Mandala Yoga

Kundalini yoga has been a game changer for me. This is the studio that introduced me to it. I’ve experimented with various types of meditation and yoga on and off over the years– Restorative, Acro, Iyengar, Power, Bikram, Gentle, Vinyasa, etc, etc.
My mind is rarely ever quiet. There’s a slew of thoughts bouncing around in my head constantly. I really enjoy and benefit from meditation, but Kundalini takes me a lot further. I can’t explain Kundalini well and I am quite new to it– but it combines movement, chanting, singing, repetitive movement. It’s a very spiritual experience that attempts to bring awareness to your body while targeting your nervous system as well. It’s a very personal experience– YMMV, as they say.
It takes me to a level that I didn’t know I could reach– that I’ve never been to with any other type of yoga or meditation. It helps me deal with stress and anxiety. More importantly, I really believe it has also helped me with a lot of things that I haven’t been dealing with. Things I’ve run away from and have pushed into my subconscious. I’m a «heads in the clouds» type of person, it’s easy for me to feel detached from reality or my body. Kundalini really helps to ground me. It’s a very raw, visceral experience.
If you’re curious about Kundalini– TRY IT. Come with an open mind and no expectations.
Mandala is one of only a few studios that teach Kundalini in Portland. There’s a nice community of people here. They have special events here– try going to a Gong Meditation or Kirtan. They’re really amazing experiences.
I’ve taken classes with most the instructors here and have found that they’re all very different so I would encourage you to try different ones. They all have different things to offer.

I discovered Mandala Yoga about a year ago and loved it immediately. The studio has wonderful, calming energy and the instructors are great. I especially love therapeutic yoga with Michelle, but all the classes I’ve attended have been excellent. They have a wide range of classes for all levels and lots of nice touches like the free tea. I’ve tried a few other studios in Portland but this one is my absolute favorite.
In addition to traditional classes, Mandala has amazing concerts and events, including a monthly healing gong meditation that is out of this world. Their class schedule is online and it is easy to book online or in person.

This studio is the the yoga version of «Miyagi Know Karate Dojo». Please pardon my dated movie reference but it is to make the point, that mandala is special, no frills just real yoga. I find the heart of yoga is rarely experienced in the modern day yoga studio and for that reason hold places mandala in high regard. Owe yah and kundalini is awesome!

Mandala is wonderful, bright and beautiful yoga studio. What drew me to Mandala was their offering of Kundalini Yoga. I have been very impressed by teachers Vani and Signa. They are both wonderful teachers. Mandala also offers many kundalini workshops that have been challenging and inspiring. I highly recommend Mandala!

I’ve been taking yoga classes at Mandala Yoga for about a year, it’s the second studio I’ve tried in Portland, and I love it. The couple who run it are lovely, friendly people, and they make everyone welcome. Every instructor I’ve encountered there has made me feel comfortable and like I can challenge myself without judgment. The best thing about Mandala is that there are a variety of types of yoga being taught at different schedules, which is great for someone like me who’s only tried yoga a couple times before and wanted to try out different styles. They encourage new yogis by including all the equipment they’ll need like mats, blankets, bolsters, belts, etc. This is a down to earth place for all levels of yogi.

Mandala Yoga studio is such a beautiful, warm place. The teachers are amazing. There are many events and classes to choose from. It really is a gift. Even the tree lined drive there is so pleasant. There’s a cool café next door and Mt. Tabor is right there for a nice walk after a blissful class. I can’t say enough about this place, music, golden yellow hues, friendly people… mmmm so nice…

I loved everything about this place.
I’m a visitor, and they had mats and everything you need. All you have to do is show up.
Real instruments and a gong instead of a recording for the music.
Signa was very welcoming. I did the kundalini class. She isn’t pushy or egotistical like some yoga instructors I have encountered, and is really in to making your experience good for yourself (as yoga should be. It is a practice.) she even brought us tissues when we were doing heavy breathing !!!
Thoroughly enjoyed it. I will be back next time I visit.

I’ve been doing yoga (hatha, vinyasa, iyengar) for 15 years and now I’m 26 weeks along the way. So I’ve switched to prenatal yoga and have been trying so many classes in Portland over the past 5 months. It was not until yesterday that I started going to Vani’s class at Mandala Yoga. I have to say it’s one of the best! Not only that she is a very kind and compassionate instructor, but she’s also doula, a mother and a grandmother too! So she knows exactly what we pregnant women are looking for in our practice. Before, I thought prenatal yoga is all about hip opening and exercising particular muscles to prepare us for childbirth, but Vani enlightened me as to what it can do for us spiritually (while those hip opening poses are not forgotten). There are some Mantras; Sa-​Ta-​Na-​Ma, which is related to the cycle of life and birth, to practice. Even though the studio is a little far out in Mt. Tabor area, but the drive is pleasant and totally worth it. I love the space, it’s very spacious and well-​equipped. Thanks Signa for creating such a wonderful place!

Awesome studio. I have been to classes with about 5 different instructors there, across many styles, and they have all been great. This is an exceptionally well curated, yet eclectic studio for beginners to quite season practitioners. All ages, shapes, sizes and abilities seem welcome and gracefully accommodated.

This yoga studio is such an amazing gift! I was so thrilled with how the owner Signa brings down the full yoga experience, I bought a membership after attending various classes for a couple months. Serious yogis will really appreciate the pranayama and kundalini yoga offerings and revel as I do in the sound healing aspects of bells and gongs and sitar in addition to the harmonium. The lovely studio has a treetop view of Mt. Tabor and the café next door is there to shore you up after a great class.
