Best customer service ever! We purchased a Mulligan mattress in late 2013. My husband and I have both had spinal surgery and, while the mattress worked well for him, my back wasn’t so happy. Not knowing what to do or having the patience to look for another solution, I kept sleeping on it despite being uncomfortable. About 6 months ago I thought to flip it so the talalay layer was on the bottom, but it was still too soft for my back. I finally decided to call the company to see what they suggested, even though I was embarrassed because we’d already had it for 1 ½ years. Gary told me to put a folded up towel under the mattress at hip level to see if that would make me more comfortable and to report back in a couple weeks; unfortunately it didn’t do the trick. I called back Gary with the bad news fully expecting I would need to sell our mattress and find another option. Instead, he said they would make an extra firm mattress and come swap it out for us. It arrived yesterday and I had a great night’s sleep, the extra measure of firmness made all the difference for my back! I couldn’t imagine a happier resolution or better customer service. Mulligan Mattress is the best!

I am so pleased with my new mattress. I was replacing a 18 year old latex/​foam mattress which had served my well but was getting too hard. I visited with Gary and he figured out the combination at would work the best for me. Well he nailed it because this is by far the most comfortable mattress I have slept on. Now I find excuses to just «lie down for a minute», nap times have never been better. Great customer service, my mattress was ready in 10 days in order to accommodate my move to California. I highly recommend Mulligan Mattress Company.

Nothing shy of a spectacular experience. We are over the moon happy with our new mattress. We sleep blissfully, completely comfortable & wake up feeling no pain. Heaven! After 6 months of dealing in Tempurpedic sales tactics & horrific chemical toxicity & then more time with questionable sales practices (and trying the latex hybrids) in our local stores… David @ Mulligan Mattress was a breath of fresh air. If your goal is a completely open, honest & rather humorous experience where in the end you have a comfortable bed made of pure materials with ZERO odor or concern of off-​gassing then this is your place. It was helpful to me that they are straight forward & crystal clear about what you get. David listened to me when I said we really prefer firmer but not like sleeping on concrete. The prescription was easy for me as I have a wonderful chiropractor who is overjoyed to support businesses like Mulligan Mattress & the well-​being of myself & family. The mattress is simply perfect. It was a beast to get it to our bedroom on the second floor but our neighbor helped & I’d do it again 100 times over. Thank you Mulligan Mattress for saving the day!

I’ve had the mattress (queen with pillow top) for nearly two weeks, and I love it! Gary was very nice and informative, and very easy to work with. My only issue is that they recommended Mission Craft Furniture, which was a major fiasco. The bed frame is nice, but the owner, Ted was a nightmare to deal with. The Mulligan folks may want to reconsider their business partnership with this guy.

UPDATE: I wish I could give these guys 6 stars! My husband and I recently bought a king mattress from them, but my hubby found it not to be quite firm enough for his back. Without any hassle, Mulligan’s offered to order an extra-​firm twin XL for him to try out (which worked), then they came and picked up the king mattress and new extra-​firm twin XL, swapped out my husband’s side with the extra firm to create a his-​and-​hers mattress and redelivered the new mattress (with separate squishy topper) to us the SAME DAY. Talk about FANTASTIC SERVICE!!! Something that seems to be such a rarity nowadays. We will purchase another mattress for our second child from them when he outgrows his crib.
If you want a chemical-​free, natural latex mattress, pay an INCREDIBLY REASONABLE price for it and get great service, Mulligan’s is the place to go!

I bought my mattress about two months ago. After years of painful sleep I am finally resting well. Every single night I get into bed and say out loud «God, I love this bed!“I sleep well, wake rested, and look forward to going back to bed every night. I no longer wake up with back pain or hip pain.

When I think of latex, the first two images that pop in to my head are condoms and gloves. Definitely not mattresses. How I arrived at wanting a latex mattress is a long, convoluted story that’s filled with research, frustration, lots of bullshit, and some serious Unilocaling. Suffice to say that my journey ended here at Mulligan Mattress, and I sure am happy it did.
I woke up this morning with a feeling I haven’t had in eons — I didn’t want to get out of bed. Not at all. The past 10 years I’ve spent on an inner-​spring pillow-​top Serta Beautyrest Vanderbilt was not that way. Sure it was a great mattress when I got it (a gift from my brother) but after a few years, the welling started. And my trick back doesn’t do well on a poor sleeping surface. So I finally got around to buying a new one. And Mulligan made it for me.
This locally-​owned company makes 100% natural latex mattresses, custom built with either a firm or extra-​firm dunlop core topped with a talalay latex pad. They’re combined and wrapped in organic cotton. No flame retardant chemicals are applied, and no synthetics are used, so you need a prescription to get around the consumer protection laws. However if you’re not a smoker (or you never smoke in bed) then this is a non-​issue.
This combination of talalay and dunlop makes for a nice, firm support base with a little bit of cloud on top. Side sleepers don’t have hip pressure issues, and back sleepers have straight spines. And there’s little-​to-​no motion transfer due to the lack of springs. So when I’m tossing and turning on my side of the bed (less now due to the soft sleep), my wife doesn’t get jolted by spring response.
If you’re moving to latex from anything else, you need to know a few things in advance. First, you need some sort of foundation like a box spring or a bed frame with slats. Second, these mattresses are only 8″ thick. That’s less than half the thickness of my previous mattress. So even with box spring, total mattress height is lower. You can tack on a box foundation made by Mulligan for a couple hundred bucks. And third, you’ll be super duper thankful that you made the switch.
These guys will make you a mattress, deliver it (you need to have someone help the dude carry it in) and take your old mattress out for you. Delivery is included in the price. And they offer a cash (actual cold hard cash) discount. So inquire about that. There’s about a two week turn time from order to delivery, and don’t forget to schedule an appointment with your chiropractor, doctor or naturopath in advance, so you can get that scrip signed (they have the forms).
Also as a bonus you get to interact with the owner and his brother, who are both kind of snarky. I always appreciate good dry wit.

I cannot say enough good things about this place. My husband and I were in the market for a new bed. Having slept on futon mattresses for the past 15 years made from recycled materials, we liked the notion of an alternative mattress. Hearing about latex and the appeal of a mattress we did not need to flipped appealed to us.
Walking past Mulligans you may not even know they are there. But the attention and quality go into their mattresses and customer service NOT there fancy showroom. Gary was very enthusiastic and knowledgeable and we enjoyed getting to know him and the benefits of a completely ORGANIC Natural Latex mattress. It was delivered to our house at no charge and they were even so kind as to give us a latex pillow to seal the deal. Go here to by your next bed, yes it is an investment but there is nothing more important then getting a good nights sleep!

This is for all you pregnant ladies. My wife and I bought a bed here sometime during her 1^st trimester. During the entire remainder of the pregnancy she didn’t need any stomach bolstering and never had hip pain. We made the mistake of taking a trip in the middle the last trimester, and the bed in the hotel brought on all kinds of body pains. A few nights back in our Mulligan Mattress and everything was back to normal.

My wife and I were sick of the lumpy mattresses, broken promises that the big coil mattress companies offer. We found Mulligan Mattesses through a friend, went for a visit, and ordered a king size latex mattress soon thereafter. It’s been three years, and we love our mattress — it has retained 100% of its shape and firmness, and is infinitely more comfortable than anything else we’ve slept on (we’ve tried it all, tempur-​pedic, posture-​pedic, and all the other pedics you can think of). The durability and honest price are amazing– I recommend this shop to anyone who wants a real mattress. Another bonus– these products are free of most of the nasty chemicals that big companies put on their mattresses, so you’re not breathing off-​gassing compounds for months.

I just want to say that if you are not sure if a latex mattress will work for you, and want to buy one from someone who will help you no matter what, this is the place to go! Most people seem to love the latex foam and sleep well on it. Unfortunately for my back, this was not the case. However… after two years of being in pain, I finally called Mulligan and they came straightaway and replaced the mattress i had bought from them with a firmer one, to see if that would help. This was at no charge at all! I am sad to say the firmer one did not work for me either, and they are going to refund my money completely, no questions asked, How is that for customer service? I so wish I could have kept their mattress, but I am SO THANKFUL for their kindness and willingness to work with me, even after two years have passed!

WARNING! You will never want to leave your bed again. I like soft beds he likes harder beds yet somehow we are both in love with this bed. Even the dog who quit sleeping on the bed sometime ago now has to be up there. Gary was super easy to work with answered all of my questions with patience. I highly highly recommend Mulligan Mattress. I love telling people that it is locally made and organic no more worrying about the chemicals leaching from my bed. Thank you Gary! I also had my bed frame made by Ted at Mission Craft. He did an awesome job and I love the way he did my stain. Thanks guys!!! Now I have to take a nap :)

Update: We’ve had the mattress for 10 months now and I’m still so happy about it. I wake up feeling great every day.
A few months back while we were out of town, a mold problem developed in our bedroom. I was very worried that we’d lose the bed because mold had gotten onto the bed frame and there were some streaks of it on the mattress cover where the cover touched the bed frame. I went to Mulligan Mattress that day, which was a Sunday, and Gary was in the shop. He assured me that the natural latex would be fine and he could recover it for me for $ 60. I left the mattress with him and got it back a day later. He determined that he only needed to recover one side, and he didn’t charge me at all.
I visited Ted at Mission Craft to find out what could be done about the bed frame. He had the frame sanded and re-​stained, and charged me a grand total of $ 15 to replace the center slats, his cost. He had it all back to me within a day.
***Our $ 1,800 investment was saved within one day for a total of $ 15. That is customer service you can only find from local craftspeople who care about their customers.***
This was months ago, and the bed and bed frame are still perfect.

When it came to buying a new mattress, I did my research. Spending 30% of each day on one piece of furniture, you want it to be comfortable, made with high quality materials and most of all safe for use. Read up about flame retardants and mattress off-​gassing (but not before bedtime– nightmarish!) That’s why I ponied up the dough to buy an organic latex mattress without chemical additives. Do the math: a $ 1500 mattress that lasts at least 15 years is $ 100 a year, or 2.7 cents per day.
Gary was knowledgeable and easy to work with. Most of all, I love my mattress and feel great when I wake up. If you do your research and buying local is important to you, you’ll find Mulligan Mattress is a great choice.

What a great place to buy an all natural Laytex bed! They are comfortable and amazing. Gary is great and fun. His prices are more reasaonable than Cotton Cloud Futon. All the natural laytex beds keep out dust mites, bed begs and are all organic. So great!
Many of our freinds are happy with the beds that last 20 years!
We can’t wait to get ours.
