Green Lents Community Tool Library

One of the coolest little things in my neighborhood. My wife and I have gone to a couple of workshops where we learned to make our own baby whip solution and sunscreen, built a worm compost bin and a little free library that is now up in front of our house (and has helped us meet a lot of our neighbors). There is also a seed sharing program and a small DIY library. These folks are beutifying, educating and bringing my neighborhood together. Just a word to the wise: there are late fees that can stack up really quick but the money from the fees helps keep them open so I feel like it’s still a win even if I have to cough up a few bucks now and again because it goes back into the community. If a friend moves in close to our place, this will be making my short-​list of things they need to be checking out.

It is a great concept. the selection of tools is limited and does not include much in the way of heavy machinery (no gas powered post hole digger, chipper, blower, etc). Staffed by volunteers so you can bet they are political. you get a tool for about a week and they want fee’s after even though renewal is not always working well (would make more sense if renewal was a little easier or hours were a little better like a drop off hotline). I will try again down the road maybe see if they will take some tools I find at garage and estae sales.

This is an awesome tool library with the very best crew of volunteers. The space is huge and they have a lot of hand tools and garden tools available. You can check out their stock online before you head over to be sure they have what you need, as well.
