In a word: Awesome. The oysters here couldn’t be any fresher. Fresh harvested from local waters, they are a feast for the taste buds, like eating the ocean itself. Also try the fried oyster buns(pictured) which were absolutely heavenly. I think it is better to go for lunch, as it’s a somewhat informal place. On a nice day it’s great to eat outside. There’s very little to dislike here… it’s truly a wonderful eating experience.

Loved the crab and lobster rolls. Went during brunch time and found a table outside super quick! The spiked tea was amazing.

The hype about the lobster roll is real. Just get it. My only complaint is that it isn’t larger. I got a variety of Maine oysters and all were deliciously salty. The horseradish ice was a nice surprise as well. Great drinks and beer selection. Definitely a must if you’re in the area!

I hesitate to point out particular highlights from our dinner Friday because literally everything was great. I thought it was worth noting though that the batter on the fried Hake was perhaps the lightest, crispiest batter we have ever had on a fried fish. We also loved the curry in the lobster stew, the«Kim Chee ice» that accompanied the oysters which we just ate plain with a spoon and the pork dish with the soft egg was just ridiculous(probably the table favorite). The wine by the glass list had some varietals I don’t always see, including a nice Spanish white that our waitress recommended in lieu of a Sauv Blanc or Pinot Grigio that we enjoyed very much. We were too full for dessert but ordered a homemade chipwich for the table that everyone loved. Also loved the furniture and décor inside. Note: Being willing to eat oursid can reduce the wait time. Prices are quite reasonable for each dish although be careful — they all look great and it’s easy to over order!(But worth it)

You will spend a lot of money for tiny portions of food. We got lobster rolls and fried oysters. The dish was maybe 5 fried oysters that could fit in the palm of my hand. The food came out lukewarm. Our server did not check on us while we were eating. We were all still hungry after and went back to the Old Port Festival and got a lobster roll at a stand for $ 10. Don’t believe all the hype like I did — it’s basically overpriced seafood tapas in a dysfunctional seating arrangement.

Being a NY foodie person, this place was excellent. From appetizer all the way thru to the dessert. We had the yellowtail crudo, which is to die for along with lobster roll and home made cookie ice cream sandwich. Oh and let’s not forget the raw oysters! Yum, yum! The portions are small with the exception of the dessert and it is a little pricey, but really good food. The ambiance was great as well. Loved this place and would come back here again. Be aware it’s not a big restaurant and there’s a waiting time.

Couldn’t resist stopping in when I read something about brown butter lobster roll(yes please!) ordered a dozen oysters to accompany washed down with the Marshall Wharf Deep Purple. Btw if you like loaded baked potato soup you’ll love this beer… It’s safe to say there is nothing like this back in Miami

This place is oozing with oysters, crab claws and some of the most delicious lobster rolls you’ll eat in Maine. In addition to the wide variety of delectable seafood, they provide a breadth of beer options, sure to appease even the most picky IPA connoisseur. While the lobster roll is slightly unconventional, boasting a rich browned butter sauce, as opposed to the traditional mayonnaise based sauce; the butter mixture is the perfect complement to the delicate fluffy bun. In addition to the delectable seafood offered, Eventide has a variety of non-seafood plates which are equally as tasty.

Despite having to endure a bit of a wait(what else did we expect on a busy Saturday night?) we were seated fairly promptly and quickly ordered. I am NOT a seafood fan typically – salmon is about as adventurous as I’ll get, and I think that’s only because it’s so fatty and meatty. That being said, however, I knew that while I was in Maine, I needed to say I’d had a lobster roll. While I didn’t try them, my friends ordered oysters and loved them. They got a number of different ices to go with their selection. My lobster roll was PERFECTION, and that’s saying something when it comes from someone who doesn’t do seafood. If lobster wasn’t so pricy(the small-sized roll was $ 12), I would have easily ordered another. The only thing that I didn’t love was that many of the tables were high-tops along a wall, making it a bit more difficult to have discussions with your group if seating at one.

Ridiculously good! Hands down, Eventide Oyster Company has the BEST lobster roll & fish sandwich in Maine. I’ll be dreaming about the brown butter lobster roll for a really long time. It was pretty fantastic. I’m not a fan of deconstructed food in general, but this was an exception. The roll is served warm, like a bao and is oozing with butter — the bread is soft and has a melt-in-your-mouth texture & the lobster is just the icing on this very, very delicious roll. The fish sandwich(fried skate) gave it some pretty tough competition. #Getit PROTIP: I would recommend Eventide for a late lunch — think 2 pm or later as the place gets pretty packed as they don’t take reservations.

Small restaurant with limited seating and limited menu… Most items are appetizer sized so you need to order two or three items if you are hungry. Lobster stew was very salty and so was the fish sandwich. Stew had very little lobster meat and very little substance, a couple of mushrooms and bits of potato and carrot, NOT a harty offering considering the price — 14 dollars… Fine if you like it salty or over fried … MacDonalds has a better fish filet But some folks love this place if only for the overpriced oysters

It was 5:10 p.m. on a Saturday and this place was already packed. Memorial Day Weekend will do that to any good restaurant, I guess. Food: The raw oysters were so good, we wanted to order more, but resisted the temptation to do so in the hope that all of the other items we ordered would be just as impressive. The soup was amazing, but the lobster roll, crab roll, and fried oysters were merely acceptable. We were glad that we had something sweet at the sister restaurant next door, Honey Paw. To drink, we had the ginger drink and bunker beer. Both are highly recommended. Service: the server was as responsive as she could be, but it was just too busy. I like the text message that is sent before your table is ready so you can just walk around and back without being afraid of losing your spot. Décor: chair were placed too close together at the bar/dining table wrapped around the restaurant. Definitely uncomfortable enough to lose one star.

Wow. If you’re in the area, this place is a must! Totally worth the wait and it went faster than the time we were told. We got oysters, brown butter lobster roll, baked lobster tail, and a side of potato chips. Everything was delicious and savory. If you’re in the area, definitely worth the stop!

The way to take my money in any restaurant is by having a long list of seafood. preferably raw. I read about this place from somewhere and it was on my list of places to try while in Portland, ME. Since it was our first time here, our server was really friendly and gave us a quick lowdown of how things work there. She suggested that if we wanted to share the oysters that we order 6 and she will bring out two of each so we can try them both. We agreed but we let our server choose the 6 for us. Oysters we got to try were winter point, browne point, wild dam, norumbega, north haven, and johns river. They were all pretty small but good. Unfortunately its been a few days since I was able to write this review so I can’t exactly remember which one I liked best, which was too salty, and which was sweet. The accoutrements were pretty awesome though. He got the horseradish ice and I got the thai chili ice. Accoutrements are what would normally be your side of horseradish, tabasco sauce, cocktail sauce but instead its in the form of tiny finely crushed ice. I think that was a good description of it, haha. Best idea ever! We also ordered brussel sprouts. It was good but it still was a bit too bitter for me. It seems like they just flash fried the brussel sprouts, threw it on top of a white creamy sauce and topped it off with parmesan. It was good and flavorful but some parts were a bit saltier. Last thing we had was the Tuna Crudo. I thought it was good. they topped the fresh fish with a scallion ginger sauce which was good but the scallion was a little too much. We eventually just ate the crudo by itself. I would definitely come back for the oysters. We really wanted to try the salmon tartare special but they ran out of it already. Great little place.

I really want to love this place and I can see why people do, but I just personally can’t justify it all. The décor is really cute; clean, plenty of natural lighting, and spacious. We stopped by for a Sunday lunch at around noon and the wait was only 20 or so minutes so that’s always a plus. I think I would have a different opinion if I was able to try the oysters but they only serve them by the half dozen or dozen and since there were only 2 of us, one of whom didn’t eat raw food, I was not about to eat half a dozen oysters by myself. My grudge with this place is the tiny portions. The food was great and unique. I ordered the brown butter lobster roll and my mom ordered the warm lobster curry stew. The stew came in a small little bowl and the lobster roll was very miniature-sized. But the prices were on par with full entrees, around $ 15 – 20 per dish. I think I’d still come back here to give it another shot if I’m in the area. Maybe the oysters alone are worth the trip. Or maybe other items on the menu were a better value. Either way, we left feeling hungry still and had to stop by another place for a snack afterwards.

Great oysters, very nice lobster roll(on the smaller size but is very fulfilling), good selection of appetizers — I loved the crudo Maine yellowtail. Also available were all sorts of drink concoctions for your taste. I was happy with my Maine root beer. Definitely worth checking out when you’re in the East Bayside area!

I had a great time at Eventide over my birthday weekend. It was a Saturday night and we waited about 15 minutes for a table, which was shorter than the quoted 30 minutes. We started off with some Maine oysters, then sort of went down the menu over the course of a few hours. We did not feel rushed at all, and our service was friendly, if a little sluggish. My guy is not the hugest seafood fan, but he really liked the scallops, which had a Chinese flair. My favorite dish was probably the yellowtail with matcha sauce, which was a daily special, if I recall correctly. Definitely worth a visit when in Portland.

We came early and were able to snag the last two bar stools in the window without waiting. Not the most comfy seats, but mostly the whole place is stools so you need to expect that going in. We came here during our trip to Portland two years ago and knew that we had to return again this time for the brown buttered lobster rolls. We each got our own and they were even better than we remembered. They are not your traditional lobster rolls, but they are oh so good. Served on steamed buns, the lobster meat is chopped up and hot in a brown butter sauce. They are small, but very rich and decadent. We also split the fish sandwich– I didn’t know a fish sandwich could be this good! It was breaded hake with crunchy lettuce, Pickled cucumbers and sauce on a seeded soft bun. I was moaning. Finally we also had the greens. I wasn’t expecting much for $ 7 but this was a huge salad! Perfect for sharing with a unique nori vinaigrette and pickled vegetables. Everything we had was top notch. I’d recommend this place to anyone.

There are so many great reviews for this place I feel like I am just here for their support! Oysters are amazing per usual and the fried oyster roll on the sticky bun is to DIEFOR! Please get that. Or you are missing out on life. Maybe not but it’s really that good. The place is extremely small so make sure you have some comfy shoes to wait around in.

Went here for a lunch on a Saturday at about 1215pm and had to wait 20mins to be seated. We got a dozen oysters with the red wine mignonette and the pickled red onion ice(yum). One of the appetizer specials was a Torta de espana with chorizo, razor clams and a romesco sauce. It was more like a pâté than an actual torta(sandwich) but I really liked it. We also had the crispy fried brussels which were great as well — nice char to them and the hazelnut tonnato that sat under it was good. My mom had the brown butter lobster roll after reading the reviews and she liked how fragrant it was because of the butter and that the roll was something special, and not your traditional bread. Thumbs down for the portion of lobster meat — it was tiny. Good casual place to hang for a quick meal — I would say the appetizers trumped the oysters.
