It’s OK, the beef wasn’t actual teriyaki beef it was the Korean bulgogi, the teriyaki sauce smelled like vinger\alcohol, the chicken katsu was alright nothing amazing though the katsu sauce was tastey, the gyoza was decent but again nothing above average. The teriyaki chicken was pretty good minus the vinegery boozey smelling teriyaki sauce. Portions werent crazy which is nice, pricing was normal. No free hot tea and the tea they had was Herbal tea, not traditional green or oolong tea. If your hungry its food lol

Get the spicy yakisoba and ask them to make it actually spicy and you won’t be disappointed! decent size plate for less than $ 9!

I read about this on Unilocal and decided to try it since I am here in Portland on vacation. The place is just basic — a few tables and chairs and the ordering counter. The employee behind the counter was on his phone a little too much but he did have a big smile for me as I walked up to the counter. But the spicy chicken was delicious. It was hot and flavorful and there was more than enough. I would definitely come here again.

A few things you should know before coming here: * The parking lot is tiny. Two restaurants and another business share the lot and there’s maybe 8 – 10 parking spots. * There is very minimal seating inside and no bathroom. * It gets VERY busy and very crowded at lunch time(at least Mon –Fri. not sure about weekends). This is a great place if you’re getting food to-go or not in a hurry and/or don’t mind parking a couple blocks away and walking(street parking is pay $ metered). The service is fast and friendly. The food is above average for a teriyaki/bento place. My favorite here is Gyoza and the Chicken Yakisoba. I like that it’s low sodium compared to most places. The Yakisoba is kind of plain, but I actually like that, because I can add my own sauce. The Yakisoba noodles are perfectly cooked, not overcooked or mushy, same with the broccoli it was a little soft but still firm, not too crispy and not soggy or mushy. My co-workers love this place too.

Great food! Very affordable, nice place to eat if that’s what you want. I decided to carry mine out instead. Clean place, friendly staff, easy to find and parking as well. I highly recommend it.

FIRSTOFF, LETMEJUSTSAYTHATTHEFOODISGREAT!!! BUT the service on the other hand wasn’t what I expected since I had read all the other reviews prior to going to this place. The Asian lady with the really short bob had some sort of slight attitude when I was ordering and stuff. Then I noticed that all these men had started to arrive & she was super nice to them so I was kinda confused, anyways I ignored it I had bought a small drink and I ended going back for a bit more iced tea twice when my cup was at halfway point & she kept staring at me until the second time she pointed out that they charge refills when I clearly couldn’t see the sign and she was rude about it she said«that was twice» so I got my card & told her here charge me the dollar and she said it’s ok just so you know next time. I couldn’t believe she would react that way over 1 $, I guess the struggle is real. Whatever Id come here again but I’ll definitely be taking my own bottled water & or other drink so I won’t run into this issue. I didn’t mind paying the dollar just the fact that she was rude to me but said nothing to a guy who got a refill same time I did.

My food was prepared quickly, and I got a plate of teriyaki chicken(white meat too), brown rice and vegetables, for only $ 6.75. The environment isn’t very cute here, but for lunch, it does the job!

Came in out of the cold. It’s warm in here and the staff are great. I asked what to order and she suggested the spicy noodle soup. What a deal! It’s delicious and plentiful. Noodles are cooked just right and there’s veggies soup as well. I’ll be back to try the teriyaki.

Will never go back!!! Have been going once a week for years w/my family, my husband longer, but the new owner is extremely rude and I will not waste another dollar on horrible customer service! The chicken is full of fat also!

I ended up here by accident. I was waiting for Taste of Bangkok to open when I noticed that someone was inside Mashita Teriyaki cleaning. Interested in what they had to offer, I asked to see a menu. It was 10:30am and they were not open until 11:00am. Hannah, was amazing. She told me that if I wanted to order that she would ask the cook if he would open early. After reading the other reviews I knew that I should definitely try something with the teriyaki sauce. I’m glad I did. I ordered the lunch special which was a Chicken Teriyaki Bowl with 3 Gyoza and a 16oz drink for $ 6.25. I also ordered a side of kimchee. The chicken was perfectly cooked(with a little crisp, just how I like it). The sauce was delightful, not too thick or too sweet. I was also glad that they had the option to get brown rice for 50cents more. I was glad that they had kimchee too. Although everything was good my favorite thing about the meal was the Gyoza! I’m rarely a fan of potstickers, but these were the best I’ve EVER had. I visit Portland pretty often for work and I will definitely visit this place often. Hannah and the staff were great!

I liked the teriyaki sauce and the chicken. I would totally come here again, and next time I might try the gyoza or spring rolls.

Legit chicken teriyaki. I have a pretty specific and frequent craving for this dish and they sufficiently satisfied it, and affordably, too! Service was prompt and sweet. Will come here again: D

New ownership or management now. Prices are slightly higher and no punch cards but it looks like they are stepping up the look of the place and making it a nicer environment. I think the quality of the food is the same as before.

New owners. Higher prices. Even lesser quality as well as quantity… short trip to the Nicolai location is more worth it.

Not sure why I’m giving Mashita 3 stars. Probably cause the food is super cheap(5 bucks for teriyaki chicken and rice), it’s the closest place to the rose garden, and I was really hungry and it was raining. Found this place on Unilocal, saw other people walking in, so I trusted it. I left satisfied.

This place got a lot of great reviews so I went to give it a shot. Let me first ask, what are you people smoking? I ordered the chicken katsu from the very bored and stoic gentleman at the counter. Food took a pretty good while to come out considering there was only one other person in the joint. My lunch finally arrives and the chicken is destroyed. Bone dry and overcooked. The breading was burnt and didn’t adhere to meat. The veggies were limp and tasted metallic. I had exactly one bite of that chicken and I was done. It tasted awful. I didn’t have the energy to return it and ask for something different. I figured the best way to send the message was to just leave the barely touched plate of food on the table and walk out. Maybe these guys were having a bad day or something. Or maybe nobody orders the Katsu. In any case, I’ll stick to the consistently great teriyaki at Du’s Grill.

Walked to Mashita from our mortgage closing. Not that easy to find, since it’s a small place and it’s in between Wiedler and Broadway on 6th. Some quick review points: Highs: Reasonably priced; quick service, off street parking; large portions; good specials pricing(which I didn’t see until after I ordered) Lows: Signage is a little disorganized; Service was fine, but distant(seemingly different than every other review); food was meh with overcooked noodles and dry, bland chicken in the Yakisoba; décor makes no sense(the chicken theme made me think it used to be a chicken and dumpling place). Overall, you get what you pay for. Don’t expect too much and you’ll be pleased.

Best lunch hour deal I can think of. This place rocks! Total hole in the wall next to Radio shack in NE, right off of Broadway/Weidler. The owners are extremely nice and get to know you the more you come in. We usually go for the lunch special, which is $ 5.25 and you get a plate of rice, salad and teriyaki chicken along with pot stickers(or whatever side they have that day). This is a rather large plate — many times I cant finish it and when I do, you can imagine what happens that afternoon at work, or what doesnt happen! haha! Either way, this place exception food. The dining area isn’t the greatest, but the food definitely makes up for that. Its always, I mean always, packed here around lunch hour, but they get your order out pretty fast. Its definitely a diamond in the rough and compared to the other places nearby to eat, i always choose this over the fast food chains across the street and nearby.

I love this place! Very friendly service and quick on your orders. The couple that runs this establishment are very rapport based and once you’ve come in once they don’t ever forget you every single time you come in. The food here for the pricepoint goes along really well. My favorite is their spicy pork. I would definitely recommend this place if you’re in the neighborhood and need a cheap and fast lunch. A definite 4 stars for the customer service and food! Happy Eating Everyone!

I’m giving this place a 5⁄5 because not only is the owner SUPER nice, funny, and hospitable, the food is great. However, I’m rating the food from a non-meat option because I’m on lent, so I couldn’t have meat or rice. My friends who had the chicken teriyaki and spicy chicken said the food was GREAT though, and they said it was really good. All of it. And I think it has good portions too. I ordered the tofu teriyaki with no rice. It was delicious. The tofu was a little fried, just the way I like it. and the veggies were perfectly stir fried. Crunchy and soft. Really really good teriyaki sauce too. I also ordered 2 sides of kimchee… umm, that was the BEST kimchi i’ve had in a looooong time, other than homemade. I loved it. Upon leaving, I said thanks to the owner in Korean and he gave me a hug. He definitely made my day!!! PS. Prices are pretty cheap too. I think deals for sure!
