Islanders Mini Mart

This is a Pacific Islander/​Indian mini mart. They carry an assortment of fish in large chest freezers, including some tropical (parrotfish, etc). I’ve never tried them yet because, well, I’m a little nervous about the quality of the fish in a store like this… but maybe I’ll muster up the courage, and when I do, I’ll update my review and let you all know how that went. They also some frozen meats, lamb and Samoan sausage (delicious with some sweet potato) and a bunch of dry goods like Indian spices for really cheap and canned goods.
I usually come here specifically for the Yours lemon powder, Ox&Palm corned beef (from New Zealand), and Ace of Diamond tuna (if you’re wanting canned tuna, try this one… you won’t be able to go back to Starkist or Chicken of the Sea or any other brand, really) If you are loooking for Yours lemon powder, this is the only place I’ve found that sells it aside from Uwajimaya; however, buy it here! It’s cheaper, especially if you live on the east side of town.
This store is not as nice as Lily’s (the Asian Mart nearby on Halsey) nor do they have as much variety, but they do have those few things you can’t find in the area, and that keeps me coming back.
Pick up some Aloha maid or Hawaiian Sun while you’re in there or maybe a Polynesian or Micronesia tee shirt and a (faux) plumeria for your hair.
