Wow the reviews were right! The owner was an absolute joy and the jerk chicken sandwich was scrumptious. I also tried the pork which was average but the whole experience was so outstanding that I’m thrilled to give this 5 stars. All the best to the owners!

While in downtown Portland for the first time, my wife and I were getting hungry. After checking out Unilocal for suggestions, we ended up here. Who knew that these small shack-like pop us are so popular here! We stuck with our choice and ordered a couple sandwiches from Kingsland. So glad we did! Both the 3-cheese blend grilled cheese and slow roasted pork sandwiches were amazing! There aren’t any seating areas, so we brought our lunch to the many open tables at Voodoo doughnuts just a couple blocks away.

I’m not the one to typically write reviews but this one I’m writing as I’m finishing my Mumbai chicken sandwich. To begin with the service is always friendly making appropriate suggestions based off what you’re feeling at the moment to eat. I started with a pineapple jerk chicken sandwich and was amazing, today I was recommended a Mumbai sandwich and I can easily say I was not let down. I ask for extra sauce on my sandwiches because I like them moist and the filling is delicious. The size is very modest, leaving you wanting more but incapable of consuming any. I typically save a bit for later on as to not weigh myself down cause it’s easy to destroy one sandwich possibly even two. Out of all the carts located near this one, I’d say this one is a must. I recommend the pineapple jerk, but try them all.

I was very excited to try this very highly rated food truck in the heart of Portland, even more after a good couple of hours of book immersion in the best local bookstore. The owner is a super nice guy, very friendly and with a SPLENDID accent, but… At 12.15ish, they were already out of sausage to make their famous Traditional British Bangers sandwich(with fried egg, roasted tomato, mushroom and brown sauce). I got a cheese sandwich(three cheese blend, roasted mushrooms, spring onions) instead, and it was cheesy and buttery, but pretty unremarkable. I am definitely giving it another chance next time I am in town, though, the British Bangers sounds too tempting.

Absolutely delicious! My boyfriend got the pork sandwich and I had the jerk chicken. The sauce, the marinades. Fantastic. Californians in Portland and loving the street food! This one is a must!

I went to Kingsland Kitchen while in Portland at a conference for school. I stayed in a hotel downtown and always asked the new concierge each day where the best places to eat in Portland were. Three different concierges and a local in the lobby said if I go to the street food carts I must stop at Kingsland Kitchen. And of course I did, and I’ll tell you they didn’t disappoint. Running the cart is a man with an English accent who(when I asked) told me he was from Warwickshire England! So you know they must be making great British-style sandwiches. But they didn’t have just English style sandwiches, they also had their versions of Caribbean and Italian sandwiches too. I myself got the Jamaican jerk chicken sandwich with pineapple salsa. It was delicious! I ate the entire sandwich, which could easily be shared among two people. They don’t skimp on the meat and the bread they used was fresh and soft with a slightly crunchy outside, it was perfection. When I go back to Portland I definitely want to try more of their sandwiches(both breakfast and lunch). This is a place that should NOT be passed by! Signing off, Bretzlaf

I’ve had a lot of good food but rarely do I feel compelled to write a review for it but the sandwich I got from Kingsland Kitchen certainly requires a positive review. Ive been meaning to get something from this cart ever since I started working down the street a few months back. Today, after running a little behind, I decided to skip breakfast in lieu of this. I got the«Little Britain» sandwich and it was one of the best breakfast sandwiches I’ve ever had.(I even had to text my wife immediately to tell her how happy I was) Each bite taken was better than the last. The sandwich has a fried egg, banger pork sausage, applewood smoked bacon, black pudding, mushrooms, tomato, hp brown sauce — which may sound like a whole lot piled on an English muffin but it was perfect. After finishing it, I was full but not stuffed and it was a satisfying full that lasted for some time — unlike fast food breakfast sandwiches. I’ve seen a lot of positive reviews on how friendly the owners were and I must say that I was very happy to see that they indeed were. They were polite and thankful no matter how busy it may have been at that time. Normally there’s at least a bit of a line each morning I walk by so I know the two must be very busy but it doesn’t seem to effect them. Overall, it was a very great experience that I know I’ll be going back to without question and seeing as I work nearby and constantly walk past their cart I will absolutely be stopping by again.

Piece of Art! This cart sells gourmet sandwiches. I just discovered them last week and I’ve already been there thrice. The slow roasted pulled pork sandwich is my ultimate favorite. The owner seems to be nice too asking about how I liked my food the last time. If you haven’t already, you have to try the slow roasted pork. A few other favorites of mine are the Mumbai chicken and jerk chicken. They serv English style breakfast too.

Jerk Chicken was slightly spicy from the chicken and slightly sweet from the pineapple. A perfect blend stuffed between soft French bread. The customer service was the cherry on top. Love this place.

It takes a lot for me to give 5-stars. To me, that means that it can’t get any better. This is it. It can’t get any better. The full English breakfast. Wow! Bangers done perfect. Bacon galore… nice and soft. Tomatoes flawlessly executed. The black pudding — well, I just wanted more! Even my young ones thought it to be fantastic. Go. Gogogogo and love it all.

As I sit here enjoying the afterglow of my full English breakfast, I wonder how often I can justify the trip downtown to eat here again. The sausage was amazing! The crusty bread formed the perfect base to an incredibly authentic and thoroughly satisfying meal. For just a moment I felt that I was back across the pond, savoring my meal before setting out between the stone wall lined farmlands. Chris and his wife are so friendly and have truly brought a gem to our city from the UK.

Visiting Portland on business, and hungry for some breakfast. Unilocal around and see this little gem the next block over. Waltz over to check out the menu. The owner, Chris, recommends the sirloin breakfast sandwich so I comply. Bring it back to the hotel room. Crack open the wrapper and I’m immediately covered in cheese and sauce. Excellent. Take a bite, lordamercy this sandwich is amazing. Perfect amount of sauce and spice to wake you up and fight off the morning stuffy nose. The meat is tender, the veggies have absorbed the juices, the egg isn’t overcooked nor runny, and the cheese was cheesy. Ha! Definitely recommend, Chris and his wife Holli are the dynamic duo of character and cooking wizardry. I’ll definitely come back to Portland just to sample more of their menu! If you’ve read this far, odds are you’re already in line to order. And if not, what are you waiting for? P. S., their little food stand/stall/spot looks sharp in contrast with their neighbors.

I literally planned my birthday vacation around visiting Chris and Holli at Kingsland Kitchen. First met them last summer when Chris stopped a coworker and me as we passed his cart on the way to Voodoo. We were in town for work and went back to his cart as often as we possibly could until we left(and I stopped by once more on the way to the airport). Try the Guinness beef. You will not be sorry. Anything at their cart is outstanding, and I have it on good authority that their grilled cheese sandwich is approved even by kindergarteners

Had the Mumbai spiced chicken sandwich. It is an interesting sandwich due its global nature alone: a very authentic Indian flavor made using an English recipe and served in Portland. Interesting tidbits aside, the sandwich had a distinct Indian flavor and was delicious. It might be a little on the spicy side if you are not too used to the South East Asian cuisines. The portion size was also reasonable and filling for an $ 8 sandwich. I would say the place is definitely the worth the consistent 5 stars it getting and can’t wait to go back there again and try some of the other popular recommendations.

Loved the Mumbai spiced chicken. If I would not have ordered it myself I would have been surprised to find out that this sandwich was not made by an Indian. The flavors that you get in the sandwich are so authentic Indian that I loved it. The French roll goes very well with the whole combination and I would definitely suggest this place and this sandwich. Will have to try the Guinness braised beef also next time as it also looks good.

Monday, late morning, frozen streets. My favorite Thai cart is closed. Also the Maritian cart, and the Korean Fusion cart. Shit. There’s a beacon of hope. Kingsland Kitchen is open for business in this icy insanity. The gentleman greets me warmly, and I order the special Cubano sandwich, awaiting patiently. It took a little longer than I’d like(given the frigid conditions), but I later found out they were having issues with their cart. It doesn’t matter in any case, because the sandwich was delicious. The pork was succulent but not overpowering, while the ham was a nice, salty accent. House pickles and mustard were a nice way to cut through the savoriness. The bread is grilled to perfection, staying crisp while moist at the same time. As I’ve noticed before, food carts with one type of product tend to do the best, and Kingsland Kitchen is no exception. I can’t wait to try out the breakfast options, as well as the other lunch sandwiches. This cart is a more-than-welcome addition to the cart neighborhood in downtown.

Kingsland Kitchen is food cart royalty. The owner – I think it was Chris – was pleasant, kind, and friendly, even allowing my friend and I to try samples of the spicy curry chicken tikki(the special of the day). He also patiently explained the crowd-pleasers and the way the food is made. Lots of stretch cooking and housemade slaws, etc. I went for the slow roasted pork, which was a French roll stuffed with soft, tender pork, a cider slaw with fresh apples and a slight tartness/crunch, cabbage, and pork cracklings(skin). AMAZING. All the different textures and flavors blended together to make a legit sandwich that filled my belly with happiness. Even the folks sitting next to us inquired about what we were eating. Definitely one of my favorite food carts ever here in Portland.
