This place made my sick to my stomach. Still trying to hold down the food since I’m still at work. Might be better off throwing this up. Hard pass on coming here again.

The food isn’t bad here. But the staff never smile and they talk really quietly. I went here hoping to just get drinks and chips/salsa cuz I was in a hurry. After the waiter brought the drinks to me and my friend he asked if we want food and we said no thanks just getting drinks. In a rude tone he says that we have to get food if we order drinks. I was confused by this because I’ve never been to any restaurant or bar that has that rule. I wish I had just left then and there. I wasn’t impressed. And won’t ever be back.

Awesome large plates of Mexican food. I think the margaritas and daquiri’s must be nice here because practically every single table I see here has a nice tall colorful drink on it(unfortunately I don’t imbibe). Service is good and décor is inviting and clean.

There are MUCH better choices for Mexican food in the Cedar Mill area! The food here is not very good and the prices are high considering the low quality and small portion size

The place was about empty at 8:30pm on Monday. Nice waiter, decent generic restaurant, booths. Salsa seemed like it was from a jar, as did the bean dip. The chips were fresh and warm. Dinner was not impressive, chimichangas were large and crispy, the filling(one beef, one chicken) were below par with generic rice and beans. The crispy chili relleno was not good. Service was OK, the place is OK … Just nothing more than a very average chain Mexican place.

Juan is the best. Love the chicken la crema and chile relleno. Margs are on point as well. Definitely a go to

They’re always super fast and friendly. Their piña coladas and chicken enchiladas are especially delicious.

Too bad… Two stars. Took too long to get someone to acknowledge us when we sat down. The store was empty, so I’m not sure why that makes it difficult. Then, we wait for our drinks, maybe he didn’t put the order in. Food was terrible, followed by more bad service. We won’t be back!

Is there any way to rate this five place zero stars? I went here to eat Mexican food. What I got brought to my table was not Mexican food. It tastes like frozen food. The waitress did not know the menu and had a horrible attitude. NEVERCOMINGBACK specially after I found a hair in my food and the rude ass waitress said it wa my own! Next time I want REAL Mexican food I’m going to Amelia’s and they’ll be having they’re liquor license soon

My husband and I have been coming to this restaurant for about 10 years. Juan always knows what we want and has our usual drinks at our table in a jiffy no matter how busy they are. The food is always great. I agree with the previous reviewer about the change in their location. We missed them terribly while they were moving and remodeling the new location. Parking is tricky due to the high level of traffic in and out of the liquor store and Walgreens has taken up far more than their fair share of the parking by marking spots near the restaurant«Walgreens Customers Only». This does not stop us! The homey feel is coming back, due largely in part to a new partition giving diners near the front door more privacy. Always great, will continue to come as often as we can-usually every Sunday.

Had the beef carnitas, it arrived laden in a teriyaki sauce, sweet and sugary. The meat was low quality as well with about 15 of the meat being gristle. Nice people but I probably won’t be back soon.

Best waiter– Juan. Fantastic service, has been a dear friend for years, since we started going there. Best plate– Chicken Ranchera Salsa– mild Location– its a bummer. They were in their original old location when we found them. Due to strip mall lease they were given the boot to make way for a pharmacy. Now in the new location it’s lost its pizazz. Lost it’s original homey feel and you’re left with a cold, new open blah restaurant. I miss the old joint. sniff. Something seemed to have changed w/the food as well. They now serve beans w/the salsa and chips. The meals seem different and seasoning is off. Im not sure in this move if they went the franchise way or what. This wont stop me from going… they are good people and I cant go with out seeing Juan. Neither can my friends and family. Give it a shot. Let them know whats good and whats not w/o being snarky.

I have come here more times than I can count with my husband who is Hispanic, currently servinging in Iraq and always had great experience. Tonight I came in alone and had a «very weak» margarita and was served by a very rude server. I speak Spanish as obviously a second language(I’m white) and was brushed off. My food was cold although I was told it was a hot plate. The food was under par and I am sadly disappointed by the $ 20+ I spent for one. We will not come back here. This place has gone downhill from where it used to be.

To me and my large party of foodies, this place was a tad gross, mostly the sticky tables. On our visit, the service was horrible. Place was pretty dead and we stood in the front, waiting to get seated for 10 minutes. Finally the bus girl sat us. Once sat, it took another 15 minutes to get a server over. My buddy’s and I had Chicken Enchiladas in Mole sauce and overall the taste was pretty poor. Sauce sucked and their tortillas were hard. Fact of the matter is we all thought simultaneously that the our plates tasted just like a Hungry Man frozen dinner, plain, tough and way off.

Decent food. Service was quick and friendly. Salsa was fair. All I had was a taco salad and it was okay. Clean.

Mazatlan Mexican Restaurant has for years been an icon in the Cedar Mill area. This little spot on the corner of Murray and Cornell Roads has been popular with local workers for its quick and inexpensive lunches. Families have enjoyed Mazatlan for its large proportions and inexpensive meals. Due to a strip mall remodel and the moving of Walgreens Mazatlan Mexican Restaurant has a new home. The restaurant itself has moved on down the strip mall. It was change for the better. The old Mazatlan was looking a little old and worn. The new location has a cleaner and more modern look to it. The interior sports the same gaudy decorations but in general Mazatlan is now a more comfortable restaurant. Mazatlan is one of those Mexican restaurants where you become the staff’s «amigo» or «amiga.» However, there’s certainly nothing wrong with that. The service at Mazatlan is friendly, quick, and efficient. There is no beer on tap at Mazatlan Mexican Restaurant. All beer is by the bottle. The menu is humongous and reminiscent of so many chain Mexican restaurants: items like tostadas, enchiladas, burritos, an almost endless list of combinations, house specials, «Mexican Favorites,» seafood, and a few American dishes for the unadventurous. The prices are very fair at Mazatlan Mexican Restaurant and the proportions are quite generous. Many of the large combinations go for around $ 10. The combinations include rice and beans. On our visit we sampled the enchilada, taco, bean tostada, and chili relleno combination. Our food was incredibly bland and tasteless. However, my amigo the server came to our rescue! This nice man brought us a bottle of Cholula Hot Sauce and a bottle of Tapatio Hot Sauce. Could have got up and kissed him! We doused our whole plate in hot sauce and what a difference that made! If it hadn’t been for the sauces I doubt if I could have got my dinner down. However, I shouldn’t have to drink a whole bottle of Cholula Hot Sauce to enjoy my meal! Mazatlan Mexican Restaurant is still a great place to hang out in the Cedar Mill area. However, I have one message for the kitchen: for goodness sakes season your food!

Outstanding. Right before I arrived, I got the notification that I was accepted into the Elite ’12 club. Naturally, I was excited on behalf of the restaurant that an elite reviewer was on the way(I assume all Elite’ers are tracked by all restaurants so they can roll out the red carpet when necessary). I was not disappointed. The guy at the front let me sit ANYWHERE I wanted, I got free chips and salsa like they grow on trees, and all the water I could drink! Boom! Seriously though, I was very pleased to discover that you get two types of salsa with the pre-meal chips — mild and spicy… and the spicy actually has some bite to it! It’s not overwhelmingly hot, but I’m so jaded by businesses saying something is «hot» or «spicy» only to find it’s no more spicy than Taco Bell’s «Fire» sauce. Ugh. I love fajitas and usually order them anywhere I go where I haven’t tried them yet. Maybe I just can’t get enough of the exciting sizzle sound made by the food as it comes to the table while still cooking in the patented Pan Hotter Than The Surface of the Sun so we Put a Little Wooden Thing Under it but the Handle Will Still Destroy You. Regardless, the fajitas here are WONDERFUL. I got the combo of meats(steak+chicken)…they were cooked perfectly in a truly delightful sauce, the onions/peppers/mushrooms were JUST right, the beans were steaming hot and covered in melted cheese, and there was ample sour cream. After making it through all 4 tortillas, I realized that almost all the ingredients were gone. I didn’t run out of anything too early, I didn’t have a heap of anything left over. It was kind of like all of a sudden discovering a 4th spacial dimension… it blew my mind. And to top it off, I had the happy hour cuervo gold margarita with my meal. It was a pretty damn good margarita! Mixed well, not watered down at all. I was actually able to taste the tequila. I will absolutely return, probably very soon.

Tonight we went to this Mazatlan because our car was out of gas. Let me explain, there is no gas station in Bethany. None. We would have gone to Allan’s if there had been one close and then popped in there for dinner, but no, we went to Chevron on Cornell first and we were like, sheesh, this Mazatlan is closer than the other and we’re hungry. They’re all the same, right? Chips, salsa, iced tea. Fine. Pitcher of water on the table, good. Princess notes the other Mazatlan has warm free bean dip. Not this one. Server? Grumpy and tired. We felt a little sorry for him. He tried to be friendly to my daughter, and she was feeling shy and cranky about the bean dip, so she wasn’t having any of his friendly. After that he stopped trying. Can’t really blame him. Food? meh. Husband and brother in law’s plates looked identical but were two different dishes… strange but true. One a burrito, one an enchilada. huh? Princess’ cheese quesadilla was super duper hot. Steaming! For a kid! and she wondered where her beans and rice were. They don’t come with kid’s cheese quesadilla here. They do at the other Mazatlan we frequent. So per usual, she ate mine. This saved us the two dollars they would have charged to bring it to her. I ate pork carnitas which came strangely with a salsa verde on top. To be fair, it did mention it on the menu, which I didn’t read closely enough. The flour tortillas were warm but not special, too thick. The carnitas were not what I expected. More like pot roast. Tender, but not crispygreasysaltycarnitasgoodness.(See Ochoa’s review for details) .The had a limp little pile of lettuce and salsa with some guacamole next to it. I expended most of my weight watchers points on chips and salsa, sipped iced tea, and wished hubby would watch the gas gauge a little more closely. We could have been at Allan’s, or Amelia’s, or the OTHER Mazatlan…
