Fern Kitchen offers breakfast and lunch, Nossa Familia coffee, juices, smoothies, eggs, pork bowl, greens, organic veggies, lots of vegan options. Love it!

I was hoping for more from this place. My wife and I had breakfast burritos, which were less then impressive. They were expensive for very little egg with some potatoes and parsnips. In the end it just isn’t worth the price for simple food.

This place is the real deal! If you’ve been living in Portland for a few months or years, you know that we love our BRUNCH. Name any brunch spot on a typical weekend and I can gurantee you that they will always be packed. That’s how much we love going out for this perfect meal. This place caught my eyes a few weeks ago when I drove pass it. At first I thougth it was a brand new community center that they are just buidling, the first thing I saw was an ad for a Yoga space. I did some research and finally found them through Unilocal. To my suprised besides being a great brunch spot they are all about serving up healthy dishes oh and they have JUICEBAR!!! Don’t get me wrong, I love me a good brunch, but I do prefer to enjoy them without having to give up my hip or thigh in the process! LOL. I’m super stoke to find a place that offers you the alternatives that most places don’t(unless you really are just okay with settling with a salad, rememebr we are talking about epic Brunch here!). Besides that this place is gluten friendly too! So let’s get down with the food orders. I met up with 2 of my girlfriends here after a grueling work out, me and my friend got there early(you order up front and then they bring out your food) so we both orde the same thing. Eggs/Bacon/Root Veggies. The eggs were cooked and seasoned perfectly, bacon was crispy(the only way it should be!), but my favorite happend to be the root vegetable medley. I could have just eaten that all by itself and I would be satisfied. Then finally our friend got there and off course she ordered the buffalo burger. Buffalo what? I have to say my food was great, but when they brought her order up, I was jealous! That burger was huge and the salad on the side was complimenting it! I asked my friend after she devoured it, if the looks lived up to its taste and she said YES! Burger was perfectly cooked. So I made it a mission to come back here just for that(maybe after getting smashed after a brutal cardio work out! lol). I highly suggest you all give this place a try! It’s a small place, so they fill up pretty quickly but the service was prompt and friendly. We didn’t have to wait long to each get our meals. They are still pretty new so there’s still a coupel things here and there that needs some polishing, but they know what they are doing so I’m not too worreid about that. I am all about supporting LOCAL. So what are you waiting for? Get up and EAT!

I love this place! My local nearby healthy little café. I understand that to eat good food in this day and age, it’s expensive. But for the portions of food you get here, it’s far too expensive. My first visit I got the game kitchen sandwich, it was so small. Not worth the $ 8 I paid for a tiny English muffin sandwich. This is my second visit and I ordered the fried veggie bowl, worth it for $ 9 but could use more kale. I like this place but won’t be visiting often. Just another place contributing to the gentrification of Portland…

Not only is the food delicious, the staff phriendly, and the atmosphere warm, but the service is top notch. In this day in age of waiting way to long for food cart orders, its great to come to a place that provides prompt service regardless of how busy they are.(they are busy more often than not, but there always seems to be at least one spot open, which shows how much thought went into this operation) Its great to see ethically grown meat options available for us meat eaters.

I couldn’t be happier. Fern provides me with everything I need to get through the day, plus it’s right next to Yoga Union? Are you kidding? Juice, good food, wi-fi, close to home. I’m in. I have had breakfast there a few times, too. Yummy! I have yet to try the bullet-proof coffee and the steelhead burger — but they will be coming up soon. Thanks for coming to the neighborhood!

I love the concept of this place and the décor is perfect. You order at the front then go sit. We ordered and then waiting an extraordinarily long time while the two people behind us(who ordered a few minutes after us) got their food 10 minutes before us. Not quite sure how that worked seeing as we ordered the same exact dishes. The dishes themselves were fine, both the pork and polenta dish and the trout hash were both lacking a lot of seasoning and weren’t particularly filling. I’d come back and maybe try some of their smoothies or juices, but I’d probably pass on the food, since it was a very long wait for not a lot of food.

Really great menu — though perhaps too many delicious-sounding items to choose from. I usually order the avocado + feta toast, because it’s AMAZINGLY delicious. I love Fern because the vibe is wonderful. Adjacent to the Yoga Union, there are happy people all around me when I eat at Fern. The building is beautiful. This tiny restaurant is sweet. The juice menu is off the hook — and they offer frozen juice popsicles for my kids. Not frozen corn syrup, but frozen vegetable juice — how brilliant! My kids eat them, I have my avocado toast, and we’re very happy people. I highly recommend this neighborhood café.

I really wanted to like this place. I really did. It has a lot of promise and its hard to find good healthy breakfast food in Porkland. And I like the idea of a mom and pop place. I was not impressed though. From the atmosphere to the service to the food, I was disappointed from start to finish. Lets begin. I walked in and the air was so thick with a burnt smell that I almost left then and there. I should have. I found a nice table by a door and cracked it a bit so that I could get some fresh air. The owner immediately rushed over and asked if I was warm. I said, «No, it just smells really strongly in here.» He agreed and cracked a window for me. Ok. That was nice(and this attempt to help me feel more comfortable at my chosen table plays in later in the story). So I go to order. The owner doesnt know how to use the ipad ordering system. Fine. Whatever. We all struggle with technology sometimes. I had a long pleasant interaction with him and then before he was finished ringing me up, a group of his friends walk in. Then, suddenly I became totally invisible to him. He proceeded to completely ignore me and greet his friends and then, to add insult to injury, let them sit in my table by the window(the one my book was already at — the one that he KNEW I was sitting at because he helped me open the window!) So super rude!!! I said something to the other gal working and she just sorta shrugged. I then looked at the owner who also shrugged. «You’re not as important, sorry» he said with his actions. Pissed, I was still hoping the food would make up for the burnt smell and poor service. Nope! See pics. Try paying $ 7 for something you can easily make at home. I mean, I know is a simple dish… but at least assemble it for me and make it LOOK like its worth $ 7! Two pieces of dried toast and a few metal ramekins with not enough avocado for even one piece of toast.(This was the fancy sounding avocado, lemon, feta, sea salt toast.) The lemon wedge came on the side… as if it were an after thought. Now I know that these folks are not professional restauranteurs and that’s cute… but at least TRY to make things look nice and not just slapped together. The seasonal veggies were very good(the ONE positive to my terrible breakfast experience.) The coffee was mediocre and the walnut bread thing was stale and inedible. Maybe things will improve as they get off the ground. Until then I’ll take my money to a more professional establishment.

We came from Sacramento to the Grand Opening of the Breath Building/Yoga Union/Fern Kitchen, so we hung out for a couple days and had breakfast and lunch to try as many items off the amazing menu as we could. Everything we had was superb! Seriously, the best food we’ve had in a restaurant. The breakfast burrito was incredible — best we’ve ever had! The chef makes the sausage himself. We sampled the eggs Benedict with salmon and with ham — both delicious. The hollandaise sauce was scrumptious. I had the Wonder Woman juice — yummy and nice and fresh. For lunch we shared the water buffalo burger — so delicious and HUGE! The pickled veggie side is so good, I could have had a big helping of just that. The beet salad was delicious. The portions are very generous and each meal is very nicely presented. The staff and the atmosphere is very pleasant, relaxed and friendly. Love the community feel. If we lived in Portland we would definitely frequent this place.

FAN-tastic! Clean, delicious food in a cozy modern space. I had the steelhead burger, and I am smitten. Just, wow. It came with a cute little salad, which I could have used more of. The man had the water buffalo burger, which he was also super into. We shared the braised greens, which were perfectly done. We are so coming back for brunch. Shout out for offering gluten free buns from New Cascadia without an upcharge. It’s not like those lovely brioche buns are free, y’know? Another shout out for serving the full menu – breakfast & dinner – all day.

Great new place with a healthy farm to table vibe. It is new, clean and very comfortable. The staff was friendly and inviting. I had the Slow Roasted Carlton Farms Pork with Cheesy Polenta Cakes and Braised Greens with Salsa Verdi and a soft poached egg. Every single thing was cooked spot on and was seasoned perfectly. Both wholesome and flavorsome! I would highly recommend checking this new place out.

What a great find! SUPER friendly and wonderful staff. The vibe is great and lively. They have a great selection of vegetarian friendly options. Get your day started with one of their juices(I recommend the Superman) and feel great afterwards.

The location is prime for Richmond and Mount Tabor dwellers. The juices are fresh, healthful and tasty as were the meals we ate. Both of us had the salmon hash, made with a mix of roasted root vegetables – a nice variance form plain old spuds. The orders came out in a reasonable time and were accurate. The menu here seems appropriate for the sort of traffic one could expect. We noticed a lot of young people there toting yoga mats. It’s a well lit, convenient stop.

The food is Amazing! Family friendly atmosphere with a small basket of toys for littles to play and a high chair. Our food was served very quickly and was the highest quality. We had the eggs Benedict, tortilla soup, breakfast burrito, cauliflower salad, french toast, avocado and cheese toast, and the green juice. We loved it all! I have a 4, 5, 12, 13, and 16 year old and they all can’t wait to go back to eat again.

Cute, friendly place in a location that really needs it! Yummy little menu. Just opened so I am sure the kinks in the service will be worked out.
