After hearing so much about Five Guys I finally got the chance to eat there. The food was good and lived up to the hype. The burgers were well prepared and served quickly. The service was adequate and the cashier was friendly. I didn’t really care for the set up, I thought it was a little uninviting and too open. It reminded my of a cafeteria. The sacks of potatoes were a nice tough. Overall a good place to g de ab a quick bite.

Best spot for food after a long night of binge drinking in the old port. They get herds of drunken people through that place quick, literally lines of people. They fill everyone up with cold drinks, hot fries and burgers that hit the spot. The burgers are great with bacon, cheese and the works.

I was so shocked by the treatment a friend and I received that I signed up for a Unilocal account just to write this review. We were there during their busy time and were told that we could not use their restroom because we hadn’t purchased food. I pointed out that our friends were in line getting food and the guy walked away. Assuming he had understood me, we went and used the bathroom. When we came back out to join our friends at the table, we were immediately accosted and told to leave the restaurant or they were going to call the police. I thought they surely must be kidding. I pointed out our friends sitting at a table with food, but the employees accused us of fighting with them and repeated their threat. We were so confused by the hostility, that we just left. I understand reserving your bathroom for customers only,(and thinking we were not customers) but when we explained the situation they should have backed down.

Five Guys is a fast-growing chain of fast food burger joints. Not great ambiance, but that’s not why you are there. They cook your food only after you place your order. Good quality burgers and excellent fries. The prices are higher than you would expect to pay for fast food. Still they are delicious burgers. You choose your own combo of fresh toppings. They also serve hot dogs, BLT’s and grilled cheese.

Absolutely awful… overcooked, well done, dry, flavorless beef. No meat should be served this well done, no rare option no return visit! Beef aside, five guys is disgusting… not clean and the staff cares more about changing their gloves than they do about the food.

Oh.My.Gosh. Holy giant burger. I have been to only 1 other Five Guys, in the Washington-Dulles Airport for breakfast and loved the deep fried bacon with egg on the burger roll. So this was my first time getting a burger and my hubs warned me that they were«big» so I ordered the bacon burger, lettuce, mayo, tomato and pickles… no fries. The regular burgers are two patties and I was a mess trying to bite in to my supersized burger. It was tasty, but I really like the fries that the hubs got. They weren’t greasy and didn’t have an overly fried taste to them. The staff was happy and cheerful for sure and seemed to be enjoying themselves which was nice. My personal favorite was the Peak Iced Tea station. I also liked how they used the stock potatoes and boxes of oil to make a «line» for ordering when you come in. It’s much nicer than being corraled with ropes!

So so so good. Just a good burger. Nothing fancy. Just the way it should be. Very messy and if you eat too much you might explode but still. Delicious

I think Five Guys is ok, but its not my favorite burger. Its good for a once every 5 – 6 month visit, but its not an every week or even month deal for me. I think their burgers are just too greasy(i know, most people think that’s kinda cool and required, but again, in very small doses IMO). However, I do really like their fresh cut fries and ability to grab a few peanuts while you’re waiting!

Five guys is exactly what you might think it is … it is a hamburger/cheeseburger(some other items on the menu also) joint that has some hand cut tasty fries that sit at the bottom of a brown paper bag. Now on the evening where myself and three other friends went, it was after a long night of pertying in the Old Port and it was a perfect end to the evening but at that time of the evening, anything taste amazing when it is greasy and will help with hangovers. The crowd was EXTREME on the night that we went and we actually waited for about 15 minutes for the burgers to be called up and we were able to squeeze into a packed house and scarf down these burgers. I cant judge the service here when there are like 200 people staring at you at once looking for their drunken fix. I know that I am in the minority with Five Guys but this one and the one over in South Portland near the mall are just okay for me … not the biggest fan but would take the kid to for a quick bite to eat.

We came in late, like 5 mins before closing, and the team behind the counter was super cool and accommodating despite being the end of the day. They get 5 stars for being so awesome. Thanks Erik, Austin, and Katie for feeding my team. We’re super grateful!

I’ve never been a huge fan of Five Guys, but with no In-N-Out around, it’s growing on me! While I’m still not keen on ordering that burger, their hot dogs and fries are great for cold winter nights in Portland. I usually end up here before/after grabbing gelato next next(that was on purpose) door, or wandering Old Port with a beverage or two. :X No matter the time of day or night, I’ve always had a great experience! They tend to play fun music and the employees definitely keep everyone entertained when the«overly happy» crowd starts coming in.

Incredible beef burgers. Free drink refills. Open kitchen so you can watch ur food be made! The place to go for a quality non-vegetarian meal. The fries are always plentiful in the cups they come in so don’t hesitate to order a small fry instead of a large cause they’re filling! A little pricey but very delicious.

I really like the atmosphere they have at both South Portland and the Bangor locations. Hot and fresh food. Who doesn’t love burgers? The fries are a little over salted, but you do get PLENTY! So portion sizes are not an issue with either the burger or the fries. The menu is pretty basic but the smells and prices are decent. Highly recommend to anyone who wants to try something new or try again. I’ve only had the burgers, so my next trip I’ll get the hot dogs or double the patties and live dangerous! Likes Prices Portions Freshness Dislikes Always busy when I go

Disappointed. The bun to my hot dog was gummy. And the fries were so salty we tossed our entire large order in the trash. Mind you, we were intoxicated and even so our drunkenness did not care for the food here. A wasted $ 15. I’ve been to other five guys and their fries were great. What gives?

I learned about Five Guys last year when our son ate there in Savannah before walking across the country. We saw the place in Savannah but didn’t eat there. Now, Portland, ME has a Five Guys and we tried the burgers/fries last night for the first time, following a movie at Nickelodeon. Great burgers; fresh(no frozen meat) burgers and fresh-cut fries. Juicy and tasty – I’m sure some 20-something bookstore employee that’s never cooked before, or some other hipster that marvels at mac and cheese going for $ 20+ at one of Portland’s foodie establishments will scoff at my thumbs up for Five Guys. However, I think the Old Port needed a place like Five Guys, a place where you can get a quality burger w/fries with a date and get out for $ 20 bucks. Don’t get me wrong, Portland’s got some wonderful places to eat. At the same time, some of the foodie hype has pushed things over the top. My wife and I were impressed and if not a jaded restaurant junkie, I think you’ll be, also.
