Simon is the best! We take all of our vehicles to him because he is honest and reliable. Always does great work! I would recommend K&S to anyone!

My wife dropped her car off to get checked out. They said it might be the rear brakes and would be ~$ 330. I knew that was a lot for brakes but we decided to see what the final diagnosis was. I the morning they called and said the work was done. I told them I never approved any work. He said we approved the brakes and he was going to call if anything else was wrong. I think he took advantage of my wife.
FYI, I called firestore and a couple other places. Rear brakes were $ 175-​$ 250 including new rotors and lifetime warranty. K&S charge $ 337 with a one year warranty.

I went to K&S after a dealer denied a warranty claim. Simon did everything in his power to keep me from spending money. He is honest, highly skilled and knowledgeable. I now have a new engine courtesy of the manufacturer.

K & S Auto did a great job with my repairs. I had some alternator trouble, so I stopped by to give Simon’s shop a try. I have been looking for a good and reputable mechanic for some time now since my last mechanic had to close down. I think I have officially found a new shop that I can trust. He completed work very quickly and my car is now running great. His pricing was fair and included extensive warranty. Ultimately, I am more satisfied with Simon and his shop than I expected, and much more satisfied with the work done than I have been about any other shop that I’ve been to in years.

An honest mechanic … At last!
It’s a small shop located right on 70^th & Glisan. It’s not a big shiny state of the art facility with machines that go «bing,» but don’t let that put you off. Simon is very knowledgeable and efficient. Never an upsell. He only recommends NECESSARY repairs, and will take the time to explain the problem to you.
I’ve been going to him for the past couple of years and have had nothing but positive experiences.
Highly recommend!

Finding a good, trustworthy mechanic can be tough, but Simon is that and more! My car quit on me on a Saturday once and I called his shop to leave a message and he answered, let me know I could have the car towed their. Much to my surprise he called me the next day, a Sunday!, to let me know what was going on with the car and that he could have it fixed and ready to go on Monday.
His prices are fair and his service is great!

I’ve used Simon as my mechanic for the past several years and he has always been professional and done a great job. A few times he would not even charge me for super basic work or his opinion (when I was purchasing a car). He is very trustworthy and his prices are fair.

Recently Simon replaced the engine of my Ford 150 pick-​up. I couldn’t be happier… We drove the truck down to the beach last weekend, and it ran like a champ. The prices at K and S auto are competitive too, Simon’s bid was about $ 100 less than Firestone to do the work.

A highly recommended shop drove the car around the block and without even opening the hood, said I needed a new transmission ($ 2600). The shop on the corner opened the hood but didn’t drive the car, and said I needed new transmission fluid and some other fixes ($ 800). Simon investigated under the hood and test drove the car, then said I needed a few transmission tweaks ($ 350) due to manufacturer error.
After he explained the fixes in great detail, I told him to go ahead. When I got to the shop that afternoon he walked me through everything again, and as soon as I got behind the wheel I realized he’d fixed the problem. Two months later the car is still running great. I won’t be going anywhere else from now on.

I wish I could write a nice review for Simon, because he is kind, but I don’t think he’s proficient with Nissans. We brought our Nissan Sentra in because the service engine light came on. Simon charged us $ 450 to replace spark plugs that had already been replaced about a year earlier and an engine coil. It seems he was guessing what to do because ultimately, it did not solve the problem. When I asked Simon to explain the neccessity of the repairs, he was very nice but I really didn’t understand. The check engine light came on again despite bringing it back to Simon to check again. We went to Nissan Specialty Auto for a thorough check only to discover the problem all along was the fuel pump, an additional $ 500 repair which we can’t afford now. Maybe K&S would be good for other types of cars, but my experience was very frustrating.

Simon and his wife have helped out me and several friends i have referred to them over the past year or so. He is so honest and will tell you what you really NEED not what he wants you to buy. He even looked at a few problems free of charge. When he couldn’t get a part we needed, he made one himself to fix the problem for cheaper.

Simon is brilliant, I would recommend him to anyone that needs motor repair in Portland.

I can’t believe I haven’t written a review for my mechanic Simon yet. Shame on me. I’ve been his customer for over 10 years. My husband has been with him for 15 or so. He is smart, honest, fast, charges a fair price, doesn’t do unnecessary work, explains what’s up and is an all around very cool guy. He is an excellent mechanic and tries to save his customers money. He has worked on 2 of my cars and 2 of my husband’s plus our very old truck. You don’t have to worry about that whole mechanic thing, just take it to Simon.

Simon is fantastic. He walked me through step-​by-​step the repairs my car needed, making sure I understood. He got the repairs done quickly and even washed my car for me. He saved the rotors to show me why they couldn’t be resurfaced, and when I came to pay, he pulled out a dixie cup filled with the carbon buildup he removed from the EGR system. I highly recommend K&S Auto!

Wow! That’s all I have to say for the prompt, affordable, professionalism work provided by the wonderful man, Simon. We went in with what we thought was a very large problem, quoted by an anonymous other auto place, and came out with a very fixed truck that was ready to go in just a few hours. I just can’t say enough about how over excited we are that we can now have money for the things we need. Thank you K&S!!!

Having found the holy grail well before Indiana Jones, I imagine I know a thing or two about impossible quests. But a scrupulous, affordable, friendly and honest car mechanic? Myth! Balderdash!
Well, friends, it turns out that the legend is real– K & S is indeed the real deal and I still haven’t been able to scrape my jaw off the floor (though admittedly my jaw is very square).
Went in for a whole host of small maintenance things (oil change, tune up, filters replaced etc) and one bigger thing (squeaky and alarmingly soft brakes).
Not only was all the work done with a high degree of conscientiousness (in addition to replacing the brake pads, they adjusted their position, sanded down some pitting on the plates and straightened out a bent rod that they happened to notice while doing the work), but Simon (the friendly mechanic and owner I think) insisted on giving me a holiday coupon discount on the work, even though I didn’t have a coupon on me.
Since my trip to the shop, the olé beat up corolla has been running like a charm…
