This is one of those places with clothing that is definitely «cute for somebody else.» For me, it’s a little too heavy on the polyester.
I don’t like how the sizing works. The clothing IS organized by size, but instead of calling a 16 a «16,» and a 22 a «22,» a 16 is «Hot,» a 22 is «Divine.» There’s also «Fun,» and «Plush» but I can’t remember what they mean, which is exactly why I don’t like it! :) From rack to rack, I can’t remember what the words mean so they are, essentially, meaningless. They also have an «Ally» rack for people size 12 and under.
My sales person was awesome, and looked super sassy in clothes I would never wear.

Really disappointed in this shop. Portland needs a REAL plus sized vintage shop — not this fake you out crap. I came in excited for their special three-​day $ 1-​$ 3 bin and $ 5 rack sale (which was a total scam — unless, of course you’re into digging through a handful of dirty Cosby sweaters, old frayed odds and ends like book bags and 2 or 3 size 10 frilly clown blouses). Disappointed in the sales items, I moved on to the rest of their stock — which was overpriced for what it is. Very little actual vintage to be had here. A bit of local designer, brightly colored polyester (Divine would have been pleased.) I also think they are trying too hard to be all things to all people (they had a men’s section too, mostly old washed out T-​shirts and an «Allies section» where they stocked non-​plus sizes. Gimme a break — they get the rest of the FAWKING world — now, we gotta give those that can fit into regular retail sizing and sample sizes, space in our plus-​size shops. Twiggy — Puh-​leese! After going through the racks several times, I found a handful of things to try on – all current big box store castoffs. I chose two items to take home: a tank dress (used from Torrid) and a black T-​shirt (used from Lane Bryant) for close to $ 50! (I could have probably bought these items new on clearance from these stores had I spotted them in time.) I also nabbed two pairs of cheap new! $ 5 sunglasses (easily the best thing I purchased.) I got the stuff home and realized the dress was saturated in perfume (which I couldn’t tell when I was there with the myriad of smells in that store) but as soon as I was home and took it out of the bag, I was overwhelmed with the sickening sweet smell of this old perfume. It took me two machine washes, a rain wash, a vinegar soak and a sun drying to FINALLY get the majority of the perfume smell out (I never did get it all out). But after all that, I had grown to HATE the dress and the experience it represented. The t-​shirt, though cute, is itchy as hell (it has sequins and no batting on the back so it scratches up the skin on my stomach and chest.) Leaving me 0 for 2. I have donated the clothes and am sorely disappointed. I made the purchases because I wanted so much to like this store but it’s just awful. Mostly because the owners don’t care enough to really screen for good quality consignment or REAL GENUINE vintage pieces for their boutique. I would MUCH rather shop at Savvy Plus on Hawthorne, where they are careful about evaluating the clothes they take in. You won’t find much true vintage there either (they have just as much LB, Torrid and Old Navy as this joint) but at least all the clothes will be of good quality (nothing stained, frayed, stinky or stenching of perfume) and all for the same price Fat Fancy is selling for. I won’t be back.

Easily one of my favorite stores ever. I don’t make it downtown very often, but when I do, I always make a point to stop by Fat Fancy. Out of the dozen times I’ve been in, I think I’ve left empty handed maybe once! I often feel uncomfortable shopping in «straight sized» stores, but I have never been met with anything other than a warm and welcoming attitude here.
The prices are great, and I’ve found true vintage here mixed in with newer items. Plus, they have a pretty solid selection of belts, one of the things I can never ever find at «regular» stores! I can’t recommend them enough!

I recently went to Fat Fancy to get last minute costumes for a Wild west themed party. With Annie’s help, we were able to find the perfect outfits to wear for the night! Thank u Annie! Thank you Fat Fancy!

I’ve found some amazing pieces in this store, always reasonably priced. Annie was a tremendous help in putting together an outfit for me when I was supposed to go to a party dressed as a famous singer from the 60’s.
There are also some really great options for men, and I’ve found some beautiful shirts for my partner.
Recently, there was a misunderstanding about an item I had purchased. I spoke with Annie and she went out of her way to make it right. To me, that’s the mark of an outstanding business. I love supporting this place, especially when just about everything you find downtown is bland, Targetish, or not available in larger sizes.

I found this through Unilocal was visiting Portland. This was a fun store but was a little disappointed at the selection I found. I was hoping for more unique and vintage pieces, but what they had that day was not that amazing. The staff was excellent and helpful. as with any thrift store, it varies what is there. i would go back, but today was not my day.

Annie is the best! A super sweet, friendly and professional business owner! She is constantly greeting her customers by name and with such joy its impossible to be in a bad mood once you step inside!
Sizes are grouped together by how you might actually expect them to fit, with those charts around in case you forget! You can bring clothes in to sell or even trade — just make sure you call ahead to make sure a buyer is available!
Theres a good selection of items available, on both the feminine and masculine side of things. My girlfriend almost always walks out with something cute and new to her to wear, and I’ve definitely taken part in some delights for myself (great menswear and tie pins, etc.)
Annie is great at picking out things for folks to try on– stuff you might have been hesitant to select or try, that ends up fitting great or looking way better than you could have imagined! Be it an outfit or item for everyday wear or something for a special occasion you can find it at Fat Fancy. Its great to have a safe space for folks of all sizes (there does exist a rack for allies to the community) and gender expressions. You can often find fliers or posters for various size positive parties and events happening in the area! Like any vintage shop, every visit has a bit different variety but unlike many of the vintage shops the prices are extremely reasonable for the quality of the clothes making fashion accessible to everyone!

Fat Fancy is amazing! Annie who is one of the owners of the shop is the sweetest, kindest, most awesome person ever. Not only does she have a great eye for picking out items I might not have tried unless she pointed them out, but I know that she is genuinely invested in making every person who walks into her store feel comfortable, confident and empowered. They have lots of dresses, tops, skirts and shirts for femme ID folks, but also lots of butch/​male ID clothes as well, which my partner who usually has to sit and wait patiently for me is always happy to browse. Just in case she doesn’t feel like browsing, they do have some comfy couches (with a candy dish too!) to lounge on.
Fat Fancy not only has great clothing an awesome jewelry/​accessories case, but they also host fun body positive events and really support the community here in Portland. Shopping at Fat Fancy does the soul good, and the prices are extremely fair! Local artists are featured, the shop is locally and female owned and they are about much much more than just fashion. I can’t sing their praises enough. Fat Fancy Forever!

Fat Fancy ROCKS! I went there last week and it was one of the best shopping experiences I’ve had. The sales associate was so nice, and she went out of her way to help me find some great pieces in my size.
AND I got a really cute ASOS Curve skirt for around $ 15!
The atmosphere is great and super body positive! I’ll definitely be back.

Fat Fancy talks the talk and walks the walk. Body Posi zines, rare plus size vintage items, qt sunglasses&accessories! The woman working there (Annie I think?) was the sweetest girl ever. I will be returning + bringing my friends for sure.

I got a tip about Fat Fancy before heading down to Portland and I was totally excited to find vintage clothing that actually fits me!
Depending on where I shop, I can fit anywhere from a 12 (in some dresses) to a ¹⁶⁄₁₈ (for fitted items). I’m also 5’1 so a lot of the time anything that does fit, is too long. And I have made a rule for myself not to buy anything I have to alter. Because it’ll just sit in my «to alter» pile until the end of time. The worst part of this pile is that I went to Fashion Design school and am totally capable. Oh gawd.
Anyway, Fat Fancy. Yes. Found it pretty easily and the lady working was super nice and chatty and we talked about plus size fashion for a long time. My grad collection was plus size, and I work for a company that produces a full size range.
For my size there wasn’t actually too much that I was into, but I did manage to find a cool gold sweater, and a plaid dress that fits like it was made for me. I am so in love with this dress you don’t even know.
I was super stoked at all the even larger sizes they have. I probably would have bought a ton more if it weren’t for my «no altering» rule.
There are also tons of accessories and bags and whatnot. My size 6 friend found a laptop bag here! Haha. They sell some new and one of a kind items from (I think?) local designers. And some delightfully opinionated tote bags.
Fat Fancy is on my Must Visit list for whenever I am in Portland. :)

I have visited Fat Fancy 10 – 15 times over the past year, and have rarely left without buying something. Today I was fortunate enough to discover not one, not two, but FIVE dresses that fit me like a dream, and I realized that this glowing review is long overdue!
Let me start off by describing the store, which is conveniently located downtown near the new City Target. The clothing is divided by category and size, and loosely into mens and womens items, although it’s common to find shoppers perusing the whole store as it’s easy to disregard gender norms there. The clothing is very shoppable due to Fat Fancy’s unique method of sizing – items are broken down into size ranges rather than numbers, and the size categories have playful names such as «Fun» and «Hot». This is SO especially helpful when shopping for vintage clothing, since measurements and numbers have varied so greatly from decade to decade. As a consumer it makes it a delight to choose pieces, since the risk of choosing the «perfect thing» only to be disappointed later in the dressing room has been artfully minimized.
The purpose of the store is to provide a safe and welcoming environment for people of all sizes to find clothing that suits and flatters them, and the helpful staff supports and executes this mission beautifully. Even smaller girls in the 6 – 10 size range should check out this store as there are lovely pieces in the «Fat Ally» sizes.
Whether you are simply passing through Portland or have been here for ages, don’t pass up this local women-​owned gem. We are lucky to have them.

Their staff is super friendly and they are great in helping with style-​ideas or helping you find just the right thing to make your outfit sing.
Go visit, and take the time to pour through the racks and try things on.
I wound up finding awesome skirts, dresses and tops and none of it broke my piggy bank.

Fat Fancy is a unique boutique with outstanding costumer service and a very important mission. The people who work here are so kind and always make me feel like I am the most beautiful girl in the world. The clothes are priced well, and it is great that they feature local designers like Chubby Cartwheels. In a town full of pretentious vintage stores that only cater to small waists, Fat Fancy is a much needed place.
My only critique of the store is that they do not change over merchandise often enough. I have gone in a few times in the past six months only to be looking at the same things. But this isn’t a reason not to go. One of the most impressive things about the store is that they donate leftover clothing to SMYRC and other minority resource centers.
I would recommend Fat Fancy to anyone – large or small.

I am a fan of anyone who offers stylish digs to someone that is NOT a stick figure. I usually don’t like people to help me shop but the lady was very nice and picked out a dress I would SOOO not have thought to buy. She was very patient with me as their sizing chart is by range. Ranges of the 1950s is not the range of 2000s let me tell ya! They were all B cups back then BUT I did find a locally made item which is rad. KUDOS to this store and what they are trying to do! Keep it up.

On a recent trip down to Portland to visit my son and his adopted father my best friend and I stopped in here. Now we are both what one would happily call plus size. I love that Portland offers a couple of these small plus size consignment stores for us as it is not common.
The staff at this place are really nice and helpful. They are quick to set up a fitting room, offer opinions when asked, and suggest items you might like they saw come in. The selection is hit or miss like most shops of this type, but there is a lot to pick from. A lot of items tend to be on a more vintage side. I felt the prices were pretty fair as well.
I managed to pick up two skirts and a dress for $ 36 which seemed like a sweet deal. The items are all clean, in good condition, and they sort racks by clearly labeled signs so it is easy to browse only what fits your general size. I like the fun names they use for the size sections like plush, hot, fun, ect. These represent size ranges.
Overall I would go back again. I think if I lived in Portland I would go in weekly just to check out the new stuff they get in. The neighborhood the store is in is also cute with more fun shops I wish I had had time to explore.

I came. I saw. I shopped! I may have to gush about this place a little bit. This is the first time I’ve been here (found on good ol’
). More than once I have thought…“Man, I sure wish there was a shop with plus-​sized women’s vintage clothing.” Well, folks, there is! And they were even kind enough to direct me to their friends over at Savvy Plus that carries similar stuff! I found out about this place Monday, and I vowed that Friday would be the day that I would hop off the MAX and check this place out. They’ve only been at this location about a year, but even while I was there they had a loyal customer who followed them from their old location to the new. That has to say something, right?!
I was greeted with a smile and was a little concerned that the place was EMP-​TY of patrons when I came in. But I got great customer service, and was directed to the different clothing sections, the sizing system, and even happily (not begrudgingly) directed towards the bargain bins and sale rack (which I happily made use of). Now, not ALL of the clothes are vintage, but even if it’s not it hearkens to the old styles or helps you make a modern twist on the oldies but goodies. I tried on several items, getting second opinions from the lovely Carlee. Who even helped me find a bright blue skirt that makes my butt look AMAZING for only $ 14.
I was also surprised to find that Fat Fancy also caters to Men’s clothing and shoe needs as well. So you can even find something for that fashion savvy man in your world. I had all my questions answered, and ultimately left with a bag full of good stuff for only $ 33. And on top of that I made a new friend and get to feel good about myself for supporting a small local business. I’m sorry about anyone who had a bad experience here, because I know first impressions are everything and mine was good, good, good. I beg you to give them another chance. Grab your girlfriends (whatever shape and size they may be), have a couple glasses of wine, and stop by here for good bargains.
Oh, and just wanted to quickly mention that even if you’re not a full-​figured Ms. Hottiepants, they have a rack for the 12 and under sized cuties, and plenty of great bags, scarves, jewelry and other goodies. Can’t we all just shop along? Um… err…well you know what I mean.

Recently written up in Bitch Magazine, Fat Fancy is settling in and becoming known as a go-​to spot for resale vintage clothes, for size 12 and up. While primarily plus sized, they also have some stuff smaller and tons of fun accessories– shoes, purses, jewelry, belts, and scarves.
It’s a nice shop, well-​organized, with really enthusiastic staff who were eager to chat. Awesome tunes, as well. It feels like they are still getting situated to some extent and I’ll definitely check back in the future. Prices may have been just a touch more than I would have expected for the state some of the clothes were in. But hey, that’s no shocker for the world of resale.
