Last time I was in there was a dog sitting at the bar. On its own stool. I don’t have a problem with dogs, but everyone knows you can’t have a dog in a food service establishment. And no, this was not a service animal. No vest. Typical food. Kids corn dog was the highlight.

Service is generally poor, food is mediocre and over priced, and charge for any little extra. Too bad not more cool places in that Tigard downtown area, this place would be done quickly. Believe me, they think they are doing you a favor by letting you be there! A couple good beers though.

Food is ok. The server was nice. But it was like eating and drinking whilst in the middle of a daycare center. I walked into kids playing the wii and around the corner is a GATED area filled with toys –_____– what in the hell. Only been here once and that was enough.

Food: 3 stars Service: 3 stars(a little slow) Food was mediocre. Nothing special. I ordered the coconut shrimp which was slightly over cooked but the mango salsa was good. Ordered a draft beer, nitro, which was pretty good at 10.1% alc. Also had a taste of the seafood chowder which was ok.

My husband and I have tried this place twice. Food is WAY overpriced. They charge around $ 11 – 14 for a burger with chips. If you want fries or a salad instead of chips it’s $ 2. If you want to add an extra something on your burger it’s $ 1 – 2 per item. This average burger has now become a $ 16 mistake. Also, don’t ask for extra sauce or dressing because they charge $.25 for it. Quit nickel and diming your customers. They will quit coming. Bob Farrell who successfully ran Portland restaurants for many years gave a speech about good customer service called«Give them the pickle». Look it up, management. It’s worth a listen.

Absolutely amazing breakfast! I had crepes and my fiancé had an omelet. Definitely my new favorite breakfast place, who would have thought a pub could be this good!

This is a tough one to review. ATMOSPHERE It’s a large facility and has a nice outdoor patio with plenty of picnic tables and colorful umbrellas. Dog friendly and family/kid friendly, too. Kiddy section for wii, games and the like. BEERS Brews are very good to great, who doesn’t love a local brewpub??? Yes, their beers are made on site. I love that the brewer changes the brews on a regular basis, while still offering some old standards. It keeps all things beer sampling interesting. FOOD Chow is ok to good. Happy Hour food is pretty standard, a bit heavy(Mac/cheese, fried items), but solid for the coinage. Burgers are overpriced, but decent. $ 15 for their big burger, no fries is a bit steep for a brew pub, IMO. Breakfast is pretty standard, some items better than others. $ 2mimosas during weekend brunch with purchase can’t be beat. It’s swill bubbly, but the orange juice helps mask the cheap champs. Can’t complain for $ 2. SERVICE. This is their #1 issue. Reading all the reviews of people constantly complaining; unfortunately, I understand why. We, ourselves have walked out after 15−20mins without being waited on a couple times over the years. Other times it has been good, attentive and friendly. The last time, it was the latter: great service, we didn’t want for anything and staff was pleasant. I want to believe the owners have read the issues and are making a change. Here’s to fingers crossed on that note.

We were heading down town to try one of the pottland brew houses and decided to avoid traffic and parking and find something local. Found Max’s on another review site. Not sure what was going on with some of the reviewers here but I am glad I ignored them. REMEMBERPEOPLEITS A PUB!!! Took my daughter and husband visiting from Pennsylvania he had the Mac cheese bacon stated it was excellent. She had club sandwich which was HUGE with hand cut potato chips I had philly cheese steak with basket fries, sandwich was a west coast Philly which means it was a steak sandwich with a white cheese(?) pepper and onions and just doesn’t drip down your face like a Genos or Pats Philly it was a very good meal and very filling reasonably priced. We also ordered a side of Cajun tots which were great. The BEER! We ordered a flight(10 samples) of all the house brews on UNTAPPDGRADED them all 3 or above on a scale of 1 – 5 The place is a comfortable PUB and family friendly in a quiet part of town off the busy highway!

To quote a few other Unilocalers, the place is just ok and pretty poorly ran. While my family and I do appreciate that there is a an area for kids and toys, the service is almost always lacking and there is a lot of turnover. We live close, so it is a convenient location and we could bike or take a fairly long walk there. So the convenience is great, and the outside sitting area is nice. Food almost always takes 40 minutes or longer(for simple orders), and since there is a lot of turnover, the servers are almost always confused, or just don’t understand good service, or the menu. For example, we just had brunch there and went because of the kids pancakes, 2 dollars for«ALLYOUCANEAT» Saturdays and Sundays 9am-2pm. We were charged for two sets of pancakes($ 4), which is not what ALLYOUCANEAT means. When we informed the waitress, she insisted that you still have to pay for another set of pancakes. That just sounds dumb, or the menu needs to be changed! Not a huge deal to pay $ 2 extra dollars, but not when you go expecting something different and it is advertised that way. Every other time being there, something like this happens. The food is ok, some items better than others. The omelets this morning were quite tasteful. Overall the food is nothing to get super excited about, just a reason to not have to cook and clean up at home. I guess we keep going back because it’s casual for out toddler, and close in proximity. This place has a decent location, and could be something great. However, in the 7 plus years being in the area, it just isn’t, and doesn’t seem to be getting better.

This was the worst breakfast I’ve ever been served at a restaurant. I would even gladly take public school cafeteria food over the eggs Benedict they served. My daughter ordered the all-you-can-eat dollar pancakes(which is the only kids option on the menu) and was given 4, thin measly, pancakes and then the server disappeared. If they are going to put that little effort into serving breakfast then they should probably just stick with pub food and beer.

Max’s has a giant sign advertising their weekend breakfast out on the curb. I noticed it when I was driving by the other day. I like breakfast. I looked on Unilocal and saw mixed reviews. But there’s a big patio in front. Patio good. So on a sunny weekend morning I dragged a friend there around 9am to check it out. Outdoor picnic table seating. Umbrellas. One server for the whole outside(maybe inside too, not sure). About 8 out of maybe 15 were full. There’s a help yourself water station with paper cups. Our server was nice. Efficient. Refilled coffee and brought us stuff like jam when asked. Checked on us. I think our food did sit a while before we got it. My breakfast companion’s strawberry crepes had deflated and wet whipped cream. My omelet was on the cool side. Prices are average I think. Our shared side of bacon was $ 3.95 for 4 pieces which seems about in the ballpark of what other places charge. Our breakfasts, bacon, and two adequate but not awesome coffees were $ 27. This was a just ok experience. The crepes and omelet were not amazingly delicious. They were ok. They didn’t quite match their descriptions and there was a piece of ham on my veggie omelet plate. That’s ok with me since I eat ham sometimes but if I was a vegetarian I would not feel confident that my omelet was meat free. It also made me wish I’d ordered a Denver instead :/The toast was sourdough and I had ordered whole wheat, the hash browns werent crispy, and we had to dab the oil slick off the bacon. Not big things. But… just ok. I did really enjoy the patio. I just might order a tad differently next time. And I think a mimosa would help.

This place is pretty poorly ran. Food was ok. Waitress spilled on my friends shorts. Didn’t even get a free drink. The pants are now ruined. They also charged him 25 cents for the ranch for tots. This place is not a place you need to go to more than once. Swamp factor: 3⁄10 — Fair

Came in on Sunday for brunch. I should have read the reviews because they were very accurate. Food was good, service was very very poor. Too bad because I came in the evening and sat at the bar and loved it… We were told to get our own waters from the«water station» and that they would bring new cups soon which took over 10 mins. Meanwhile we watched other guests outside get waters from the other server. I was served the wrong food and had to walk back to the kitchen to get the right order. Had to find a different server to get coffee refills Service needs to improve and this would be a great place to go!

Not a bad spot. I wish Tigard had more places like this. It gets an A+ for places to bring kids. They have areas where kids can play or play video games etc. If you don’t like kiddos then maybe avoid this spot. Apparently from what I have heard, ownership has changed and things are a lot better than they used to be. I would go back and try more of their food options. The prices and drink options are good too.

Got a $ 2.50 quarter-pound hamburger. Added cheese, bacon & a side of tots with ranch for $ 3.75 more. Pretty decent burger & crispy delicious tots. Service was attentive & good. Not a bad place to grab a cheap lunch.

As most beer lovers are, my husband, is particular about his beer. It has to have that balance of strong hop taste and other good flavors. .and myself, if all the hoppy tones give me a funny face then… no thanks. Any new pub, brewery, my husband samples three to four before he decides. This time my husband had a winner the first time. Beer is personal taste, as is wine, so my review on beer would not be far from my point of view, but my husband will give 4 stars for the beer. Lets me review the atmosphere and food. I met my Husband at Max’s around 1:30 on a beautiful day and we sat outside. It is a nice area and pretty quite since old town does not have too much traffic and everyone has to drive slow. We were greeted and told we could sit anywhere. We sat for a moment till another server noticed us. She greeted us and literally ran to get us some menus. There must of been a server change. The young man with the beard and curly hair ended up as our server. He was very knowledgeable about the beers and for me suggested a refreshing cocktail for a hot day. I thought it was a little weak. … not. Half way through the drink it hit me. Later our server brought my husband a sample of one of the home brewed 10% beers. My husband liked it, but stuck to the ‘I still have to drive home beer’ I order the quesadilla appetizer which was nothing to write home about. Is was ok. No thrills. My husband order the chicken club. Another ok dish. The chicken was very very thin. The Cajun Tots were the best part. We usually compare Calamari at restaurants and bars but they did not offer it. Our other comparing item is Mac n Cheese. At most restaurants this dish comes to you all creamy but within minute the pasta absorbs all the cream and cheese and you need a knife to cut it. Max’s did not do this and still was creamy enough the next day where I did not have to add milk… but it did need help with flavor. Good thing for the bacon. There was quite a bit of it. I give 5 stars for customer service but the food needs to catch up. We will probably be back. This has potential for 5 stars all around. Then it could be Tigard’s gem for beer, atmosphere, customer service, and food.

This was our first visit, I was a little concerned they were a bit overpriced for the quality like Old Market Pub. I took a glance online and saw the prices were extremely reasonable so we took a chance. First, I didn’t find them to be overpriced for the quality. The beer was above average, the food tastes fresh and was actually pretty good so no complaints there. The service was pretty good. The thing that bothered me was the huge difference in price from the website to the actual prices! Obviously the in person menu matched the prices on the receipt… Just a bit of sticker shock

My mom and I have been here several times. It’s newly remodeled and looks beautiful! They have a play area for children, including a Wii. On certain nights they have trivia night. Try the Mac n’ cheese, it’s amazing!

I would love to support my local brewery, but just can’t seem to muster sufficient love(or like, for that matter) for the beers brewed here. It’s not hard to describe Max’s — maybe cross a small, lackluster brewery with a bar on the edge of «dive» status, and you pretty much have it nailed. It’s large enough, close enough to 99, has the hardware and seating to spare(even outside), but it almost feels like it’s stuck in first gear, and just idling down the road. Sure there’s little parking, and a prevalence of smokers out back. But how about throwing down a growler special on a new brew? How about starting fresh with a brettanomyces beer? Build a saison or an out of this world DIPA! Dabble in a Belgian quad! Change up the food menu, and find a new source for your servables. Breath a little life into the business you run, and the customers will run to YOU! Give it a shot. You have all the pieces, now find someone to build your puzzle and make your business thrive. Change things around! Shake things up a bit! Otherwise, you may not have a chance.

Seems to be declining. Each experience with food seems to get a little worse. My last visit I ordered the coconut shrimp tacos. The shrimps were way overcooked. Instead of light brown they were dark brown, almost black. If it weren’t for that, they could’ve been real tasty. Everything that we ordered that was fried seemed overcooked. The server said it was because they only had one cook and he was busy. Sorry. Not a good excuse. Either the processes in the kitchen aren’t efficient or management needs to add staff. The beer has been really good ever visit and the play area is an absolute gift from the gods. You can sit and actually talk while the little ones play. There are other brew pubs with good beer and good food. Fanno Creak Brew Pub could be one them.
