfect length. Redone 3 brides maid dresses in ridiculous ways. They also are quick and precise about cleaning and pressing clothes. Great business!

I was SO excited to visit my local cleaners for the very first time. I don’t actually have clothes worth dry cleaning and, if I do, I’ve never noticed. That said, I finally had a good reason to go to the cleaners because the lining in my favorite winter coat was thrashed, tattered and torn. This is not your average winter coat, but one worth saving and paying good money to repair. It’s long, made of wool, with black velvet sleeves and a velvet hood. Now you know why I’m in love with it. So, on to the cleaners…
The very kind lady said she’d try to repair the many holes, but it would be difficult and should be done in 2 weeks. I asked if it would be easier to just replace the lining. She said she’d try to repair it instead, as replacing the lining would cost $ 100 or so (i.e., the cost of a new coat). I probably wouldn’t have flinched at the cost, since, as I’ve said, this coat is worth saving.
Two weeks later, on the day she said it would be ready, I called to check up on the progress of the repairs. She said she needed 2 more days, which wasn’t a big deal to me. The next day, I got a phone call from her, saying she could only repair some of the holes and I needed a new lining.
Well, I was pissed. I appreciate that she made a valiant effort to repair my lining, but I went over 2 weeks without my winter coat in freezing ass cold weather, using my fall jacket instead. I also would have had her replace the lining and even offered that option to her when I dropped it off. I could have had my coat back by now, lined and ready to wear out and about in this crazy weather.
Instead, I picked up my partially-​repaired coat, paid her $ 25 fee (very reasonable for her work, I admit), and went shopping for a new coat. Thankfully, I found one that may just be my new love, but I’m still disappointed. I’ll give this place another shot someday when the need is not so dire.
