Maid Apparent

WARNING! BEWARE! Very, very important. Please read this review all the way through to avoid a serious and extremely expensive nightmare with this shady company!
On the evening of June 13^th, Dawn, who works as a maid for Maid Apparent, as well as an unnamed male who accompanied her, began a post-​construction «move in cleaning» in my home. Supposedly they were there cleaning until past 1am on June 14^th. Dawn was aware that I was not coming home that night.
In the morning, I arrived at my new home to discover that my home was burglarized. When I called Dawn, her reaction was, «Oh no. Well, how was the cleaning?» !!!
The burglars stole everything new I had just purchased for my home, much of which were still in their original boxes. There was other damage to my home from the burglary as well, costing me thousands upon thousands of dollars,
The house was NOT CLEANED AT ALL in the 8 HOURS they claimed they were working. The forensics expert sent to gather evidence proved that layers upon layers of old dust was still covering my home. He was the one who helped take photos for the investigation. The police have evidence to believe that the cleaners were involved, and the investigation is current. I was given permission to post this to warn others.
I spoke with Rylan, who agreed with me that something wasn’t right, and when I told him that all I wanted out of him was for him to cooperate with the police and help them in any way he could, he initially agreed and said he’d do what he could to help.
AND THEN, all of a sudden, he seemed to make the decision to not only stop communicating with me, but has been refusing to take calls or give any information about Dawn to the detective investigating the case. THIS COMPANY WILL NOT ASSIST THE POLICE IF THEIR MAIDS ARE UNDER INVESTIGATION FOR BURGLARY.
If you are reading this, Rylan… I will edit this down if you begin cooperating with the police. I’m sure all of your customers would agree that choosing not to is an awful move.

Oh, and obviously I would recommend finding a new maid service if you’re a current customer, and avoiding them like puke on the subway if you’re lucky enough to still be on your search.

I hope my review helps cancel out the couple bad reviews that I was sorry to see. Maid apparent is a local business with hard working employees. We have used them multiple times and they have always been on time, efficient and extremely thorough. The online booking is incredibly convenient. The team that comes is trust worthy and do a great job. We will continue to use them. The cleaner that comes to our house (because we have specifically asked for him again and again) does in fact speak English and Spanish… has never «barged in», but is just extremely no nonsense and doesn’t want to waste our time or his own by standing around being mamby pamby. Apparently that is what some of the reviewers here would prefer… Maybe their racism is getting in the way?

They did a great job at a reasonable price.

Because of the positive reviews I called Monday, first thing. I spoke with Eric and was told the only time open that day was at 5:30pm. I told him that should work but I needed to confirm with my tenants. I called my tenant, gave him Eric’s contact information and learned the spot wasn’t held. I called back and spoke with a woman who was charging me cleaning cupboards and a refrigerator were an extra cost. I said the website showed it was included in the move-​in/​move-​out service. She tried to look it up on their website and had no success so I said I would call back. I called back and spoke with a Jami and set an appointment for Tuesday at 1:30. I gave them my credit card information and let my tenant know when they would be there and that the service was pre-​paid.
No one showed up. They said they needed to reschedule for Wednesday at 1:30. I reluctantly agreed. I also left a message to have the owner call me, but I got not call. Again, no one showed up. I spoke with Eric again and he said he would look into it. He also said he didn’t hold the Monday time period because I didn’t give him a credit card. I told him he never asked for one. He apologized for not telling me.
I called again and left a message for the owner, Rylan. He did call back and apologized he said he would have a different crew come on Thursday because the crew that was scheduled hasn’t been reliable. (Then why are they working there?) He said he would not charge for the service. I told him I would have to check with my tenant, but if they feel like me, they will have no confidence that anyone will show up.
Of course, my tenant declined the offer.

We are new home-​owners and recently put in hard wood floor. The home was empty, but quite dirty. Therefore, we were looking for a cleaning company to do a move-​in cleaning but with very short notice. Most other companies I called quoted me from $ 400-​$ 500 and were booked weeks out. Maid apparent was accommodating and booked us an appointment the same week. I also couldn’t believe their pricing! $ 219 for a move in clean. They had to push my appointment back a half hour last minute and they arrived a little late. However, they did call to notify me they were stuck in terrible 205 traffic. I didn’t mind, it happens to all of us. They quoted us about 4 hours and it took them just under that. The place looked amazing! Everything shined. We can’t wait to move it. Thank you Maid Apparent for taking a huge stress of our shoulders.

House cleaning is a splurge for me, so I always try to find the best deal. I’ve used several other Craigslist services trying to save money, but this flat fee was really a bargain without the hassle, uncertainty, and risk. Fiorella and her dad, the team that cleaned my very hairy house (two golden retrievers), were right on time, professional, detailed, and friendly. No slackers, they really got down to business. Scheduling was super easy online, with email and text reminders. Will use again, hope I can have the same team!

The customer service is top notch here. They follow up appointments via email and phone, and you can call if there are concerns. It looks like they subcontract the cleaning, and so experiences might vary (I don’t hire cleaners very often, though I probably should). Segundo cleaned my apartment single-​handedly for move-​out. He was on time and his work was incredibly thorough and admirable.

We’ve been using Maid Apparent for a few weeks now. Love them!

There’s no exciting story to tell, they just plain did a bad job :(
The team spoke no English, so communicating about the bad job as it was in progress wasn’t an option :(They showed up, said «clean?» and basically just barged in.
Everything they picked up, they put back in the wrong place. The cleaning was both incomplete (missed SO many easy things, places and even entire rooms) and poorly done. It took them twice as long as services I’ve used in the past, and I spent over an hour cleaning *after* they left.
Super disappointed, since the initial customer service was really great (and I didn’t even mind them rescheduling last minute – twice!). Coupons are nice and all, but not worth it if the product is bad :(Will go back to the higher prices elsewhere – you get what you pay for, I suppose.

Excellent customer service is hard to come by in this day in age, but my faith in good old-​fashioned customer service was restored when I hired Maid Apparent to clean my house. I’ve heard more than enough horror stories about cleaning services so when my good friend recommended I go through a great «local» company I was skeptical to say the least. However, she couldn’t have been more «spot-​on.» The lovely ladies that came to clean my (disastrous) house were extremely polite and professional. I couldn’t believe how quickly they worked. I don’t think I’ve ever seen my house cleaner! So reasonably priced as well. Finally, a company that delivers on their promises!

I booked with Maid Apparent with little time to find cleaners. They were prompt, professional, and did a great job cleaning my apartment! Thanks for a great experience. I will be using Maid Apparent in the future.
