Grocery Outlet Bargain Market

So a lot of my friends have told me to try this store out so I went in there yesterday for the first time and the last I was looking at the meat a employee kept stepping in front of me when I was trying to shop but okay what ever he has a job to do but the man smelled so bad like cigarettes that I know there is no way he washed his hands before returning to work at that point I picked up a stake and got a worse smell it was of rotting meat I told the employee very quietly he told me to get out of his face I said wow man I’m not in your face thinking in my head you smell bad just like that food so then I asked to talk to the supervisor so they pointed her out she told me you can wash your hands but our meat just has a bad smell all the time so long story short they don’t care about their customers and don’t mind being rude and getting them sick

My first time to this particular store. It’s much like the rest of them. It was clean, well organized and stocked, good selection. Getting in and out of the parking lot was a snap, unlike the stores on the west side. Parking was easy too.
I went in needing some sweets for some reason (needing?) But before I knew it I had a giant box of pop tarts, a package of cupcakes (real hostess ones!) Swedish fish, Nerds, and Zingers.
Oh yeah, stocking stuffers, that’s what I needed, it was a few days before Christmas. And a candy bar. I’m apparently easily distracted by sweets. ;-)
The clerks were very helpful and friendly, as was the cashier. I will remember that this store is here when I am on this side of town.

If you eat (and shop) like I do, Grocery Outlet is probably not for you. I love deals, but not processed food — and that’s 90% of what’s on offer at Grocery Outlet. There’s some meet and cheeses and a tiny bit of produce, but if I did all my grocery shopping here, I’d end up eating very poorly.
On top of that, I’m regularly underwhelmed by the prices! Great deals are supposedly the whole point of the store, yet I rarely see a price I couldn’t beat at WinCo. And for produce, Morrow Bros. on 82^nd cleans Grocery Outlet’s clock.
In the end, I keep thinking this Grocery Outlet is aimed at people who don’t have cars, and therefore don’t have any other options. The employees are friendly enough, but I don’t see myself ever shopping here regularly.

We live quite close to this location and while I would love to do much more shopping here I regularly head up to the Hollywood location instead because of the fact that this location does NOT accept the Chinook Book coupon.
Other than that it’s a perfectly fine location — nothing special. There are cleaner locations and larger locations with better selection. The staff are friendly while abiding by what often seems like fairly militant policies (returns, bag checks, etc) but that isn’t the fault of the floor level staff.
In the end I would much rather support a local business that also values being part of a larger local business community and supporting other local business’s in the process.

Yes, it is hit or miss but when you catch great buys on meats, some dairy products, baking supplies, kitchen tools and a super size $ 10.00 coconut oil ($ 25.00 elsewhere) plus friendly helpful staff and less congestion as the big box stores you have to smile when you walk out the door having saved $ 40 -$ 70 dollars.

Very hit and miss. It just depends on what is in that day. But when the meats and cheeses are in they are amazing!!!

This place is not the prettiest grocery store you’ve ever seen, but boy do you get a deal! There are always plenty of workers on the floor and manning the registers if you need any help or have questions. The owner is very kind and observant. You definitely see some colorful folks in here. It’s a dig, but if you find something you like, you had better stock up!
The carts are not so great. The wheels are locked up or the locks don’t always work for the seat belts. The store itself seems to be pretty cleaned and constantly stocked. This place is in my neighborhood and conveniently located for me. I don’t always find everything I need, but start here before fulfilling the rest of my grocery needs.
If you want to find a good deal, check this place out and enter with no expectations.

YOU GET WHAT U PAY FOR! Warning… when I got home realized almost everything had expired two or three months ago and the milk expired a few days before. Don’t buy cereals, TV dinners, milk, chips they all were old. Really weak selection of cereals, chips, soups etc. basically just go to Win Co. better selection, food is fresh and in most cases a bit cheaper.

Was asked to check my mandolin in case behind counter, wasn’t gonna leave my valuable with these folks (had it on me in the first place because i didn’t want to leave it in hot car). I said I was on the way out & was rudely followed out. The man confronted me like he wanted to fight, i asked why a lady with a big purse was not asked to check her bag and i guess he didn’t like it.
Dude wanted to prove his authority or something he was like «Whats up?!» in a stance. we worked it out and nothing happened but come on, get it together Flavel. Some goon got nothin else to do, I will not be returning and am considering sending a complaint in to the store. Not into getting threatened when I go to grocery store by the staff.

I live close and go here often. Employees are always nice and I’ve always had a good experience there. unless a customer wants to write a $ 12 check, and the check machine doesn’t work so i’m stuck standing in line for 10 min. Y’all should really have a check minimum of $ 20, just saying.

I haven’t been to a Grocery Outlet in over a decade as I was living in an area that didn’t have any around. I found this one after moving to the area and was very pleasantly surprised! The prices and selection were better than I expected. I couldn’t believe my eyes when I saw PF Chang’s frozen entrees for only $ 3.99…They were upwards of $ 8 where I shopped in Georgia! They have a great selection of cheese and frozen goods. Produce was priced well, but not as good of quality as competitors. The customer service from the cashier was exceptional, very friendly! I look forward to shopping here again and again.

I don’t usually go to a Grocery Outlet and get impressed. But I was really happy with both the staff and the products at this location! Lots of inexpensive gluten-​free and organic goodies! Could use a better produce section which is why I took off a star.
Lots of North Coast items from time to time too– I hear this franchise is owned by a couple from Nor Cal so you can expect lots of fun stuff from the Redwoods, feels like home!

Would prefer to give this 3.5 stars. Super cheap, totally random stuff. The prices on wine and cheese are pretty superb, as well as seeming to be the two constants they have. The Gresham store has a much better selection, but I came in here on a Sunday at 1:30, prime grocery shopping hour IMO, and it was nice a quiet. Parking and store are clean and tidy.

I moved from Medford, which has an Awesome GO.
My first visit to SE GO, and I feel like a Regular!
The folks there helped me find what I was looking for.
The store is Super Clean, and easy to find what you need, and a Great Value!
Love This Store, as I can get more food for less $.

I love all Grocery Outlets, big city, small town, good neighborhood, not so good neighborhood, busy, empty — love ‘em all! But this is one of the best I’ve been to. Excellent selection with lots of new things every time, and I’ll echo the other review about how nice this staff is. The checker overheard me saying I had lost my bargain bucks coupon things that you can save up for a bobble head and she totally hooked me up with some extras that other customers had left behind — I got my Frugal Friend bobble head!!!
They even have a cool blog!
I realize this may look like an employee review, but it’s not, although I should probably be getting a salary from them based on how much of a Stan I am for the Grocery Outlet.

My shopping trip started out fairly normal (save for the totally unnecessary security guard eyeing me pick out cereal).
I was just taking a leisurely first lap through the aisles, minding my own business, when all of a sudden I came across the most amazing thing in the world.
That’s right, Amy’s Vegan Microwave Mac & Cheese dinners for only $ 1.99!!! (explanation points galore!)
«This must be a mistake,» I thought «Amy’s Mac & Cheese usually retails for almost $ 5… I MUST have them all.»
And with that, I hurriedly grabbed a basket and ran back to the freezer, fearing another stray vegan would catch on to the amazing deal.
I then attempted to act like a normal human being– calm and collected– while clearing the entire shelf into my basket.
I was also impressed with their beer section and varied vegan food options, as well as vegan-​friendly personal care items like deodorant and shampoo.
Cons:
This location doesn’t accept the Chinook Book coupon, which is fine since it’s only $ 3, but… shoot. C’mon!
I was tailed off and on by a young security guard throughout my time here.
I worked in retail long enough to realize he thought I was going to steal, which was insulting.
I only had a small purse with me, it’s not like I walked in with an empty half-​opened backpack slung over one shoulder…
Of course I’ll give this location another chance, but that security guard was really irritating.

I’m giving Grocery Outlet 5 stars for two main reasons:
1. My wife and I have never met kinder grocery-​store-​staff than we have here at Grocery Outlet. Everytime we go we tend to get helped by a young guy named Armond and he is always talkative, friendly, helpful– just a really really nice guy. Everytime my wife and I walk out of there we always say to each other, «Man that Armond dude is a nice guy!» Every member of the staff who has helped us has far surpassed the average grocery-​store-​clerk in terms of friendliness and customer service. I greatly applaud the staff, as well as the management for their hiring practices.
2. You SAVE A LOT OF MONEY by coming here. I mean a LOT! And that in itself deserves 5 stars because my wife and I can use all the money we can save. We will get an entire cart-​full of groceries here for about $ 100. That same cart would probably cost about $ 150 at WinCo and about $ 200+ at Fred Meyer or Safeway.
It’s a small grocer. They do not have everything but they surprisingly have a lot more than you’d expect. Some of the food can be hit or miss, but we’ve found many more hits than misses. I love Grocery Outlet’s off-​the-​beaten-​path location too. Really lessens the stress of grocery shopping when you do not have to deal with crowded, trafficy parking lots like the one at Fred Meyer on 82^nd and Johnson Creek.

Until today, my love affair with Grocery Outlet had been limited to the big one in Milwaukie and the crappy one in Hollywood District. I stumbled upon this location, which is awesome! It’s more of a market feel than a warehouse feel, spotless, well-​organized, and with all the super deals as the other GOs.
Among my favorite products I can readily find there are Amy’s Organics, Terra Chips, Cedar Lane Naturals, Muir Glen, and Kashi. They stock tons of the health food-​y type stuff that normally costs three times as much at any other store. Great wine selection, an enormous cheese selection (with many of the same ones Trader Joe’s gets, but for less), and ridiculous deals on toiletries and home stuff make this a no-​brainer.
I also scored Townshend’s kombucha for $ 2 today! That magic juice is normally about $ 5/​bottle, screamin’ deal.
I’d five star it if the produce was a bit better. Occasionally, there are good produce deals at GOs, but that’s pretty much the only section keeping this from a one-​stop shop. But I’m definitely not complaining, the other bargains at this chain make it worth the trip.
Oh, and I just found out the GOs nationwide donate a ton of food to local food banks. Rad!

I always like shopping at the Grocery Outlets — one can get many things at highly reduced prices, and sometimes they are unusual items not readily found elsewhere. Of course, they don’t have everything. They deal in over-​runs and surplus items, though they try to keep a reasonable selection of produce, cheese, lunchmeats, frozen and canned foods, etc. stocked. If you like something and its a bargain, then stock up on it — it may not be there next time you come.
Today I visited several Grocery Outlets. This one notably had a good deal on three kinds of cheese. I got two packages of sheep’s milk cheese, unfortunately they only gave me the dollar discount on one of the packages. Well, heck, there goes one star…
Otherwise, well, they had pretty much what they had at the other branches of this store in the Portland area.
