The Mead Market is fantastic. A great selection of mead and much education to be had by all. Sign up for their mailing list so you find out about all the cool tasting opportunities. The staff members are all very knowledgable and helpful! Great place for bee related gifts too. Check them out when you’re in Portland!

Mead market with so many options you’ll wish you were on a trust fund not only for the money but time you’ll need to try all the good mead! I’m half way though the variety I picked up a few weeks back and I can’t wait to get back for more. One of the owners helped me sample a bunch of meads from the fresh and sparking to the ones that taste like a honey apple pie melted in your mouth. They also carry two types of Tej(Ethiopian honey wine), which isa special treat as well. Overall this place couldn’t be better, what a cool store for mead lovers and the mead curious alike. Oh yeah and they have all things bee there too in the adjoining space from honey and candles to bee keeping stuff.

This is the place to go if you are looking for any kind of honey wine/mead variety(most grocery stores only carry Chaucers brand which isn’t very good). You will find all sorts of mead here — spicy cinnamon mead, strawberry mead, sparkling mead, dry mead, sweet mead, I could go on like Bubba in Forrest Gump, and they are all showcased in beautiful bottles boasting cultures from across the world. The prices are very reasonable as well. Every weekend they have free tastings and the workers are knowledgeable and friendly. While you are there you can visit their main staple which is beekeeping regalia, beeswax, and honey products. The only negative is that parking is slim to none so make sure you find a spot around Hawthorne and take a stroll in. I also wish they had a more expensive selection of drinking horns, but maybe this is to come. My favorite mead so far is Heidrun which is as close to a mead champagne as you can get. They accept cards. Stop on by!

The Mead Market is a store within Bee Thinking. It is the best single place in Portland for all things mead — wine made from honey. They have over 40 meads from all over the world. Books on mead. Classes on making it yourself. Sometimes mead tasting. Mead styles vary. Dry to sweet. Some with fruit added pre-fermentation, or post. Some are hopped. A few are from meaderies going back in history. They also have two varieties of tej — an Ethiopian fermented drink more from the beer, not wine, family, flavored with honey. Knowledgeable staff on mead, honey and bees!
