I had been needing to get my front brakes fixed for awhile, I decided to go to Les Schwab because for 1.)they are local 2.)people refered them to me. I did have a choice because I lived not far from a jiffy lube, but I chose to go to Les Schwab. When I went, it was about an hour before they closed and I asked for them to just check my brakes and give me an estimate. I didn’t have to wait to long but when he came back, he informed me that I needed my front and back brakes done, which was an estimate of $ 600 plus and some change! Shockingly, I asked him, everything needed to be replaced including calipers and rotors? He did seem surprised that I knew what I was talking about. I am a independent woman, who was taught how to take care of cars. I know how to change my tires, check my tires tread, check my oil, change my oil and also could change my brake pads if need be. So, I was dumbfounded when he gave me that estimate! I already knew that my back brakes weren’t that bad but I knew my front needed work done. I found a local man who is a good friend of my co-​workers, who works on her car. He came to my work looked at my car and the estimate and said it was ridiculous that Les Schwab was trying to charge me that much! He did, just my front brakes because that’s all I needed and only charged me $ 150 w/​parts included! So, I have no clue why Les Schwab was trying to gouge me, maybe because I am a woman or a woman of color. I don’t know but don’t appreciate it and I will from now on take my business elsewhere!

They have always been very accommodating.

I wish I had read the reviews before going. I work in the service industry. No one at this location does. I love my local Les Schwab but this location treated me horribly. They are rude and it feels like you are bothering them. They barely get eye contact. They don’t say hello. They just talk to each other while a room of people wonder around and are ignored. They told me an hour, it took two. Not from being busy but because they forgot to tell me my car was ready! I finally had to tell them I could see my car with new tires and ask if I could have it. Do not go there! Go to the Sandy location. They are quick and friendly.
I am embarrassed for this company for this Powell location. I sat there staring at them and they didn’t remember me? They didn’t recall anyone. And the tone of voice I heard a man use while talking to an elderly women was an embarrassment to this company. They should be trained with how to deal with customers. I would have rather dealt with teenagers at their first job than the incompetence and arrogance I saw at this location.

Very impressed with the customer service. Been by twice and both times the staff was helpful and solved my issues quickly.

Lack of communication– charged me $ 14 to put air in my tires because I wanted to shop around for a day or two. Had they told me, I would have just bought the tires then.

In a hurry, came in and asked them how long it would take to repair my flat. They told me an hour, which is all the time I had.
I waited an hour, went back up and asked etc and they told me 30 minutes, 150% more time that anticipated.
I asked for my keys back and left. They need to work on how much time they tell people, or I wouldn’t have wasted my hour.

Dented my rim sliding on the ice from this week’s ice storm. Got in and out under and hour, and replacement was 75 bucks instead of 250 from a Goodyear. Would recommend.

Don’t go here. You’ll wait forever no matter how long they tell you the wait is. They failed to fix a flat the first time. When it went flat again that same day, they bared no responsibility for it and wanted to charge me extra just to fill it with air so I could drive it back to them. I thought I would get prompt help the second time, but instead got put in the back of the line again. I waited over an hour for my truck to get looked at, even though a long time passed with no cars in the garage, and all of the mechanics were horsing around and yelling and grabbing each other?! When a guy finally looked at my tire, he was barely paying attention to what he was doing. He DID find a giant, obvious gash in the side walk which was visible to my own eyes. Ridiculous they didn’t catch it the second time… but it’s no wonder they didn’t. Missed a whole day of work. Never again will I go here.

This place is no good, I have been going to Les Schwab for 20+ years and over the last couple years I have had nothing but bad experiences from them.

Told me 40 minutes to get my tire patch waited for an hour still not pulled my car in yet. Then I ask why it’s taking so long when you told me 40minutes?! The front desk gal was so clueless and came back and told me she didn’t know how much longer it will take. Then why the hell did you tell me 40 minutes! I waited so long I just told them to give me back my damn keys and left to somewhere else. It took the next place I went only 20minutes total to get me in and patch and rotate tires. I hate les swabs service and there reception. All of there reviews are horrible also.

When you open the door to go in, it hits you in the face like a truck. The sweet smell of doughnut shaped petroleum products. This is the only other time to get excited about putting some rubbers on. These guys work so hard at customer service they make cable companies seem like a bunch or satanists. The prices on tires are based on the mileage that they will last. If you don’t have a huge paycheck, you can apply for credit. I take my Land Rover in every 6 months for a rotation, free of charge.(Must buy tires here). Free safety and air check along with free flat repair. It doesn’t get better than this. And waiting is less painful with free popcorn, coffee, and t.v. They perform most suspension and brake jobs. too. With a guarantee. Never have I seen one angry staff member in all my years going to Les Schwab.

I love this company and my family have been going there for decades. I have been to this location twice.
First time I came to this location it was to get a set of tires. I also asked them to look at my brakes because a previous mechanic (whom I didn’t trust) told me I needed my «brakes» done immediately.
They sold me new tires, tried to upsell me on cutting them in some way to make them better, which we didn’t do, and was told my brakes were fine and my brake pads were new! Awesome news!
Got my timing belt replaced at another shop a month later and the guy was very concerned about my front brakes. I bought front pads, rotors and misc stuff to do my front brakes. My front pads were extremely worn down so bad that chunks were starting to brake off. Strike 1.
We had a problem with new tire losing pressure so we took the car in. They told my gf that the back brakes were unsafe, and gave her a quote for rotors, calipers, pads, and told her our «fancy rims» were so corroded that tires wouldn’t seal right and they put a temp fix and that the other side had same issue. Mind you in the 3 or 4 months that had passed that the other side held pressure great. Why didn’t they tell me about the rims before? Strike 2. They didnt even wipe all the grime they put on my «fancy rims».
Went and bought pads and rotors for the rear took off pads and they were not even worn down to the metal indicator. The rotors had less than 1 mm of wear and the calipers needed some grease on the slide pins but other than that, these brakes were fine. Strike 3.
Crying wolf and telling my gf that we need to spend a thousand dollars is ridiculous. Being condencending about rims that came on our used car is uncalled for. I had to spend half my Saturday TWICE under my car because of this place and it is very upsetting. I would have preferred to pay to get my brakes down but all this nonsense put me in a situation where I couldn’t plan ahead. Needless to say I will be driving a good ways to avoid this store.

This is the only place I’ll go to get my tires and car repair done. Consummate professionals and quality service at great prices. Today I went in to get a tire fixed and was given a complimentary patch repair! My service pro, Elias, did a lightning fast fix and made my day! Thank you, Les Schwab!

If you don’t care about customers and are rude to them at the counter, how can you expect them to trust you to care about their cars and treat their cars with respect?
The customer service at this location however is terrible. They are not at all professional. I would not count the entire franchise out, but I will never be returning to this place.
Go to any other store than this one and I am sure it will be fine.

Wow talk about not helpful. An hour and a half wait and they don’t take appointments. No thanks.

I got to my car at the end of the day and found a flat tire… Let’s skip ahead to the next morning and arriving late for my day to have started and needed a more permanent solution to my spare asap. I was in panicked hurry but the lady at the front desk was very kind and patient with all of my questions, she told me it’d be about 30 – 40 minutes to get my car looked at and then a few minutes after her estimation I had my keys in my hand and I was singing an empty receipt. There was a nail puncturing the tire so they fixed it right up and didn’t charge me! They weren’t even their tires! I was so pleasantly surprised that they fixed my flat tire and set all my tires to proper levels for free! I wish I remembered the gal’s name but she really made my week when right then. I’ll be coming back for any tire needs I may have! Thank you thank you!

I’ve had a few interactions with this location out of mere convenience, two which have left a very bad impression.
1. I was on the Terwilliger curves and my brakes felt very weak all of the sudden. I thought they was a bubble in the fuel line or something, so I asked them to take a look that morning. They never called me about it, so the next afternoon I walked over to check on status. They told me everything was fine and it was ready to go and that they didn’t have a receipt for me because they we’re under warranty. It was pretty bizarre, but I accepted it and drove away. The problem was still there, so I took it to the location in NE. Turns out my front left caliper was loose, so I’m pretty sure the guys on Powell never looked at my car.
2. I took my car in twice within the span of a month for a slow leak before a long road trip. They kept telling me nothing was wrong, alignment was fine and all that. Today, I had the pleasure of buying a 60k tire as my old leaking one was completely bald due to misalignment after 20k miles.
I love Les Schwab, but this location is irresponsible.

I have been going here since I had my first car. Always well knowledgeable on tires and breaks. Had both my breaks replaced there and brand new tires put on my car.
Yes, it can be expensive but that honestly comes with the territory of buying a car. If you cant afford it, don’t buy a car in the first place.
Free popcorn and the Customer Service has always been really good. I normally always go right when they open which I think is the key. If you get there early no matter what you need done they normally can get right to it and you will be out of there within a few hours.
They will be getting my business for break and tires for a long time to come.

A visit to Les Schwab is always a reminder that chivalry is not dead. Yes, I know, good customer service is what they are trained to give (and known for), but a girl can dream that their hard working guys race out to our cars and open doors for us, simply because that’s what their mama taught them (and not Les Schwab).
My family and I have been buying our tires from Les Schwab since we moved here in 1984. I also get snow tires put on and taken off each winter. That runs me about $ 50 a pop, so this year I’m taking a gamble and saving myself the $ 100. However; you shouldn’t take that risk if you live somewhere like Bend or somewhere hilly.
Last year I saved myself money and bought tires elsewhere for less. I have no idea how that purchase will pan out, since it’s Les Schwab that is known for the best customer service in the west. They will pull nails and patch tires you’ve purchased from them, but I can’t say the same for the other business. You get what you pay for, so let’s hope I don’t run over any nails.
My one gripe is how much they charge for other services (ie brakes and other small services) While I pay $ 25 for an oil change at a shop near my house, my dad got roped into paying $ 75 for his at Les Schwab. I was upset, thinking they took advantage of an elderly person, but he insisted he knew his other options but preferred to pay more to hang out in their waiting area; watching TV, reading the paper and eating their complimentary popcorn and drinking their free coffee. He says they are the «Cadillac of tire companies» and is willing to pay more. It’s also bothersome that they will always «find» something they believe needs to fixed on my car each time I buy new tires. The last time I bought tires, they charged me for a service I didn’t ask for. I fought them on that and they ended up admitting it was a mistake. Hopefully it was an honest error.
Overall though, I am a happy customer. Goodness knows, my dad is.

Prior to last weekend I was «one of those people» — you know, those free loading SOBs who go to Les Schwab for the free nail removal/​tire patch but who do not buy their tires there. I am embarrassed by my past transgressions, really I am.
I fixed my tomcatting ways this past weekend when I purchased a full set of tires from the very nice folks at Les Schwab. My only regret is that they did not come with a side of beef. Yeah — not as weird a statement as it seems. This place has been giving away free beef with tires for damn near 50 years. But apparently you have to come in during beef month, whenever the hell that is.
I was in and out the door in an hour, on a weekend, with no prior planning beyond, «Did I really just spin rubber on a wet leaf? I guess the mechanic was right, these things are done.» I toured the available tires with the sales rep, chose among three options, and commenced waiting.
Comfortable enough waiting area with TV, vending machines, and free popcorn. This is the sort of activity for which smart phones were created. An hour passed without notice as I caught up on Draw Something, Words with Friends, Dice with Buddies, Twitter… you get the idea.
If you, too, are a Les Schwab free loader, I am writing to tell you that their product and customer service is totally worth it. Stop the desperate booty calls and commit.
