Working with Erik to help with my IT band and quad injury has been a pleasure. After struggling to gain relief on my own and manage daily activities I decided to try acupuncture. Erik knew a great amount about anatomy and identified the key areas where I was hurting. After three sessions, I’m finally gaining the strength to be more active and independent.

I have been seeing Erik for nearly two years and the attention and care I have received are above and beyond any of any health care provider. I am a relatively healthy 30 something, active, healthy eater, etc. but have suffered from chronic pain, anxiety, and stress and Erik has been able to treat it all! He has even offered and shown me some physical therapy (I don’t want to get him in trouble, if that’s not what he’d call it), but has helped with joint movement so that I can be more active and pain free. Would highly recommend!

A mighty serious work injury that required multiple surgeries had me looking for ways to manage pain and improve mobility, while steering clear of the bounty of narcotics my Dr’s prescribed. My Chiropractor suggested Inner Gate, and I have been a loyal fan since. I have seen four of the different providers, but generally see Erik on a regular basis. One thing I love about Inner Gate is their continued commitment to education. Because my injuries have impacted skeletal and muscular systems, I have really benefited from their recent educational focus on sports injury healing. Having been a patient for a good length of time, Erik has helped me navigate various health and well being issues as they have presented themselves including; Anxiety/​Stress/​Adrenal Fatigue, Wound/​Scar healing, Women’s health, Cold/​Flu and Digestive Health, all with immediate results. The entire team at Inner Gate are kind, caring, and thoughtful. With regard to the work injury, there is an extreme amount of paperwork and politics that Inner gate has to be diligent to navigate, and they do so with great care. They have extended hours outside of «normal» business hours, and even see patients on Saturdays. I am so very grateful to have Innergate in my life.

Inner Gate is the home of some of the loveliest practitioners and employees! I’ve had the utmost pleasure working almost twice a week with Kileen for the last 5 months, and she has become one of the most influential people in my life. I’ve actually learned how to practice a healthier life style going to this place. Kileen has healed me not only from terrible back and neck pain from a car accident I was in, but from many other ailments too! Oliver is a really awesome guy too, one of the owners so he really knows his stuff! These people make me feel cared for and at home, and I highly recommend this business to anyone! Also ask them to put «golden bowls» on in their fancy headphones. Talk about a zen hour of «you» time! So great!

These guys are great. From the desk to the treatment everyone is welcoming, professional, and great at what they do. I started getting treated here as a walk-​in. I’ve been to a couple of practicioners there and they were both top notch. I’d definitely recommend this place to anyone (and have).

I have been coming to Inner Gate since 2011 they are amazing! Tanya is my favorite, though each of their acupunturists are great. After I severally injured my back and had my MD throwing pain pills at me and telling me to «be patient» I decided to give acupuncture a try. Within 2 months she completely had my pain under control and 97% of the feeling back in my foot and leg (it was at about 10% due to nerve damage when I started seeing her). All in all if you want the highest level of care and an amazing, professional, knowledgeable, and personable staff this is the place to go.

Despite the tons of good reviews, I still feel like I should add one to the pack. This place is amazing. From the kind front desk to the little waiting area with rotating art to the rooms and the gong bowls music I always laugh at, Inner Gate is awesome. So awesome, I forced my partner here after a back injury put him out of commission for months and then again when we got into a bad car wreck. He’s visited Matt, Oliver and Tanya and all of them are fantastic. I stick with Tanya because she seems to intuit the pain more than I could’ve ever hoped for, leaving my meniscus and foot injuries feeling like I’m a teenager again (or at least, like I don’t have a decade plus of dancing behind me). I feel genuinely cared for at this place and really appreciate the time they’ve taken to help me through my injuries and frustration. I can fall asleep during sessions because it feels so healing, which is a huge relief. This is one time where the amount of reviews speak volumes about how incredible a place is. For all your acupuncture needs, you can’t beat Inner Gate for their experience, talent and personal touch. Possibly one of the best hidden gems of Portland.

I’ve been going to Inner Gate Acupuncture for a few years now and should have given an official review long ago as I would — and have — recommend (ed) them to anyone and everyone! They have helped me with multiple ailments; from migraine treatment to chronic pain relief to helping me with my overall health and happiness. The practitioners truly care about you as a human being and learn to KNOW you! I wish I could find a medical doctor that cared the way they do. To the clinic that hugs you when you leave… I love it there!

I should have written this review a long time ago, as I’ve been coming to Inner Gate ever since I moved to Portland back in 2007. I usually see Eric but have seen both Casey and Oliver when our schedules haven’t matched up, and they are all stellar practitioners. Inner Gate has helped me with so many problems over the years, from serious back issues to digestive problems, cramps, tendonitis, and joint inflammation.
They are always professional, friendly, and so helpful. I moved to deep Southeast a few years ago so they are no longer as closely convenient as they used to be for me, but it is still always worth the trip across town. I wouldn’t go anywhere else! These guys know what they’re doing!

Oliver and Eric are professional and care about their clients. I have been seen at their clinic personally and have also referred patients to their clinic with great results. I will continue to do so with confidence!

I started seeing Casey because I had troubles with my left shoulder for years. It would get stiff and I was so aggravated I thought that I would never be able to be free of the pain. After going in twice a week to start, then one a week and now down to every other week I can proudly say that my pain has decreased by at least 90%. From time to time I still have pain but I have had this issue for many years and believe it will take time. I am a server and so I have been carrying trays with food and drinks for 7 years now so I believe that has to do with the pain.
There was a time where I was not able to make it in for a couple of months and to my surprise Casey called to see how I was doing. Genuinely concerned. I look forward to my appointments there and never miss them because their friendly reception staff calls 24 hours ahead to remind you. I suggest Inner Gate to all of my coworkers and anyone experiencing pain to go visit, especially Casey. He is passionate about his career and always has a smile and open arms when you arrive! Literally. He’s a hugger! haha and I think it’s great :)

I found Inner Gate Acupuncture when i was biking down Ankeny one day. I walked in to check it out because I just moved to the area and wanted to find a new acupuncturist. The girl at the desk was really friendly and helpful. The atmosphere is calm, bright, and welcoming, which is exactly what I was hoping to find. I’ve been receiving treatment from Casey for about six months now, and I’ve been really impressed. It’s always an easy experience and I leave feeling better every time. They really know what they’re doing. I’ve been to a handful of other practices around the country and this one is one of the best that I’ve been to. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking to find treatment.

I *heart* my acupuncturists at Inner Gate. I’ve neck pain and stiffness for weeks. After a few visits and two tennis balls and a sock, «Poof» my neck is so, so much better. I’m able to sleep better and have neck mobility again. Like they say in Malaysia, «Terima Kasih.» :)

I went in because I was overdue and wanted to see if I could get labor started with a little acupuncture. The whole experience was blah. It was a while ago now, so I’ve forgotten the male acupuncturist’s name but he was very awkward, it was anything but zen, especially in discussing the service I would receive based on the fact that I brought in a Unilocal deal. Also, the acupuncture definitely did not kickstart my labor but I’m okay with that — it was just an experiment, really. The one star is for the awkward treatment by both the front desk woman and the acupuncturist.

Acupuncture used to scare me. Ever since I was little and went to my friend’s house only to see her mom chilling on the couch with needles in her face, I’ve been a little creeped out. Now that I am an adult and having some aches here and there, I started looking into alternatives to popping ibuprofen all too often. After dealing with TMJ pain and intermittent sciatic issues, my friend referred me to Oliver at Inner Gate and urged me to get over the whole needles in the face incident.
The people over at Inner Gate Acupuncture are the real deal. The first time I called, they answered all of my questions and got me scheduled easily. The waiting room has a lovely and calm atmosphere (with plenty of National Geographics to read). Oliver has helped me with headaches from my TMJ/​teeth grinding, fixing my sciatic pain after I inner tubed down a river too late in the season, and prepared me for my wisdom teeth surgery. I’ve even gone in for one thing and, by some magic, he found some other issue that I wasn’t even aware of! Sometimes I go in feeling super stressed and end up leaving an hour later feeling completely relaxed. Oliver is always super easy to talk to and I feel like I’ve just spent time with a good friend when I visit. The patient care at Inner Gate is extraordinary and they really take the time to get to know each patient as an individual, which seems to be a difficult thing to find these days.
I’ve now graduated from frequent visits to «come in whenever you feel beat up». I’m so happy that I found these guys, I’ve never felt better!

Painful than expected and combined with Tuina, it was actually REALLY enjoyable. Magic Hands! I have no doubt that all the practitioners are very knowledgeable and skilled. Only two negatives were the choice in music, sounds strange but the classical wasn’t very soothing or quite my style. Would have preferred more of a yoga/​meditation mix, perhaps something with a sitar. Also… Don’t wear a skirt! Or have pants on underneath. Classic newb move:)
Second experience. Music was just right, apparently it changes and maybe not all the practitioners use it. Woke up the day after the first session with a noticeable difference but still bent over and painful. After the second one I could almost stand up straight and there was MUCH less pain. I am going again in 5 days. I believe this will be healed with acupuncture. Having tried the chiropractor already and not really gotten results (@$ 125 a session), I am now a belieber. Yep, I said it i believe in acupuncture and Justin Bieber. Take that, western MED :)

If you are in need of help, Innergate is the BEST! I have Meniere’s (vertigo). They helped me through the worst of it and it has been gone since 2007! They have also helped my kids with asthma, allergies, muscle growing pains, injuries etc. It is truly amazing what they can do. I have seen Oliver and Erik mainly but they are all AWESOME!

I don’t really have much to say about this place, except when I went in there I had a large amount of back pain that just WOULD not go away. After four visits here, and four chairopractic visits I’ve never felt better. Well, I’ve felt better, but I was probably like, 16 and crazy. Back pain is gone. Great experience, great staff, etc. I’m definitely going to go back.

I have been going to Inner Gate Acupuncture for about a month and have been so impressed with the care I have received as well as the professionalism of the office staff. Scheduling is always a breeze, they are prompt and have no issues billing my insurance, which makes seeking alternative medicine that much easier. The best part is that I came in suffering from a variety of issues and I always feel like a million bucks when I leave. Erik is a kind and knowledgeable practitioner who clearly loves what he does. The building is conveniently located with plenty of parking and has a very peaceful ambiance.

I had my first acupuncture experience today and I feel elated. I walked into Inner Gate with no expectations and the entire experience was pleasant. I received friendly greetings upon arrival, paperwork was minimal, the lobby’s ambiance was welcoming, and my appointment started on time.
The session itself was splendid. I am very impressed with Oliver’s knowledge of sports injury and rehabilitation, with a particular focus on my sprained ankle and my post-​op shoulder which was prone to repeated dislocation and now suffers from inflexibility and uneven muscle/​tendon structure. After a thorough set to maneuvers as part of the consultation process, Oliver pinpointed the exact areas in need of circulation and attention to return my overcompensating shoulder back to it’s proper state. I look forward to weekly sessions with Oliver for this reason alone. It feels as if this session (though it may have been an atypical introduction to acupuncture) has done more for my shoulder than 6 months of physical therapy.
My ankle received the love, heat, and circulation it needed as well. I suffered an injury that normal ankle sprain rehab techniques could not solve because the injury was isolated to ligament damage and thus had no effect on my muscles or tendons (as diagnosed by Oliver). Typical strength exercises have had no effect, but proper heat application and acupuncture from Oliver in the isolated injury area will be my ankle’s paths to rehabilitation.
Finally, I had no idea the extent to which my shoulder injury had hindered and tightened my entire upper back. The third part of my visit consisted of upper back acupuncture followed by deep tissue massage. What Oliver found was a Pandora’s Box of knotted mess… which he untangled diligently.
I walked out of Inner Gate feeling as though all of my sports injury related concerns had been dealt with in a very personal, pleasant, and natural way. Lastly, there was ample time for meditation which added a nice spiritual component as well. All of us in our busy, distracted, and overstimulated lives could use some of this attention… not to mention the sports injury rehab.
