Gateway / NE 99th Ave Transit Center

Today I got on board the blue line train to travel a short distance and when the train stopped at 102 avenue the doors did not open and the train went to east 122 and avenue that’s not the stop I needed I called and filed a complaint all the lady «I’m sorry that happend that is so unexceptable I want that train operator fired for this Tri met does not care how they treat complaints

Gateway is not the most beautiful station out there. Mostly, there’s Fred Meyer and a few chains. But it provides something very valuable to lots of low-​income people. They can live out and yet take transit to a host of places in the valley in one convenient stop. This station is actually a rare example of government doing something for the people, not their donors.
You can get coffee provided by Stumptown. When I returned home from the airport, there was a bus.
There are people there that probably smoked something funny. There are some people that put on funny clothes. But in getting past that, the Green, Red and Blue Lines run here, allowing you to go to Clackamas, the Airport, Gresham, downtown, Beaverton and Hillsboro. With the trains running frequently, you won’t be seeing the druggies for long.

It’s a transit center. Buses and trains pick you up. You get to where you want to go and then back, again.

You can go to the Airport, Clakamas, Gresham, Center City and beyond to Beaverton/​Hillsboro from here; bus slots surround the station, going every which way too, (which is also a plus).
Interesting, to me, the area is not surrounded by apartment towers; it is a prime location with all this transit.
Regarding the people, maybe it’s because I’m from NYC; I’ve seen far worst than the few homeless that knock around by the Fred Meyers.
One negative I have, having missed the last Center City bound train 1am, taxis seem reluctant to come out here that time. Didn’t appreciate standing for 2 hours waiting on a cab from here to take me home.

The Wikipedia page for the Gateway/​NE 99^th Ave Transit Center provides the following description: «The station is next to the interchange of Interstate 84 and Interstate 205, and behind a Fred Meyer store.» Yup, that just about sums it up.
You kind of feel like you’re taking your life in your hands waiting for the MAX or bus at this stop. If the carbon monoxide produced by the freeway interchange and the busy street traffic doesn’t kill you, the wannabe slim shadies hanging around the area just might. «For gawd sakes, PULL UP YOUR PANTS» will likely be the thought running through your head every other minute. As well as, «Where the f**k is that train?»
This is clearly the chipped garnet in the Trimet Crown of Transit Centers. Avoid.
