Great chicken and tri tip was a bit slow on the service side(lunch crush) the food made up for it

Just returned from my first visit and I was very impressed. I ordered chicken and rice. The chicken was falling off the bone tender, flavorful and moist. I will definitely add the restaurant to my lunch rotation.

This is my new favorite restaurant in the city. The flavors are insane. Everything is so fresh and vibrant and they have like 8 different habanero sauces to choose from which is my heaven. To top everything off the folks that work here are REALLYREALLYNICE.

I don’t understand how they do it, but they make the most delicious, moist, perfectly cooked chicken. Great job Love Belizean.

Great place to have a quick meal, ordered the double Belizean chicken and it was delicious. I will definitely stop by again and try another dish.

So addicting. Too bad I get off work 6pm almost every day… or else I’d eat this all the time.

This meal made me so happy. Really flavorful food, fresh arugula with lime, and a bunch of interesting sauces. I got recado beer braised pork and as soon as I finished it I wanted to eat it again. Life is good. I’m gonna go take a nap somewhere

They had good quality and service, so I’m giving it four stars. I wasn’t a fan of their food though and that’s personal preference so I can’t dock them for that. The beef was a little sweeter than I preferred and the rice had kidney beans in it. I can’t say whether it was authentic or not. I do love all their different sauces though!

Very much like the chicken I got in Belize City years ago. I’d order the 2-piece chicken, unless you are a fairly light eater. Prices are reasonable. And the offer a BAZILLION hot sauce options. They even gave me some of their spices when I mentioned I’d had a hard time finding Belizean spices outside of Belize.

Best chicken I have ever had in my life here. There sauces are amazing, their cooking is impecable and the only problem is that it is not closer to me. I would be hard pressed to find many restaurants this good let alone one this casual.

I’m kind of upset at the moment. This is my first trip to Portland, and I’ve been here for a week and a half; today being my last day. And I just had the best meal I’ve eaten this entire time. I can’t believe I didn’t find out about this place sooner. I just ordered what the latest reviewer recommended, who happens to be Belizean. The chicken and tri-tip combo was just so good. Just the right amount of heat and awesome seasoning; extremely tender. The rice and beans were just perfect; with the right texture that is typical of Central and South America. Being Hispanic myself, and never having eaten Belizean food before. I would venture to say that this is better than any Mexican«authentic» restaurant I have ever been to. And that’s saying a lot. There are a lot of good restaurants in this area, no doubt. But this place just hits the perfect spot for me. The food was nice and hot, and ready to devour. And I happened to arrive just in time too. They close at 4pm. Ugh! Still can’t believe I didn’t come here sooner. I’m definitely making this place my go-to eatery the next time I’m having to work in Portland. They’ll know me by name for sure. :-)

THISPLACEDOESNOTCLOSEAT4PM! Just wanted to put that out there because this place is so awesome that you shouldn’t be turned away by wrong Unilocal hours. Anywho, my boyfriend and I came here for the first time and had a fantastic time. The folks helping us out were super helpful and friendly, and downright chill. They made a suggestion — we ate the chicken thigh, double servings. The flavor of the chicken was on point and the meat fell right off the bone. I usually don’t like rice and peas but this was great!

Walking past Love Belizean on my first day in Portland, I had to do a double-take. I’m Belizean and had only found one other Belizean restaurant in the U.S.(the owner tells me they are one of only four) so I couldn’t believe that on my first day in my new city I would find authentic food from home. I don’t think that statement accurately conveys the ridiculous level of excitement I felt. The food is just *wipes a tear away* umm, give me a second. You must try the chicken and tri-tip combo if you want to take eating from a job to a career. The tri-tip flavor reminds me of the outdoor BBQ places that can be found along the highways back home. The chicken is the best I’ve ever had — even in Belize(excluding my grandma’s of course) — no, I’m not kidding. Moist, amazing flavor, and falls right off the bone. The pickled onions and peppers are a table staple in Belize so they are keeping it real or rather even realer. The only newcomer is the salad, which is a welcome and healthy addition to the plate — an excellent deal for the price. Now that I’ve eaten at Love Belizean I really hope they don’t decide to move or else I’ll have to follow and I’ve only just gotten settled. You seriously have to come visit. Oh, one last thing, the mural of the Mayan ruin is a nice touch. To the owners, who are absolutely wonderful: *whispers* I love you.

I used to walk past this food cart in favor of my favorite Thai cart, but now that they have an official restaurant I figured they must really mean business! Wow! Their chicken is superb. I got the chicken and tri tip combo… I have to come back here asap

My favorite food cart is now a brick and mortar oasis. It would have been a long cold Winter without it.

I’m so happy that these guys were able to trade in the old food cart for a proper brick and mortar restaurant! For now, the menu is largely unchanged from their days in the truck. Let me get you caught up if you’ve never been before… Prior to coming to Love Belizean, I didn’t know anything about Belizean cuisine. While it does feature some Central American staples like beans and rice, this is just«different Mexican food.» The signature item is a combo featuring amazing chicken(no knives necessary, this will pull right off the bone and melt in your mouth), rice and red beans, a simple fresh salad, and a complimentary selection of habañero sauce(I really like the one with grapefruit pulp). If you’re feeling a little more red meat, then the Red Pepper Tri Tips are awesome(still comes with rice, beans, salad, and sauce). Good vegetarian options exist as well, so don’t be scared away by all this amazing meat. If you want to sound like a regular, just ask for a «single» or «double»(indicating how many hunks of chicken you want). Prices have increased somewhat recently, so a single will now run you $ 8 while a double is $ 10(still great value for what you get). And don’t worry if you’re in a hurry… they process orders crazy fast. I’m really looking forward to seeing what they can do with this space. This is a restaurant to keep your eye on to say the least.
