Miller Paint

I’ve probably been here 4 times before, but we had a particularly excellent time with John today so I thought I’d write a review. He gave us a good explanation and advice on an old fraction of a 5 gallon we had, and tested to decide if it was still good (it was). He was patient while we worked out our math for how much area, and also when I decided I needed to correct the math later. I’ve been totally satisfied with the product (acro pure) in my previous purchases over the years.
Also, advice to readers: grab a chinook book for a coupon that’s worth more than the cost of a chinook book.

I’m a loyal Miller customer and never use any other paint. Today however, I just needed one quart and I happened to be at Home Depot, so I bought their Behr paint, which I’d heard was good. I will never use it again. It goes on thick and creamy, but ten minutes later there are drips where you never expected them. I just learned once again how good Miller paint is.

John was so helpful. After a lot of confusion at Sherwin Williams, I went local and was so glad. John recommended eggshell finish for ceilings and I got a great deal on super-​low voc paint. Thanks Millers!

I know they’re just doing their job and probably following a script but I find it very annoying that *every* time I come in they question me intently about what I intend to do with the paint. I know what I want to do with the paint! I’m not a child. I will ask if I have questions. Please just sell me the paint. It’s so annoying that I would shop elsewhere if there were anywhere else with the same range of colours nearby.

This Miller paint shop has excellent service. Can’t remember his name, but the guy who looks and sounds like Jonah Hill is very smart and knowledgeable about what paint to use for your projects. They have plenty of color options so price will depend on what quality you want. A standard eggshell will run you $ 25 – 30 a gallon and painting is one of the best ways to add some value to your home.

Customer service was very good and even carried all the paint to the car for me.

Since this is within walking distance of our home I will be making many trips here. Actually is not much the distance as the terrible paint used in the house we just bought down the street.
So far the staff has been friendly but often overwhelmed by contractors. Like other reviewers I have experienced the extended wait times.
They do not have the best prices but I am paying for convenience so maybe it comes out in the wash… walking versus gas money…
The best thing I have experienced has been a custom paint mixing based on a couple of samples I brought in. None of the samples they had on display was a good match but the clerk worked it out in few hours for a perfect match.

WHY IS EVERYTHING SO DAMN EXPENSIVE?! $ 15 for the same roll of tape that Home Depot sells for $ 9… pretty much the same for every item in their store, and that’s «member pricing». What’s the point of having a membership if the prices are still astronomical?

I decided that I wanted to add a chalkboard speech bubble to my props arsenal for the Oh Snap Fauxtobooth! Miller Paint delivered on every level. The clerk was very helpful and even shook up the paint for me on one of those automatic paint shaker things.
The service was excellent, the store has a nice layout, and we were in and out of there in 10 minutes.

The store in Hollywood can and will mix or remix any color. They take the time to do it right. They are also very helpful if you need info on what type of paint to use, how much, etc.

Caters to Pro painters. Always understaffed because it is ran like franchise retail. Unless you are knowledgable and are pretty much self serve, you are going to get better service at Home Depot.

This is a review for the one on Sandy, and I love this place! I believe that it is worker-​owned, and it shows in the way they do business. I went here a number of times when I first moved into my new home.
They remembered me and asked about how it was going. Each time, they made sure that I was getting the same paint as I had gotten before.
They help you out to your car, which is kind of weird – a throw back to the 50’s, but whatever. They do it for men and women alike, so at least it’s not sexist. Plus, there were a few times that I just didn’t feel like taking them to my car.
ONE MORE BONUS: This place is WAY less crowded than the one on Grand, so you get better, quicker service. They also have their own parking lot, so you don’t have to try and find a spot in the busy Hollywood area. Oh, and the more environmentally-​sound Acro-​Pure paint is awesome too! Didn’t stink up my house like a lot of other paints do.

I’ve been in this location probably ten times over the last year for a large renovation project. I’ve had nothing but good experiences. The owner or manager is usually there and is really pleasant & helpfull. I would definately reccomend this place, particularly if you can buy your paint & gear on an account which will save you some cash.

This is more a review of the Miller location on Grand Ave, because I’ve been there much more often, but the same probably applies to this location (I have been here, but one once or twice). The employees are always helpful and friendly, but there just never seem to be enough of them. Pretty much every time I go into a Miller Paint location I have to wait at least 5 – 10 minutes before I get helped. They have a pretty good selection of painting supplies and different finishes, but I have to say, their colors SUCK. I mean, big time. If you’re looking for anything even remotely subtle color-​wise, this is not the place to go. Their paint is fine, and they do color match, so you can always go to Ben Moore (who, even though their paint costs an arm and a leg, by far and away have the best selection of colors out there) or Home Depot and have the colors matched here. But honestly, if you’re already at Home Depot, might as well just get the Behr paint, which is cheaper and just as good if not better.
I recently had the annoying experience here of trying to secure a quart of Gym Coat (what’s that? Think of the finish on a gymnasium floor). I only had a small project, and all they had in the store were gallons, which were $ 30 or something. So, I asked if they had quarts. Yes, they did, but they were at the warehouse, and had to be transferred. They said they should have it in the next day, and would call me when it came in. I never got a call, and I stopped in a few days later, and the guy kind of looked at me cross-​eyed when I told him the story. He said «well, did we call you to say it came in?» I said «No, but the girl said it was meant to come in the next day». «Well, we’ll call you when it comes in». A week goes by, still no phone call, so I stop in again. Wait 10 minutes to get helped, talk to the original girl who I talked to in the first place. She has no recollection of me placing the order, and there’s no record of the order in the books (despite that I saw her write down the order). She apologizes, re-​does the order, and promises left and right, up and down that it should be in tomorrow and she will personally call me when it comes in. Tomorrow comes, no phone call. I finally found the time today to stop in and see what the f* was going on, and… well, the quart HAD finally arrived, it’s just that no one bothered to call me. Evidently the original girl had been out sick for a week.
Whatever. All’s well that ends well, but what a pain in the ass.

Miller on Interstate is only a few blocks away from us so of we
went in to hopefully to get information, help something.
What we got was first ignored treated rudely like we interrupted something even though there was only a few other people in the store. (we have been to other Miller locations and have been treated the same)
Then we got a long story of why we need to spend way more —
because of our color choice and because of the age of
our house. So we left shopped around found friendly people willing
to help, not make us feel stupid and at a reasonable price. It would have been better if we found house painters who bought the paint but that is another story.

I had been renovating an old, decrepit, little house from the 1950’s for the past couple of months, and was very happy to have found Miller Paint Company. Why? Lots of reasons…
1. Really, really, really good service. You walk in, they say hi. Even though they are always very busy — it’s a hot spot for contractors picking up paints. They manage to make sure everyone is taken care of, consistently (I went in there at least twice a week to pick up more paint because I was repainting every room of my house).
They always walk you to your vehicle! They carry your things for you. It’s wonderful. Extra funny: I’m a bicyclist, I carry my paints in a huge bike basket — they *walked me to my bike*. These people rock.
2. They’ve got the goods. I am trying to be Miss Eco Painter here, and they carry a line of no VOC paint, called Acro Pure. Woo! It costs a few bucks extra per gallon, but I don’t mind and the paint looks great.
They color match. Bring in your auntie’s painting of puppies, or a swatch of neat-​o fabric, and they make a paint as close as they can to your color.
They have a good section of faux painting materials: rollers, crackle stuff, you name it. I used to poo-​poo that kind of painting but fell prey to the idea of using *metallic* paint. They have really cool looking mica additive to make sparkles, too.
The prices are great for all the accessories like tape, rollers, plastic sheeting, etc. They are knowledgeable about what’s useful and can help you find what you need.
All in all, Miller Paint offers so much, I highly recommend going there. They made my extremely tiring renovation a little more easy, a lot more bearable.
