We don’t get to come here enough. Great people and a fun atmosphere. Plus hockey games!

Great bar/restaurant. Drinks are inexpensive on HH, moderate off HH. HH portions are good for the price, and the food is good. They small plain burger is only a couple bucks, and additional toppings are only 25 cents each(amazing). Afternoon HH goes till 7pm.(unfortunatly m — f only) Environment is cozy, casual, clean & well maintained. A bit on the dark side, which adds to the feel(in a positive way). Waitstaff is friendly, and usually fairly quick. Patrick is frequent server does good job.

This is a neighborhood bar that brings together everyone from construction to business people and we all have a good time. Staff is friendly and works hard. Good bartenders. Typical bar food fare however it is done quite well and prices are generally $ 8 or less for anything on the menu. We love Jolly!

The good olé’ JR. I am a fan of this place, or more specific, I’m a fan of their fish tacos. Lucky for me my office is only a block away and from my start everyone always raved about their fish tacos. I quickly became a fan when I first tried them. Everything is fresh and flavorful, with just the right amount of cabbage, greasiness and salsa. The service has always been fast and and friendly. I’m sold on the JR!

Seems like a cool little spot to hang out and watch some games and sip a few beers. Super friendly staff. The servers were super cute, nice and funny. I like when bar staff takes that extra 10 seconds to say hi and exchange a few words. I can see myself stopping here again.

Five stars for a dive bar? Um, yeah. I’m that chick. My co-workers and I try to hit The Jolly on Taco Tuesday(3 real tacos for $ 3? Hells, ya!). The ladies are nice and prompt. The food is always good. I also like their in/out burgers. Smaller burger, smaller price. Perfect for lunch. It’s street parking and that can be a bitch but it’s worth it. It’s a small, cozy place. It’s just homey. I dig it. Did I mention Taco Tuesday?

Our local go to bar when we want a drink and food in a friendly casual atmosphere. Lots of TV’s to watch the game and lottery if you want to play. To me, the food is hit or miss. I have ordered the chicken caesar salad in the past and I feel like the lettuce is not super fresh and the chicken is from a frozen patty. On the other hand I have ordered the enchiladas when they are a special and they are out of this world! Good selection of wines for a neighborhood bar. We had attended Trivia night and it’s a blast. This place works hard to keep their patrons engaged and coming back. They are a great neighbor. They host a big party on the Annual Neighborhood Night Out with a live band and inexpensive hot dogs and hamburgers. I love that!

I know the food may not warrant a five star rating but this is a joints joint. Local hang out neighborhood relax and just take off the tie Be a part of the collective crowd or just hang with your clan. TV with every game all aroind the bar. Classic rock jams from the jukebox. I almost didnt care what the food was like the beer was cold and there is a different special all day long. No happy hour needed here. You are always happy at the Jolly. I think im in love with a hangout. Guess what? Its burgers tacos tots usually a chilli or a soup that is home made and tasty. Icing on the cake for me. The pizza is better than some full time pizza places. Maybe ive been looking for a place like this maybe it just found me. Welcome aboard Mayties the Jolly is where you take your girlfriend not your date. Cause your comfortable not trying to impress.

The Jolly Rodger has fast become my favorite neighborhood hangout. My mile –plus walk to the establishment is always well rewarded with a great selection of daily drink and menu specials and a warm, welcoming greeting from their attentive staff. Jane is my favorite server. Her warm smile, pleasant personality, and computer-like command of the command of the daily menu never cease to amaze and impress. The daily specials are among the best anywhere, and my instant default when ordering food. the staff is always wiling and eager to adjust their offering of big screen sports to please most any sports fan. Just minutes from downtown Portland, the Jolly Roger is worth the drive for anyone seeking excellent service, great food and a good value. Yo, ho, ho, and a a bottle of rum!

I must say that I have enjoyed the company that this bar has to offer. Amy has one of the best personalities that you can get from a Bartender. I live in the neighborhood and have been to this bar several times, it’s the only one in the area that I like going to. I was in there the other day and met the owner for the first time, he’s a very boisterous guy that seems to be friends with everyone. The majority of the company in the bar as well as the atmosphere and the employees makes me want to come back. It’s nice to have a neighborhood bar that makes you feel at home. Their food is great as well! The fish tacos are to die for as well as the little burgers that they have. There aren’t many places in Portland that you can have dinner and a drink for under $ 10 but this is one of them. If you are ever in the neighborhood and want to find a laid back, welcoming, fun place this is one you should definitely try out!

Great off the beaten path neighborhood bar. Always full of colorful regulars and super friendly staff. The couple that owns it is are also very fun and eccentric. They are throwing a lot of events and it gets packed, so get there early for Tuesday Bingo, Wednesday Trivia, Blazers games, Winterhawks games, etc. Micro Mondays have deals on all the beers, in addition to a designated night for the individual micros. Food selection is average bar fair, but done pretty well. If there is a special on the chalk board it is usually amazing. If the homemade lasagne is up there get it, don’t even look at a menu!!!

Greatest Bar in the world… or at least in Johns Landing! Super friendly staff, best burger this side of the Mississippi, and even a field goal in the urinal! What else do you need?

This place is super busy on trivia night(Thursday). Most nights it is pretty laid back with ample room at the bar. I recommend the«wangs» and from time to time they run specials. I’ve seen some singer/songwriter stuff but it falls into an open-mic type stuff.

John’s Landing is a very schitzophrenic part of PDX. Its heyday was the early 80s, where the area was the«in» place to have an office. My father had an office in John’s Landing a few years before he moved downtown. All of the shops at the time, including the restaurants, were hip and chic. Today, there are still some office park areas that are very nice, and there are a few eateries in the area that are OK. However, some of the hip and chic areas of the early 80s still have that look of the early 80s, and now they simply look dated, and not in a cool whimsical way, but in a sad, you-didn’t-take-care-of-it way. However, there are still a fair number of «suits» that work down here, which makes the Jolly Roger a bit… out of place, but still keeping with the lost in time vibe. In essence, it is just another semi-dive bar. The kind of place you would have gone to shoot pool, drink a few pitchers of Oly, and smoked a couple of packs of Camels. The kind of place that Norm from Cheers would *really* be hanging out. Nothing wrong with it, but seems like it is just a bit wrong for the area. The food, I must say, is pretty decent. I had the burger, and for the most part, it was pretty tasty. Nothing special, but nothing to complain about. The service was friendly. The prices were reasonable. Would I go there again if I was in the area? Sure. Would I go out of my way to go there? Nope. There are other dive bars that have really awesome food, but this just isn’t one of them. But if you are in the area, and you could use a little greasy food in a relaxed atmosphere that seems to want cigarette smoke, but it is missing, then you may want to check it out.

Nope. Not for me. Pretty much as soon as we walked in I kind of wanted to walk out. We kind of shrugged off the sad middle aged hang out vibe and stuck it through a a few pilsner urquells while the painfully dull Olympic opening show was taking up most of their numerous TV sets and unfortunately on the surround sound as well. Toward the bottom of my last beer they switched over to some live entertainment from a patron who had been previously taking up residence at the bar. That was pretty much the highlight of the experiencing, but that’s really not saying much. There’s nothing categorically wrong with Jolly Rodger. Waitress was friendly and relatively prompt. Beer’s priced pretty reasonably, though $ 13 pitchers as their promo price seemed a bit on the high end for what is for all intents and purposes a dive. It was clean, people were nice enough. Didn’t have any food but it looks like your typical pub grub options. But the 45 minutes it took in and out felt reminiscent of being stuck at your parents’ house party. If your parents were boring.
