Only been here once, but the food was preeeeeetty good! I got a ham and cheese on a pita(not as good as my favorite shop back east, but a good second), my fella got a gyro, both were delicious, and I’m looking forward to going again in the future. The people were nice also, and they have a ton of cool deli items to look at, lots of imported greek(go figure) stuff.

Best Gryo’s I have had in a long time. We have been into Gyros since we first had one on Greek Town Chicago about 40 yrs ago and we have been seeking them out ever since. This place is in the top 3(winner goes to a place in Paris). They do it a little different here. You can ask for feta cheese and they also use a little cayenne pepper. And it is served nice and hot. I also had the baklava and it was just ok. It was a little soggy on the bottom but great flavor. We will be back.

Oh Foti, how I do love thee! I have been going to Foti’s for 15 years now and it has never changed. The food is still delicious as ever! It’s nothing fancy. It’s a little Greek Store that has a deli. It reminds me of something you’d find in NY. They owners are there every time we go. The wife is just the nicest person ever! Foti is always in the back cooking away. It’s just adorable! I always get the Chicken Souvlaki sandwich with feta, it makes my mouth water just thinking about it! My husband changes it up quite a bit. He’ll either go with the traditional Gyro, or the lamb plate or their Calamari. All of it is fantastic! They also have the most delicious potatoes! I don’t know what they put on these things, but it’s like crack! They appear to be simple potato wedges, but no, they are seasoned with something delicious! You must get them with your food! Last, but not least to finish off your meal… get the Baklava!!! I personally think it’s the best. It oozes with honey, DELICIOUS!

It’s all Greek to me. My dad is Greek, so I grew up eating my yia-yia’s(grandma’s) food and consider Greek food to be comfort food. Foti’s is pretty legit. That’s a damn good gyro and I recommend getting it with feta. instead of light sprinkle of feta, it comes with solid blocks of feta. yum. i need to try the pasticio. If you;ve never had pasticio, you need to

The video games are back— and they brought reinforcements! All the talk recently in the forums as to who-makes-the-best gyro sandwiches created the irrepresible urge to re-visit the wonderful folks at Fotis, a favorite old haunt for many years. The owner-couple tell me they have had the place there on E. Burnside for 30 years now, and I started going there since ’84. Don’t know when they started using frozen meat strips, I can vividly recall the big, succulent spits w/lamb and beef. Maybe it’s tough to keep them clean enough for specs? Who knows, but they still make excellent kebabs, souvlakis, calamari, man, I can’t think of a sub-par meal ever eaten there! Thanks for all the good memory and cheer over the years, and heres to many more…

Foti’s is the kind of place that makes me realize just how much my husband loves me. Because the amount of funk one exudes through their breath after eating one of their gyros means whoever sticks around after you’ve ate one is devoted with a capital D. I’m normally a very kind, considerate person, especially to my husband. He deserves nothing less than my best. But these gyros will make you throw all such considerations and cares to the wind. They’re really that good. Their tzatziki is the tzatziki I had been searching my whole life for. And they don’t namby pamby around with pointless little feta sprinkles either. Fifty cents buys you some serious slabs of feta with a perfect dash of paprika on top. Plan on being stinky-breathed all day though. There’s is a menu that is larger than I was expecting, and for as many years as I’ve been coming to Foti’s I’ve done very, very little exploration of it. It’s kind of a trek out here for me from my house, and I just can’t shake my singular gyro-centric mindset for this place. I have tried the Greek fries and they’re quite tasty though. The homous too, OMG is it garlicky. It’s the kind of food that once you eat it, you’re socially unacceptable. Their homous is a different texture too than any of the Lebanese or Syrian varieties I’ve tried, it’s much thinner. This does not take anything away from its potency though!

I have been in a couple of times, usually stick with the gyros my favorite thing here, but my son will venture around the menu. The gyros come on a plate and you can build your own, it includes big chunks of feta and tomatoes and the best garlicky cucumber tzatziki sauce. I did try the calamari here one time and it was just way too greasy to finish the plate, but it was a huge plate. My son had the egg and gryo meat on a plate and it was floating in grease and after that he has stuck with the gyros. You can eat in the deli or take it to go. If you eat there, it is seat yourself and sort of old school, with some tables very wobbly. This is all good if you not looking to sit and hang out all day. Prices are reasonable. It is a good choice for some good Greek food.

I’ve gone here about 4 – 5 times and have enjoyed my experiences here so far. Great menu selection and friendly service brings me back here every time. Some of the things I really like to order are the Gyros, Greek Plate, and also their Greek Fries or basically Jo Jo’s but don’t call them that. The only gripe I have about this place is that they charge you for literally everything so be aware when ordering because they don’t tell you unless you ask. Other then that, everything is great here and I would almost say that their Gyro’s are better then the ones you get at the greek festival. Happy Eating Everyone

I’ve been on a gyro kick over the past few months… I was about to say that Foti’s has made it into the rotation… but really, I think Foti’s is what started it. Well, Foti’s or the beer festivals. Somehow, the waayyy overpriced gyros at the festivals always snag my money. It just goes so damn well with beer. And the beer-munchies. Foti’s gyros are totes tasty. The tzatziki packs some serious garlic. In fact, I ate one of these pockets of love right before serving at OBF. I was secretly hoping to get some awkward comments about breathing garlic, but I think everyone must of been too drunk. I am not a fan of feta so I will never add it. I have, however, seen friends add it. HELLO $ 6 worth of feta on a $ 6 gyro. Ok. That is an exaggeration. But they seriously hook it up. If cheese didn’t disgust me as it does, I would be all about that. Bottom line is that Foti’s makes a solid gyro. What they lack in ambiance, they make up for with garlic, grocery, and greatness! Aw yeah. Now just got to try the dolmas.

The weather was great, the sun was out so what better time to walk a few block to hit up Foti’s. I just so happened to get there during lunch time so there was a line. No worries, because it moved fairly quick. I went for the basic gyro and added the the feta and wow. The big, chunky feta was soo delicious. True to what other Unilocal’s suggested, it is super messy garlic-y goodness. Next time, I’ll definately ask them to go easy on the tziki sauce even though I loved it so. The mom and pop feel is just what I like in a place I want to support. I will be back. but I’ll get more napkins.

In the wise words of a certian Ms. Britney Spears, «Gimme, gimme more.» This place is awesome! I live nearby, but just today decided to check it out. The woman behind the counter was as sweet as sugar, and welcomed us immediately with a smile After drooling over all their options, I chose the traditional gyro. It took about 4 minutes to make, but while we waited we saw how awesome this store truly was. The sell everything you would want, a good selection of single micro’s, Viso!, ginger ale by the can, delicious and adorable looking cookies, and unique grocery items you would have a hard time finding any where else. The Gyro was amazing, amaaaaaaazing. Thank you Foti’s!!! UPDATE: The burgers RAWK X-CORE!(and the fries too)

This is one of my top 5 places to hit when I go to Portland. In fact, it was my fav when I lived there too. The gyros are the BEST I HAVEEVERHAD! The feta is perfect. The meat is perfect. Also, the greek salad is really fresh and delicious. The mousaka is very good. Only ordered it once since I can’t keep myself from eating the Gyros. The calamari plate is HUGE, for $ 9.00 it is big enough to split between 3 people as an appetizer. It comes with bread and some of the yummy sauce that is on the Gyro’s. The Greek Coffee sweetened is delicious! Like cocaine in a cup. THEBAKLAVA!!! One of the best things I have ever tasted! They have a market, where you can get almost all the Greek groceries too. Cookies, Coffee, Falafel mix, etc. All is fairly reasonably priced. I love LOVELOVE the woman who is ALWAYS working. The owner??? She is so pleasant! My top 5 fav places EVER!

This is one of my old time fav’s! I have benn going there for 16 years and their food always taste so good. This place has the best Gyros in town and they are affordable. They have great calamari and hummus. Along with having a restaurant they have a little Greek store and deli. They sell several different kinds of feta cheese and are always freindly. This is one of the few old time joints in Portland. It is owned and operated by a married couple that are amazing They are only open until 7:00pm so get in there before they close.

Yes, the woman behind the counter is the sweetest woman on earth. Yes, that is part of the reason that this place gets 4 stars. But there is much more as to why this place deserves sincere attention and love. Every time I go in there, I see the same familiar faces preparing my food. I like that consistency. This is a family business that I really feel great supporting. Every time I go in there, I order the same lamb/beer gyro, perhaps made with packaged little meat slices, but it still tastes good! I’ve been to other cities/countries where you get the meat shaven off the stick-thingy and yes that is superior, but I never said I expected it from every place I enjoy a gyro or doner kebab. And yes sometimes the taziki is a little wild on the garlic but it feels like its all done out of generosity. Sure, pile on those onions, have the sauce leaking out the bottom and dripping down my hands. I’d rather that than too little. At my last visit we(2 people) ate a filling lunch including 1 soda and 1 beer and the total was $ 16. That’s what I’m talking about. One can also find some great Mediterranean/eastern european grocery items including ajvar,(awesome red pepper relish). In summary, this place is a great option for a quick, flavorful and filling bite to eat on Burnside. HIghly recommended. Despite some purists complaints, I still think this is a great option. (*Note: Above it indicates that I order a «lamb/beer gyro». This is indeed a typo revealing an all to accurate«Freudian slip». Thought it was worth keeping. Ha.)

Since living briefly in Athens, I’ve always been craving the gyros that I could get easily from street vendors. Foti’s is the only place I’ve found outside of Greece that compares. Everything on the menu is authentic as I remember the standard fare to be, along with great prices. I like the fact that I can also pick up some Greek coffee and Aegean wine. But don’t just go for the gyros. They have excellent dolmades, moussaka, and pastitsio. Their service is always very friendly and quick. It’s definitely a place to be adventurous in choosing new foods.

Was driving by and began craving a gyro. So I stopped on in and ordered on. I ordered it with ½ the sauce they usually put on it and it made a worl of difference. Wasn’t as messy as last time. Tasted amazing. Giving this place 5 stars now because I don’t know what the hell I was thinking when I wrote my original review. These guys are nothing by awesome. Dirty floors or not. Who cares. Food is great.

First and foremost, this is a grocery store, that has an excellent deli counter. Keep this in mind if you’re looking for restaurant style ambiance, because you won’t find that here. It is more like a mom & pop mini mart in décor and set up. You order and pay at the counter, and the food is brought out to your table. Again, the tables are the same that you’d find in most mini mart type establishments. You fill your own drinks from the soda fountain next to the deli case. They have a large selection of imported products, which was fun to browse. They also carry Greek wine, which you don’t see often stateside. That being said, the food is ridiculously good. I had heard that this is where to go for great gyro’s and that is an understatement. I had tried Aybla for chicken gyro’s, but didn’t care for the dark meat they used. The sauce also needed more of a kick for my taste. I am so glad that I made the trip to NE to try Foti’s since I had a mad craving for some Greek food. The people that work there were also extremely nice, answering a few questions for me since I had never been there. The food is made to order, but it came out rather quickly in my opinion. The fries were piping hot, crispy, with the right amount of salt. The gyro itself had slices of marinated grilled chicken breast, tomato, lettuce, and white onion, along with tzatziki that rocked my world with it’s creamy, tangy, garlicky deliciousness. All of that wrapped up in a soft grilled pita. Yes, it was absolutely perfect. The only thing I would change would be to have red onion rather than white. OMFG! I need more soon! I need to try their hummus next time as well. I will try to avoid going before any UYE’s so I don’t assassinate everyone with my garlic breath.

A long-time standby lunch stop for me over the years, everything that comes off the grill at Foti’s is consistantly tasty and authentic, served by an extremely warm and friendly staff, the same faces we have seen for years. Great gyros, salads, kalamarakia — quite simply, everything is very good.

I honor of all you vegetarians out there: THISPLACEDOESNOTHAVEFALAFEL. I say this because I took a Pescatarian here, she was looking forward to some friend garbanzos. They have pre-fried falafel(hummus, the more you know!) but not falafel. Let’s cut to the point, I got a Gyro here for 6ish bucks. It was great. They didn’t scrimp on the sauce and the feta had some *BOOM* too it. Nice and stingy/stinky/pungent. Fresh tongue-stabby onions also contribute to this effect. You won’t be kissing anyone for a long time after eating here, but it’s a fair tradeoff as your taste buds have already been porked softly by grilled lamb flesh & feta.

I mean this in the greatest and nicest way when I say that Foti’s is like a minimart in Anytown, Euro-USA. You know, the ones in smallish towns and/or movies about smallish towns where the kids end up hanging out there all the time? It’s not completely out of left field or anything that I think that, but I mean, typically I don’t eat at minimarts or am more endeared to them than to anything else, and I find Foti’s COMPLETELY endearing So. You’ve got your deli counter with delicious and inexpensive Greek food. The gyro’s are great, the spanikopita’s okay, greek salad, greek fries. This. That. You know. Most of the things I’ve had are mighty fine. They also have a fine selection of hot/cold sandwiches, and you know, fried chicken for good measure. And there’s a cute little kitchen table-esque area for sitting and dining. Charming. Then there’s the little market section of the business that houses your beers and sodas in addition to giant tin jugs of olive oil, many European-style cookies, some exotic looking peanut snacks, and a few exciting sodas I’d never seen before(Happy Orange!) Put those together with the three video games by the door and the skaters who hang out outside and it’s suuuuch a euro-minimart. I need to get some quarters and some big league chew and post up.
