Amaaaazing food, atmosphere and service. Our waiter Justin, was very personable and attentive. There was an error in my order, they corrected it, no questions asked. The only complaint was the oyster appetizer… while delicious, they were itty bitty and not worth $ 20 for 6. Overall a most fabulous experience. The service and food beat The Ringside hands down… new fave spot! We will definitely be dining here again soon! Guests feel appreciated and attended to, even down to the valet service

I only went into the bar not the restaurant, but I was extremely disappointed. My friend and I ordered champagne because we were celebrating her birthday. We waited 30 minutes after ordering, no drinks and the waiter hadn’t checked in with us. The group of 4 right next to us at the bar got all their drinks. So we left and I won’t be returning.

Morton’s is something talked about and bragged about, but often questioned because of it’s prices. Is it a place I found I would be running back to to take my friends for or a nice happy hour? No. Not because I didn’t like it, but it’s not realistic for everyone price wise and that’s the honest truth. The service and ambiance was spot on to when we were greeted and the door was open for us and we were seated and our server shook each of our hands and introduced himself. We were offered mini flashlights if we couldn’t quite make out the menu because of the dimmed lighting and when my boss realized she forgot her glasses, our server came with a tray for anyone that needed reading glasses. Cocktail orders were taken and brought back quickly to the table. We took our time ordering our appetizers and then entrees and side dishes. We started with the baked escargot which came with a puff pastry, it was cooked very well and coated nicely with garlic. The ahi tuna tower was delicious as well, perfectly balanced. We couldn’t decide between the salads, so our server offered to split up the salads on separate plates for us. I had the bibb lettuce salad. Everything was brought out together and we were all served our plates at the same time, which we all know how frustrating it is to either get your plate and wait for everyone else or be the one everyone else is waiting on. It’s the simple things that make this restaurant what it is. Attention to detail makes it an experience and not just another steakhouse. I ordered the center cut filet mignon and fumbled on my words when ordering, knowing the chefs were probably spot on when it comes to the cook of the meat– which they were. This was definitely one of the best cooked steaks I’ve had in a very long time. I ordered the blue cheese to be on top of the filet, which really took things to the next level for me! For sides we all chose different ones to share around, since the sides aren’t small portions. We had the lyonnaise potatoes, brussels sprouts, twice baked au gratin potatoes and asparagus. The sides were very good. We were all tempted to order a couple more, but knew very well we were already over ordering. We had another cocktail during dinner, I had a Negroni, which I’m pretty darn picky about, but this was superb. Finally a well made cocktail! It was dessert time and though feeling defeated, we somehow still ordered two desserts– a slice of carrot cake(which could have fed all five of us) and some sort of apple crisp. The carrot cake was not something I’d have again. I tried a couple of bites and I know how ridiculous this sounds, but it was it tasted too much like carrot! Then the whipped cream on the side? Was just… cream. I suppose it’s something that’s supposed to just be there to cut into the sugary cake a bit, but it’s not that sugary of a cake. That was probably the only disappointment of the entire meal. It’s definitely a meal worth bragging about, but something I won’t be back for too soon. Definitely a place to go and put the money on the company card– oops did I say that? To ask your husband to treat you to– or your wife, for that special occasion.

I came here for my birthday and it was pretty fun. My boyfriend made the reservation and they were great! They took a photo of us during the dinner and framed it with all their signatures of the staff. I had a special menu for my birthday as well. The waiter was so nice and friendly, he really took care of us. We ordered mozzarella, tomatoes, and basil with a nice vingarette and fried Mac and cheese to start, I ordered the steak paired a beautiful Malbec and grilled asparagus and then followed by raspberry soufflé. It was all so delicious, it’s making my mouth water writing about it now!

Had an unpleasant experience here. We made reservations for Valentine’s Day here for us and another couple, so a party of 4. When we arrived we were seated at a tiny table that is what I consider a 2 person table. There was a empty booth right next to us that we asked to be moved to. The waiter asked the hostess in the front and she said no sorry that table is reserved. Our waiter was awesome, he went over the menu and recommended things for us. We ordered drinks and food– steaks of course– and sat rather uncomfortably– there was barely any room for anyone to put there elbows on the table, and that’s when we saw a couple — 2 ppl– get seated in the booth that could easily fit 4. My boyfriend was agitated and went to the manager and asked him if when someone makes a reservation, do they get a choice of tables, he replied no, so he asked why we could not have switched tables since the hostess can see that us a group of 4 shouldn’t be crammed into the tiny table when we could have easily just been seated at the booth. The manager didn’t really give an answer and we kind of were back where we started. Our bill was over 500 $ so we definitely didn’t get the service that we paid for. I was disappointed because one it was Valentine’s Day and two, I expected better service from a fancy place such as this.

If money were no issue, I’d go here a lot. It’s rare that you go a place and everything you get is not only worth eating, but is actually good. Well it was here. Bread was good. Caesar Salad was really good. The steak, NY steak, was great, as was my wife’s chicken christopher. The parmesan fries were good, though served in not exactly the most user friendly manner. The chocolate cake was super rich, but good too. Staff(would totally give a shout out if I could remember his name) was attentive. I was getting annoyed because my water cup was filled up every 2 minutes. I’m trying to restrict my fluids guys! Nah, I don’t hold my entirely subjective and odd medical needs against them. But man, the price. Cost more to eat there than it did to stay at the hotel a block away.

We were seated at the absolute worst table, despite having booked a reservation a month ago and requesting a quiet booth. Asked for a different table at check in: the 14 year old hostess with the napkin sized skirt said«Sorry, those are reserved». WTF? Food quality was so-so but seems to have gone downhill since our last few visits. The bus staff actually pulled out the chair at our table to «vacuum«under the chair, WHILEWEWEREDINING!!! Being seated near the cocktail pickup area, all we heard was«corner!» all evening. Morton’s management: please retrain your staff on fine dining etiquette. $ 255 for dinner, I really expected something much better. Disappointing. Not sure we’ll be back. With all the fine dining choices in Portland, you need to step it up Morton’s, to keep your regulars coming back in.

It’s been two years since I’ve been to mortons and it’s still the best food and service I’ve had anywhere… ever! I would eat here a lot more if I could afford to. Our server Justin was amazing. His recommendations for our steak was spot on, and the sides were even better. I have to say it’s more of an experience going to mortons and having Justin as your waiter. He really made my first time at this restaurant something to look forward too again. My husband and I were very pleased with everything.

I made a reservation for a dinner for 2 on Open Table for this evening, February 13th. This reservation required a credit card for booking, which I understand due to the quality of the restaurant and its cuisine. This morning I woke up sick and called to reschedule the reservation. When I spoke to the associate who answered the phone, he stated that he was happy to reschedule our reservation but that I would STILL be charged a $ 100 cancellation fee. He then proceeded to tell me, «Well, it was all in the terms and conditions of your booking site.» When I informed him that it wasn’t, he said he had no control and wouldn’t help me. I cancelled the reservation. There are a few problems with this, the first being that rescheduling is NOT the same thing as a cancellation and should not be treated as such. Secondly, talking to me like I am an idiot is uncalled for. I will certainly be going to this location to talk to the manager regarding this – it is unacceptable to charge a cancellation fee for a reschedule and then expect a patron to have any desire whatsoever to then give the restaurant their business.

This is my second time to have dinner in this place. The grilled seafood is always great, we really love that. The T-bone ribeye was good, but a little bit over cooked, outside part was burned. This place charged price by defining themselves high end steakhouse, but the decoration inside is hard to treated as high end(a little bit outdated decoration). Overall, the grilled seafood combo is definitely recommend for the place if you are seafood fan.

Enjoyed a pricey steak before the show Friday night! Jason was a good server and the selection was good. However, we left hungry :(. Even with apps. Lesson learned; don’t be cheap, order more sides. The bloody mary was 2 thumbs down unfortunately. I had a center cut filet and it was perfect so at least going to a steakhouse of this stature, produced a quality steak.

We ate at Morton’s on Friday before a show at Keller Auditorium. The food was amazing, and the service was even better — our waiter Justin was a star, he was extremely friendly and informative and made sure our first experience at Morton’s was a positive one. Definitely ask to sit at one of his tables the next time you have dinner here. I would have given them five stars, however, we came in for our reservation just before 6pm(the show was at 7:30pm) and didn’t have enough time to get through our whole meal. They were very upfront and addressed the tight timeline when we came in for dinner and assured us it wasn’t a problem. Unfortunately, they came back a short time later and advised us that they were extremely backed up in the kitchen and we wouldn’t have time to get to our hot dessert(you have to order it at the same time you do your meal). They had no problem charging us $ 18 for the dessert we had to order at the beginning of our meal and didn’t have time for. They did tell us they would have it ready for us after the show if we wanted to come back in(which we didn’t). I will definitely eat here again and sit at Justin’s table, just not before a show where time is limited.

Color me thoroughly unimpressed. First, let me just say that my husband has been a part of the Landry club for years and we regularly go to the partner restaurants(and very much enjoy our experiences), but this is the first time I’ve been to this location. Went here a little while back right before a theater show across the street at the Keller Auditorium(and when I say *right* before, I mean we had 5:45 reservations before a 7:30pm show time… i.e. in theory we had plenty of time). Fast forward to well after 6pm when our table finally got our menus, courtesy of a rather snobby waiter who said things along the lines of «I assume you know what desserts take longer and to order them now if you want to be out of here on time». He didn’t acknowledge me when I said no and asked what they were… I just moved here so really, how would I know? That was the first of several times I was ignored over the night. I did end up having a few questions about the drinks/menu, but the waiter was hardly there to be found(despite being a 60−70% full restaurant… it’s before 6pm on a Friday, so not overly crowded at all). I kept trying to ask one of the million bus boys and water-fillers, but they didn’t seem to know. No biggie, but then where is someone who does? Finally we were brought bread in a hunk. Literally, a huge hunk the size of almost a basketball that was uncut. Trying to cut this in any sort of tasteful manner at a ‘fine dining’ establishment was nearly impossible. The butter was great but only enough for about 3 «slices» worth of the bread. I asked for some more butter but that didn’t arrive until nearly when the meal did. So we all felt awkward pulling at this lump of bread like cavemen(one simple knife was not doing the trick at all). Fast forward nearly an hour after we first sat down and we finally got our food. I’m not a big red meat person so I ordered the shrimp pasta(along the lines of shrimp scampi). Apparently the waiter«assumed» again, because I was given a steak knife for my pasta. I just wanted to trade it in for a very large spoon to twist up the pasta on, but again couldn’t locate the waiter. I ate what I could but the shrimp was highly rubbery and burnt and the pasta sauce was rather bland. When I finally found him, I asked for my spoon and also my bread plate back(for the shrimp tales) most everyone else at the table was done. This is nearly 7pm. Based on the timing of the rest of the night, the fact that I wanted dessert was trumped by the fact that we wouldn’t be able to get it and make it to the first half of the show, I decided not to order. Bottom line, the servers were hovering when you didn’t want them there and invisible when you did; the food was unimpressive and the experience was not something that will lead me to be back.

My first time — the steaks were delicious and the sizes were incredible — service was ok — had to ask for bread several times and the waiter never really checked on us — overall — it was a nice restaurant for a special occasion– not an everyday place for me

Was very excited to take my family here for Christmas Eve dinner. The service was very attentive and we enjoyed all the wine thoroughly! Our Escargot and Salads were very good, so we greatly anticipated the steaks($ 50 – 60). When you pay this much for a steak, you expect perfection, and unfortunately, 2 of them came out undercooked. We never like to have steaks recooked so nibbled on the outsides and brought them home. I’d say that was the only thing we were disappointed in, but a $ 350 dinner really should be perfect and without issues.

I rarely give out 2 stars, however both the service and the food were blatantly lacking here and deserve the low rating… We visited on a Sunday evening and sat in the bar so we could snack and check out the scene. The bartenders seemed overwhelmed and didn’t even acknowledge me for several minutes. My gin martini was weak and the pour for the glass of pino was not anything to write home about. The filet trio was also lackluster. Each piece of beef was overcooked. Two of the three were over medium rare; one was borderline medium well. The sauces also lacked both seasoning and creativity. The tastiest one was basically a pile of melted blue cheese crumbles that sadly happened to adorn the most unpalatable piece of beef on the plate so could not even eat it. The hamburger which we ordered rare was also overlooked to medium well. Despite leaving the one piece of filet on the plate for several minutes, no one checked in to ask us how our meal was. My dining partner finished the burger for no other reason beyond the fact that he was starved. Overall we were severely disappointed and will not be returning. For being a so-called steakhouse, there is much to be desired in the service and quality of the meat dishes.

I had a gift card to Morton’s and I was not exactly sure what to expect. When we arrived with our 20 month old toddler I quickly realized that it really isn’t geared towards families. We were graciously placed in a booth that was mostly tucked away in the corner. It was a beautiful restaurant with dark wood and wine displayed tastefully throughout the restaurant. We started off with the wedge salad with tomatoes and blue cheese. The dressing was the best I have ever tasted and we learned that it is made in house. It also had crumbled bacon on top. Soooo good… Then I had a 8 ounce filet mignon steak what was perfection. The meat was tender and juicy and seasoned perfectly. No gristle anywhere to be seen. I also had it with a side of cheesy twice baked potatoes. My husband order the steak that came with scallops and prawns. He loved everything. He ordered the side of brussel sprouts which he was not a fan of. They were steamed and came out soggy and had a weird mustard sauce on them. This was definitely a meal that was worth the expensive price tag. I will definitely reserve this for special occasions where next time it will be us sans toddler. :)

Food is excellent, Service Sucks, I eat out and i mean i eat out, when you have to wait for 15 minutes to get a menu because your waiter is watching the football game at the bar thats not good service, he walked over not even said sorry for the delay and had some poor excuse that he was at another table, which he was lying we saw him at outside of the bar watching the game. I give the food 5 star service 0 so it averages to 3 star, I am sure there are other great waiters that work hard but this guy was just terrible on many occasions .when i am paying $ 65 for steak and tipping %25 i want everything to be perfect no excuse.

There are a lot of steak houses in Portland, and I think we have been to most of them. My wife said it this morning regarding Morton’s: That was the most expensive lousy meal I think we have ever had. I myself didn’t think it was lousy but it wasn’t very good and if you are going to spend almost three hundred dollars for a meal for two it should be really good. Let’s start with valet service. That was excellent. Ten dollars with tip. We were seated quickly for a Saturday night and the restaurant wasn’t too busy, which indicated to me that something might be wrong with this place. Everything here is expensive. We each started out with cocktails. They were well made but not strong enough for my taste. We were served this big bread with a plate of butter. That was excellent. We shared a Morton’s salad which as a signature salad I would expect to be more inspired but it was alright by me but my wife wouldn’t eat it. She had them take her half away and she tried the lobster bisque instead. She didn’t like that much either. It seemed they«stretched» the recipe by adding too much cream. She wanted prime rib which Morton’s doesn’t serve so she opted for the ribeye instead. I had a mixed grill of filet, shrimp and bacon wrapped scallops. The seafood was good. I was disappointed by the steak. It was tender but not very flavorful. We also shared a baked potato which was perfectly prepared and had all the usual toppings. Morton’s has an extensive and expensive wine list. The cheapest Cabernet was $ 45 which retails for about ten dollars. I know wines very well and that shouldn’t even be on a menu at a place like this. But its probably for those who want some wine but are surprised by the prices. We opted for the BV Cabernet which was $ 75 and from what I saw was the best value on the wine list. It retails for $ 20 but wine at restaurants is always very expensive. So that doesn’t bother me. We didn’t have dessert. The staff is excellent. Even though I was casually dressed we were treated well. You really have to give diners a good value these days to survive in the restaurant business and with so many options I’m not surprised that Morton’s was not the busy restaurant it was twenty years ago. Fifty dollar entrées should taste like it. So if I were managing this place I would sit down at The Ringside or Portland Prime and take notes.

Morton’s is good. It has good drinks. It has good food. It has friendly and attentive staff. I’ve visited three times now. The first was for a drink at the bar. I had a lemon drop which was delicious. The bartender was attentive, which was excellent as we were waiting on an event at the Keller. My subsequent visits were for business events. I had the steak the first time. It was good and cooked as I requested. Was it the best steak I’ve ever had… no…but it was delicious. The second time I had the salmon. Also good. Their appetizers(crab cakes, lamb, bruschetta, scallops) are also pretty tasty. I recently had a delicious cab sav there too. Basically, their food is good and worth trying at least once. Morton’s hasn’t won a spot as one of my favorite restaurants or as the best steak in Portland, but maybe that’s just me. Maybe it’ll end up being your favorite steak.

Wow, wow, wow is all I can say! I have tried many steakhouses, and this steakhouse was absolutely amazing! My husband and I are visiting Portland and wanted a good steak and realized this steakhouse was only 3 blocks from our hotel! Anyways, let’s start off with the appetizers… Our waiter Jason was honestly AMAZING with his recommendations. He suggested the bacon wrapped scallops and we also ordered the shrimp Alexander. He suggested ordering an extra scallop so we would both be able to have 2(great way to upsell:)) the scallops were cooked absolutely perfectly. Seared to perfection yet not overdone at all. The shrimp Alexander’s were pretty good… But I think next time we will do the shrimp cocktail… Now, dinner: we both ordered the filet mignon… My husband ordered the 8oz and I got the 6oz… My steak was utterly amazing. It literally melted in my mouth! I’m pregnant and was a little hesitant to order my steak medium plus, but it’s tenderness was equivalent to the usual way I get my steak of medium rare. My husbands steak was cooked to perfection as well! Jason again was on point in recommending my husband a perfect pairing of a Cabernet by the name of I believe Raymond primal…(Not sure exactly)… My hubby had 3 or 4 glasses! Amazing amazing. Dessert: we ordered the chocolate soufflé… Not too sweet paired with some sort of cream to go with it… Delicious! Great place to catch a good steak… Wait time to be seated was almost no wait at all. Service was really the main reason I would return… Great job Jason! Oh, almost forgot we ordered two sides: cream corn(okay not my thing my hubby loved it though) and the grilled asparagus…(a little different as it was drizzled with balsamic vinegar… I would do without that next time but very good non the less) try this place If you truly are a steak kind of person!

Been to Morton’s plenty of times and enjoyed the food and atmosphere. For the first time I’d have to say the service wasn’t up to par. Our server was new I think and he didn’t know how to time manage all of his tables or either that he focused only on this one table. Oh well, I would of gave a 5 star review because the food tasted very delicious.

This place is very expensive. But you do get more than just great food and drink; you get a fine dining experience. That’s why Morton’s gets 4 stars. The steaks are nice, but the service is exceptional. You should absolutely plan to spend 3 hours if you’re having dinner. We left 2.5 before a show at the Keller and could have enjoyed for a bit longer. FOOD We ordered steaks and sides. The prime bone-in rib eye was amazing. The center cut rib eye was fine too but nothing special. Get the BONEIN because that’s where it’s at. It’s an extra $ 10 from the center cut but don’t think twice. Sides of brussels sprouts and au gratin were both perfectly cooked. Overall, the food is basic meat and potatoes and creamy, unoriginal sides. This is an old school place and the food is old school style. DRINKS Fine selection of wines from old world and new, and a couple from Oregon too. Beers and ciders were lacking and were very overpriced, but just enough variety for those who might want a brew.(i.e. order wine) AMBIANCE Tables and space are perfect for an intimate conversation. The lighting is very dim(TOO dim) but it can be overlooked unless you are with people who need flashlights or magnifying glasses. SERVICE Over-exceptional. We were treated like family even though it was the first time we’d come. I imagine this place has frequent wealthy regulars. Our server(Mark) was highly informative, and fantastic in every way. He kept timing impeccably and kept our leftovers labeled so we could return to get them after the show. And even after a full night everyone(server, bartender, hostess, valet) remembered our names, drinks, and order. In conclusion, if you’re looking for a nice«good olé’ boys» type of place with exceptional service, this is the ticket!

Solid 3.5 rating. Fantastic food and service but ambiance is very depressing, the average age of the clientele is like 50+ years old. The place is also very old and tired looking. If you are looking for a more fun steakhouse experience which I prefer you are better off going to Ruth’s, El Gaucho or Urban Farmer. Now to the food and drinks. I had the filet mignon and would say it is in the top 5 in Portland. Very soft and came with a delicious sauce that enhanced the flavor of the meat. Usually I am against putting sauces on a good piece of steak but this definitely makes it taste better. For my drink I had a melon spritzer which is probably one of the best cocktails I’ve had in town but is pretty spendy at $ 15. And for dessert, the crème broulee is so good. Service was great and the waiters are very outgoing and knowledgeable about all the different cuts of steak. If they had a better location in downtown along with making it a more fun experience I would definitely give this place 5 stars.

Portland has great food and service so you can imagine my surprise when we arrived for our dinner reservation at Downtown Mortan’s and were promptly seated and had to wait ~ ½ hour before we were properly greeted by our server. I want to be clear the steak house was not crowded and the server was fantastic. I place the poor service on management not my server. With that said Morton’s stood by their quality of food as the steak and shrimp were great. The bottom line is great food and poor service. Today was my first time at Mortons, and oh my, it was definetly a delightful experience. DELICIOUSSTEAK. seriously the best filet mignon I’ve had,(my filet came with shrimp and bacon wrapped scallops that were amazingg! They were so meaty and jumbo sized! — I absolutely LOVE scallop and shrimp. The apricot sauce that came with the seafood was delish as well). I can’t emphasize how wonderful the steak is– juicy, tender, flavorful that just melts in your mouth. GAHHH. Even the complimentary onion bread is amazing. On top of the excellent food, our server, Jeremy, was wonderful! He was friendly and everything was timed to perfection. One of the BEST service I’ve had! But seriously, if I could, I would eat here once a week: D

We have been to Morton’s before, in another location, and while the service and food was very good, the Portland Morton’s was completely amazing. We went to Morton’s for our anniversary dinner. From reservation to dessert, everything was fantastic! When I called to make the reservation, they asked for my occasion. I told them it was an anniversary dinner. When we arrived and gave our name, the first thing they said was«happy anniversary.» I thought it was very sweet that they made a note of that. So we’re inside, and the ambiance is awesome. It was apparent that Morton’s is THE place to dine for all demographics. Young, old, hipster, every culture, tourists, locals, executives, laborers… They even have«regulars,»(I wish I could afford to be a regular!) Upon being seated, they moved the table out for us to sit down. No sliding into the booth here! I’ve had my share of fancy dining experience, but I’ve never even heard of that. Next, they bring the menu, which has been customized specifically for us. At the top is the date, and«happy anniversary.» It seems like they cyber-stalked us or something, because everything on the one page menu is one of my or my husbands favorites dishes. Our server, Jason talked about the menu with us, wished us a happy anniversary, and made sure our order was exactly right. I was surprised that he was quite personable. My usual experience at nicer restaurants is that the personnel tend to be a bit stuck-up or «all business.» While waiting for our food, we asked Jason to take our picture. He did, but he also let us know that a photographer would be coming to take one for us too. They have a photographer!?! While we were eating, the photographer did indeed come to take a photo(which turned out so good, I am using part of it as my profile pic on Unilocal.) Needless to say, the picture we took with my phone was completely pathetic compared to the one they took for us. Dinner was great, of course, and exactly as ordered. I made a little bit of a mess, but apparently they keep little tools in their pocket just for cleaning up between courses. Another wow. I can’t believe these types of tools even exist. Who thinks of this stuff? This next part is a little bit freaky. Maybe you have to be psychic to work at Mortons, but if you were psychic, wouldn’t you just win the lotto? So Jason comes back around, and we asked him if we could order desert. He says sure and whips out a menu. We thought a «desert for two» sounded good so we picked one of those. When he came back to take our order just 5 minutes later, we discovered that he had already placed our order and it was in the process of being prepared. Thus, our soufflé(doesn’t it take at least a half hour to make these?) was on the table within another few minutes. Seriously, how do they DO that? Lastly, a fun fact: When I searched Unilocal for«mortons» to write this review, I misspelled and left out the letter T, and unknowingly searched for«morons.» A certain popular food chain popped up. Try it! It is highly unlikely that we will wait until our next anniversary to go to Morton’s again.
