I really just wanted to reiterate what everyone else is saying – Al Miller and his crew are amazing. I haven’t previously owned a car in Portland, but all my car-​owner friends said Miller Mechanical should be my first and only stop. Stop there I did and I won’t regret it.
I walked in to get a quote for some work I had been quoted on at another shop during a regular oil change. Not only did Miller Mechanical beat the price, but I walked out of there feeling much more knowledgeable and comfortable about spending 500+ buckaroos. Al took me on a tour of my new (used) SUV, gave me some GREAT common sense techniques to extend the life of the car and even asked, «So, what else would you like to see!» in the most excited tone. I talked to him for awhile afterwards and not only does he love what he does more than anything, he wants to share that love with you, the customer. I was a part of the experience, not just sitting in the waiting room the whole time. It should be noted that his sidekicks were just as sweet and honest as Al. Good people surround themselves with other good people.

Al Miller loves what he does and is really good at it. Every time I bring my car to Miller Mechanical, I get a detailed explanation of the problem and leave with that problem resolved. Along the way, I usually learn something new about automotive repair.
I once brought Al a used car that I was considering buying. He patiently inspected the vehicle and clearly explained to me what he was doing and what he was looking for. Ultimately, I decided not to buy the car. But more importantly, I now know how to size up a used car on my own.
I cannot recommend Miller Mechanical enough.

These guys are the absolute best. They really believe in cars and want drivers to be empowered with their vehicles. Al always explains in details what went wrong and how it can be prevented in the future. I moved further away from his shop and make the drive crosstown to work with Al.

These guys are honest, reliable, and patient. I’ve been driving a dying car for ages and they were VERY helpful a number of times with minor repairs and routine service. Most recently I had my car towed here when I broke down on I-​84
They served the sad news about my timing belt with coffee and cookie, let me leave the car for a day to get it towed for scrap, and then agreed to support me in my used car search by being available for pre-​purchase inspection.
The very best. I can’t recommend them enough.

Al Miller, do you have any idea how great you are? In a world of sleazy and scammy car mechanics, you are the shining star that reminds me there is good in the world.
I was so incredibly impressed that, when we had some minor car trouble after getting an oil change there, they told us to come in after work (after they closed! because we couldn’t get there earlier!) so they could check it out. It turned out to be a minor tweak that was of no fault of theirs, but they fixed it for free! And told us how to avoid it in the future.
Even if I wind up moving out of the neighborhood, I will make sure to come here!

I sent my wife there with our 2010 Honda Fit for a 30k mile checkup and oil change since I had to work during the day. They were very friendly to her and didn’t try to up-​sell at all. They made our car a priority since she was staying there instead of leaving the car for the day. One hour and ~$ 30 later she was out of there.
It’s the price of a Jiffy Lube with quality service! I’ll definitely be going there again.

I will never go here again my transmission was acting up and they determined I needed a transmission fluid flush and filter change. They charged me $ 320! Two days later it was acting up again and I took it to a different mechanic who determined it was the gear shifting controls. He said for a transmission fluid and flush on my car he would have done for $ 90. Millers service was also slow and they had lost my paperwork when I went to pick up the car. So honest service my ass, my car was still broken and I got totally ripped off.

We had a step van inspected by Al Miller before we purchased it. I can’t speak in words how amazing this shop is. Al walked us through step by step what he was looking for and explained to us what we were looking at in terms of maintenance in buying the van. I have taken cars to many mechanics and this shop would get all of my business if i didn’t live in Seattle. The rates were completely fair.
