This store is an absolute gem for anyone looking to remodel on the cheap. As the website indicates, ‘Habitat for Humanity ReStores are nonprofit home improvement stores and donation centers that sell new and gently used furniture, home accessories, building materials, and appliances to the public at a fraction of the retail price.’ This is very, very, true. If you’ve priced out items at HD or Lowe’s and then stop in here, you’ll be absolutely shocked at how low some of the prices are. The only catch is that inventory changes almost daily for many of the more movable items(think tiles, flooring, furniture, smaller appliances, etc), which may require you to stop in more frequently if you’re looking for specific building materials. I personally love the excitement of stopping in to discover the unknown, mostly because this place is two minutes down the street from my house. In fact, I’m in here so often each week that I might need to start paying rent. On my most recent trip, I bought 22 sq ft of red oak flooring — which must have been the leftovers from someone’s floor installation — for $ 7 total. To put this in perspective, red oak flooring normally retails for about $ 3.50−4.00/sq ft, so I saved about $ 73+ — or like 90%+ off the normal retail price. Perhaps most people can’t use just 22 sq ft of flooring, but this was the perfect amount for me to patch up a bit of water stained floor in my dining room before refinishing the whole thing to make it look brand new. If you’re looking for windows, doors, vanities, or sinks, stop in here first before hitting the box stores. They have a HUGE inventory. They also have a huge room dedicated to furniture. Half the price of thrift store furniture and at least twice the quality. Some of the items are in need of refinishing but they are typically marked way down if it isn’t immediately something that would look nice in your home. If you can’t find what you need here, don’t fret; Home Depot is directly across the street so your trip all the way out to Warren Ave won’t be for naught.
