Most amazing yakisoba bowl I’ve ever had. I usually get it with beef. The fish & chips are also great. This place has become a weekly lunch spot for me.

This restaurant is top notch. Their selection of Scotch whiskey is superb, and their wine list is incredible. In fact, their selection of other spirits is well stocked as well. Great bartenders. The fish is divine. Always fresh, and incredibly prepared. I will certainly return here the next time I visit Portland! Highly recommended.

This is a hidden gem! We happened to walk past Mio on our way to PDX Playdate and we are so happy we did! The halibut and chips is the best in Portland! I was surprised to see all the fresh sashimi in the case starting at $ 6! The fridge also has marinated meats, chicken teriyaki and poke to take home. You can also purchase condiments, fresh salads, fruits and veggies in the refrigerators! They even had mochi, pearl drinks, and miso paste! We will be going back for the ahi tuna poke and the cod fish and chips. I will however say the hot bowls(bulgogi and teriyakis) were not awesome, but the meat had good flavor. I would stick to the fish and chips/and sashimi!

Great place to pick up sashimi grade fish for making your own sushi rolls. Prices are very reasonable.

Having Mio Seafood near my work is perfect when I don’t bring lunch and I don’t want to battle traffic near NW23rd. It’s not a regular Mio Sushi — it’s a little market with bento, fish and chips, and fresh fish for you to bring home to cook. The fish looks fresh and delicious, and the refrigerated case has a variety of marinated meats and sushi rolls. I have so far stuck with my standby — teriyaki chicken.(Why is there not more teriyaki in Portland?!) One of my top 5 favorite foods. Mio’s version has delicious teriyaki sauce with veggies and grilled chicken, and a TON of rice. I have also tried a bite of the fish and chips(of which you can get several types of fish — today they have cod, salmon, or sole) and they were very good. Not too greasy, a lovely batter, and served with tasty fries. You can also pick up Japanese treats here. Pocky, botan rice candies, ramune sodas, and sauces to take home too! So it’s good for lunch and to eliminate a trip to the Asian grocery store.

3 tables to eat at outside while listening to the roar of the freeway. We had the fish and chips and were underwhelmed. I can’t comment on the sushi. The guy also had a hard time pricing things because he was low on halibut so had to do a half and half. Sorry we won’t be back.

Delicious sushi in the grab and go display case. Perfectly crispy/flaky fish and chips. You can’t go wrong here

Seaweed salad for $ 3.50, rolls for $ 4.50, the freshest sashimi for $ 8-$ 10, Bento boxes, halibut & chips– Mio Seafood’s order-at-counter location attached to their headquarters is seriously a hidden gem. Their fish is so fresh they discount all their rolls after 3pm. So hey, if you’re craving sushi when you leave work, head over here. Quality is that of a sushi restaurant, far above Safeway sushi… and don’t even mention Trader Joe’s plastic sushi to me, yuck. My salmon sashimi was so fresh and perfectly cut into thick, fatty slices. Don’t forget to grab yourself one of their giant mochis! Plenty of chilled beverages and covered picnic seating outside to stay cool during your lunch hour too

$ 8 for Cod Fish and Chips sounded like a good deal, but in the end the three tiny pieces were unmemorable. The fries were nothing special. Not bad, maybe considered borderline value. The California Roll and Spicy Tuna Rolls were average venturing on subpar. I’d rank it right above Fred Meyer and Safeway ready to eat sushi. You know you’re in for amateur sushi when the rice is cold, not room temperature. Decent service and many cool miscellaneous items for sale. Maybe its the place to go for fresh fish and sashimi only. It was busy so I guess they have a following.

Service can take awhile but it’s very good food for a quick seafood stop. I had the fish and chips which was very tasty and didn’t feel heavy at all.

This is my favorite sushi/seafood joint in the alphabet district. It’s a secret most people don’t know about, so as long as you arrive a little before or after the lunch rush you can avoid waits. The fish is as fresh as I’ve had it anywhere in Portland, and you can get a huge amount of sashimi for around $ 8! Just don’t come for the atmosphere, although the freeway does drown out inane conversation while you’re trying to concentrate on an incredibly buttery piece of salmon.

Buyer beware, some of the sushi has raw onion in it. I almost threw up in my office experiencing my least favorite vegetable hidden in my sushi. They don’t list it on the name plates.

The cod fish and chips were excellent. There was enough crunch and the tartar sauce was good as well. I’ll definitely go back. Also they have a good selection of fresh seafood at reasonable prices.

very fresh fish, extremely reasonably priced since i was able to make more than enough sushi rolls to feed 4 for only $ 20 worth of sashimi! they also sell all the other things you may need/want for making sushi at home when your wallet can’t afford to go out. best part? the place doesn’t smell like your typical seafood department of most asian food stores :)

Do you wanna know how to tell the fish is fresh? You eat it raw! Sashimi baby! I know some of you aren’t fans of eating fish still wiggling but I am, so I did the research for you. It’s fresh. Absolutely fresh. My husband and I have come here to pick up their sashimi when we do sushi at home. Sometimes we also sushi cheat on each other and secretly come just to get their sashimi for lunch. It’s under $ 10, it’s fresh, and I don’t feel guilty after eating it… And a mochi ;-) Since I’m also a huge fish & chips fan, I’ll be sure to try it soon.

With our attempt to go to Olympic Provisions and having them closed for a deep cleaning we ended up here at this fine establishment. I have been by here before and heard they had really good fish and chips and that is definitely no lie. I got the halibut fish and chips. I think it was 7 or 8 and it was awesome. They had Cod, Salmon and the Halibut. I opted for the Halibut and was definitely satisfied. If you are in the area you must stop off here. They do have fresh seafood where I think they deliver to their sushi restaurants. They have nigiri and sashimi in their refridgerators that are made fresh daily.

Awesome fresh fish market with excellent prices! I have had their wild caught shrimp(which they kindly peeled and deveined for me), salmon, mussels and oysters. All were fantastic and tasted like they had just been caught. They sell other ingredients for sushi and salads as well as prepackaged smoked salmon which was also great and cheaper than the grocery store. There’s always a wide selection and it varies daily. The staff are so friendly and the shop just looks cool! It’s on 16th and NW Thurman, make sure to go!

As a Unilocaler, I am obliged to write this review. For too long, I have frequented this hidden gem in the city without sharing it with the world. This is my secret fish and chips shop, hidden behind a garage door and underneath the overpass. The shop: Clean, cheap, and full of interesting things to eat. The pre-wrapped produce is the cheapest in the area. The Japanese snack and drinks are plentiful and affordable. The fresh fish cooler always has something interesting and inexpensive(but skip on the arrow fish, it never seems to cook up well). The food: While they do offer a few types of marinated meat and teriyaki, skip it. It’s not that it’s bad, but in comparison to the fish and chips, you will be disappointed. The cod is my standby; freshly breaded in panko and fried in clean oil. The salmon is a close second, and is even better after spending some time in the fridge. The shrimp is delicious, but not enough to make a meal out of. The service: These are the friendliest bunch of fish-mongers you will ever meet. Not only will the cashiers remember you, but so will the kitchen staff. Edwardo, the guy at the counter, is probably the kindest server I know. Now, around the lunch rush things tend to get a bit snarled. Budget a few extra minutes for the wait and know that your order is going to be amazingly fresh. I implore you Unilocalers, don’t let the Willamette Weekly or The Oregonian find out about this place. I do not want to see it on any«Top 10» lists in a Conde Nast publication. And please, if you have to tell your friends about this place, make them sign a non-disclosure agreement. That way, us Unilocaling few can enjoy our golden gleaming dishes all to ourselves.

I love that they have sustainably caught fish that tastes fabulous! Their prices are great and the staff is super helpful. It’s between Alphabet and the Pearl in the industrial section, so if I didn’t happen to be driving by, I would have missed it. That’s a sad thought. They are usually pretty well stocked but sometimes are low on scallops — which are my favorite. The salmon is tasty too. :)

I found myself wandering around this part of town yesterday and was in search of something easy to eat. I’ve always wanted to check out their seafood market since there really aren’t any in The Pearl(aside from Whole Foods — ugh). But I was hungry too so their sign outside offered fresh fish and chips. yum I thought. Well as luck would have it they were changing their oil so no fish and chips. I ended up getting a salmon teriyaki. meh– salmon overcooked and a few string beans a few broccoli head and some shredded carrot. My recommendation: do not go to this place to eat but rather to get whatever Japanese food supplies you might need plus fresh fish — great assortment of fresh fish to take home.

I almost don’t want to review this because it’s such a cool little secret place — but let me just say, as someone who constantly has to explain how little he likes seafood, this is probably some of the best fish-and-chips I’ve had. Breading is perfect, meat is oh-so-fresh, and the price is right. Sometimes there are special meats available(shark!) which is fun, and a good reason for frequent revisits.

When you run a successful sushi mini-empire, you order a lot of fish. You get good-to-great quality, at volume discounts. Now we can get the same Mio sushi quality at great prices, for a fishy dinner or for rolling our own. The small market is located in a garage roll-up in the light industrial part of Northwest, where the Pearl blurs into the Pylons of Fremont Bridge.
