Mississippi’s Delta BBQ

We worked with Brian from Mississippi’s Delta BBQ to cater our wedding. You might not think of BBQ as wedding food, but I can’t tell you how many compliments we got and how happy people were.
First of all, the food is amazing. Incredible. Some of the best BBQ I’ve ever eaten. Ever. That alone would be reason enough to hire them. But there’s plenty more. In addition to the meat, which people think of when they think of BBQ, Brian offered us an entire menu including sides, fresh salads, and appetizer options. They were there at the beginning of the event and ready to go with snacks when our guests showed up. Brian was also super responsive by email and always willing to handle questions, requests, or changes. Dietary restrictions? Not a problem. We had a few vegan guests and Brian handled it without hesitation.
Believe me, you want good food at your wedding. So hire these guys. You won’t be disappointed.

Sometimes in life you just get lucky. Finding out about Mississippi’s was one of those times. You know how every wedding reception has the worst food ever? Now picture the complete opposite of that and you’ll know what it was like having Mississippi’s for out reception. The food was so choice, and for more than 200 people. Not easy to do.
But you know what was even better? How easy they were to work with. We kept waiting for something to go wrong — they wouldn’t show, they’d suddenly charge too much, something. Nope. They were so nice, so accommodating and at every turn they made our life less stressful. Huge, huge win. Hire them and don’t second guess yourself.

Friendly operators, amazingly yummy food, and great sized portions for the price. My favorite is the smoked chicken bowl with the macaroni salad! I like to eat the chicken first and then mix the mac salad and the Cajun style rice together.
I’ve also had the beef brisket sandwich, but be forewarned that its good BBQ so the sandwich can be a little messy! Something I hadn’t considered when ordering this at my security post.
The single addition I would love to see is some Burnt Ends! Add those to the menu and watch this four star easily become a five star!!!

I had a ‘Sippi Bowl with garlic lime slaw, pork, and brisket with the Carolina BBQ sauce.
I feel like my life has been changed and I’ll never be the same– I mean that in a real kind of way.
This is, without a doubt, the best southern food I’ve had in YEARS.
I would recommend it to anyone in the mood for what rivals mama’s cookin’.

Wow. Just a sandwich (bbq brisket) but pure perfection. Melts in the mouth at the same time that it titillates the tongue. Must. Go. Back.

Must try the beef brisket (fatty part) with Mac salad. It tastes like HEAVEN! My boyfriend and I have ordered this thousands of times. And we also introduce lots of friends to try, they LOVE it!!! The service is awesome, treat customers like old friends!!! Strongly recommend!!!

Brian Rodgers and his attentive team catered our company’s outdoor summer event. I’m so glad we selected Mississippi’s Delta BBQ because the food was excellent and the service made my planning easier and execution effortless. Brian was able to accommodate all my special requests including bar service. Brian’s charm and easy-​going southern hospitality put us at ease and his attention to detail included showing-​up early with the team to make sure everything was setup properly and that we were happy.
Everyone loved the brisket which, in my opinion, is the best I’ve eaten in Portland. Tender, juicy, smoky, flavorful meat with the delicious sauces earns five stars easily!

Mississippi Delta BBQ catered my wedding and it was a flawless experience. They were easy to work with — very responsive and professional. The food was delicious! A comment I keep hearing a month later from guests is that the food was delectable and the caterer really went above and beyond.
I have not had the occasion to visit the food truck, but when I’m in Portland next I definitely will.

Very good bbq stand. The guy is very friendly and the food is tasty. Haven’t tried the chicken, but the pork and brisquit are very good. Prices are reasonable.

Brian and his crew from Mississippi Delta BBQ did a fabulous job for my son’s wedding rehearsal dinner at our home. The food was delicious, the staff were friendly and so helpful (Brian the owner was there and is a delight), everything was great. I did all the booking with Brian via email and it worked out great. We had 40 people and there was tons of food and left overs for the next day. Appetizers were plated and ready when the guests arrived. I highly recommend the smoked salmon on crackers. The smoked turkey and beef brisket were so yummy. And the berry cobbler topped it all off. I recommend them highly!!!

I just had Mississippi Delta cater our Wedding Rehearsal last weekend, it was so good! Everyone loved the short ribs! The pulled pork, mac salad and coleslaw was amazing as well. Thank you for bringing everything out to Beaverton and picking it up! Brian is super awesome to work with, he made everything so easy for me!

Best BBQ in Portland – no question. Choice of sandwich or Sippi bowl. Choice of beef brisket, pulled pork, and chicken. Fantastic sides. I had the macaroni salad. Cajun Rice could be a great dish by itself, but provides a great flavor base. I had people in the street asking «Where did you get that?» Well it’s a little cart on 4^th and Columbia (in the summer time). Owner is the nicest person you could ever meet. Very inexpensive option as well, compared to how expensive bbq is in the rest of Portland. Podnah’s and Pine Shed, you better recognize the new face of Portland BBQ. Yumm.

I stopped by the cart on 4^th and Clay last week and had a brisket sandwich. The sandwich was a great value for the money, great cole slaw also. The brisket was good, I would have preferred a little more smoke on it, but that is just my preference. I will definitely be back to try the pulled pork, chicken and other sides.

Excellent barbecue. Thanks again to Brian and the guys for another awesome company picnic. Being a southerner myself, I know where its at, and this is the spot for that delta flavor.

Awesome tender BBQ much better than the Pine Shed Ribs & Barbecue in Lake Oswego.
This place is outdoors under at umbrella next to the Library til the end of May. During the summer they move to 4^th & Columbia

I’ve overhead Brian say to prospective customers, «All I need is one time, then I gotcha hooked!» Boy is he right about that. I absolutely love this food cart, and frequent it (probably 3 times a week, there, I said it) when school’s in session.
The brisket is pretty good, but nothing to write home about. The pulled pork is where it’s at; I recommend getting it with both spicy mustard and spicy BBQ sauce on top. Juicy, tender, big flavor, the pork hits every note. The macaroni salad is also phenomenal, and I – in literally every other instance– absolutely dislike macaroni salad, and can’t stomach more than a bite of it. Not too much to say about the rice except for that it’s tasty as well!
Overall, it’s the best BBQ I’ve had in Portland; 5 stars, grade A, highly recommended!

These guys catered a big lunch for my office today (200+ people) and WOW… they hit it out of the park. The office was already abuzz as word spread that Mississippi Delta was catering.
Brian was extremely responsive and friendly as we worked out all the details via email. He and Chris delivered all the goods to our office and cheerfully set things up buffet-​style. I barely had to lift a finger. Except for when my fingers were lifting cornbread to my mouth.
The food was AMAZING. Our menu included pulled pork, smoked chicken, slaw, mac salad, baked beans, two different BBQ sauces, buns and cornbread. Every item was stupid delicious, although I really gotta give it up for the pulled pork and mac salad. All my co-​workers raved about the food (and thanked me endlessly — these guys made me look good!). We now have an office full of happy, full-​bellied employees on the brink of food coma.

Really great food stand run by really great people. Mississippi’s Delta BBQ really is one of the best lunches around PSU campus. Meat is cooked to perfection and is served up with a variety of sauces and sides.
It’s pretty healthy, fast, inexpensive… I’m not really sure what more you could want from a BBQ joint.

If you’re downtown & are craving delicious but cheaply priced BBQ then Mississippi’s Delta BBQ is it.
My friend & I both ordered the sippi bowl which includes a choice of meat, plus mac salad & rice; add an extra side, i.e. green beans or baked beans for $ 1. Our meals, including drink, were under $ 9.
I opted for the pulled pork which we both thought tasted better than the beef brisket. I’m more of a pulled pork fan anyways so maybe I’m not the best person to judge the brisket. There was a generous portion of tender & flavorful meat with excellent BBQ sauce. The mac salad & rice were delicious as well & there was so much food I couldn’t eat it all in one sitting.
The owner is super friendly & his food cart is conveniently located near Keller Fountain Park which is awesome during a sunny day in PDX.
