Marjie Van Der Laan – Oregon & Washington Real Estate

I like Marjie. She seems like a nice person, however, after she showed me a house that she was representing as the seller’s agent, I thought it would be a conflict of interest for her to represent the seller and me the buyer. She insisted that her husband, who is also a real estate agent could represent me, and insisted there would be no conflict.
This was my mistake.
I made an offer on this house at asking price, it was accepted. Then the inspection turned up over $ 20,000 worth of repairs. I simply asked for the repairs to be done.
The counter came back telling me the house was really worth more money, so take it or leave it. My new buyer’s agent, her husband, agreed and said If I didn’t buy it, someone else will for more money.
This felt like a classic bait-​and-​switch maneuver orchestrated by Marjie. We had already agreed on the price of the home, all I was asking for were the needed repairs. I I was really disappointed in the way Marjie handled this. So, I backed out of the deal, and couldn’t buy this house. I would not recommend her to anyone who is selling or buying real estate.
