I traveled from Tulsa, OK to get my first tattoo done by Cecil Porter. Couldn’t have made a better decision. Everywhere I go people can’t help but stare and ask where I got my tattoo. I’ve heard everything from, «It looks so real» «He got that right» «He did an amazing job» to «You didn’t get that done in state, did you?» I love my tattoo so much and would recommend him to anyone and everyone wanting realism. Not to mention I got to watch movies the whole time =)

Hard to find a better tattoo artist in the US, let alone Oregon. If you know about color realism tattoos, then you should know Cecil Porter. Oh by the way, he is a crazy amazing print artist as well, watercolors, acrylics, digital, etc.

Ashley will get you booked without hassle, and Cecil’s work is second to none, especially his color palette

Flew up from Las Vegas. Cecil and Ashley treated me with much respect. Great atmosphere friendly and quality of art work top notch. Had a lot of fun and I feel I have the best tattoo of all. He seemed to learn what I like and rolled with it. I will be coming back to have more body art from Cecil. You should make an appointment now as he is booked months out.

YES! I came back, 5 times this year and well worth the trip each and every time.
I live in the Sacramento valley but when I want a great tattoo I make the trip to Portland.
Road trip is nice but for a quick get away its an easy and short one hour flight. Plus Cecil’s studio is only 15 minutes from the airport with plenty of available hotels, food, stores & entertainment in that area of town! This last piece Cecil did for me is OVER THE TOP!!! Its amazing and what is really great with his light hand my tattoo has completely healed in 6 days!!! No trouble at all and it just looks fantastic! Cecil and Ashley treat me very good every time and even though I am kind of a pain with my back problems they do whatever it takes to make sure I sit comfortable. Emporium 1476 is private, comfortable and the BEST there is on the west coast anywhere! If you want a tattoo DO NOT SETTLE for an ok piece get the best money can buy. NO REGRETS. I love my art from Cecil. Thanks again buddy!

Cecil Porter did a tattoo on my forearm May, 2, 2013 and it is amazing. I have literally gotten 100’s of compliments on it from friends, family and complete strangers. Cecil is not only an outstanding artist; he is a professional who understands customers and customer service. Southern California suffered a real loss when he moved to Portland, but all you ink lovers in the Great North West have scored big-​time!

I was trying to find a way to get down and see Cecil in Southern California and it just wasn’t happening. When I found out that he was opening the Portland studio, I jumped at the chance and was able to get on his calendar. Hopefully I’ll have a constantly rotating appointment in there because once you get work from Cecil, you really won’t want to go to anyone else. He is focused, personable, entertaining, and most of all an immensely talented, exquisite artist.
Honestly can’t say much more than all of the other 5 stars before me. What is being said about him and Ashley is true. They are great hosts and it was an honor to be tattooed by him. Can’t wait until my next appointment.

My wife and I have been getting tattooed by Cecil for a while now and we couldn’t be happier with his work. Not only is he a great artist but he is professional and he is really easy to get tattooed by. This is why we don’t get tattooed by anyone else. He is consistent and you always walk away with a great piece.

I had the single best tattoo experience of my life at Emporium 1476 yesterday. Cecil Porter is a consummate professional and an awesome guy, and his fiancé that runs the studio with him, Ashley, is a true sweetheart. He spent hours designing and tweaking the piece, paying utmost attention to every detail even before tattooing.
When he started tattooing, he moved at a very quick pace while maintaining remarkable precision, and taking no breaks, he created a piece that absolutely blew me away. It is a truly remarkable, world-​class tattoo.
Getting an appt with Cecil won’t happen right away, and while his hourly rates are not on the low end of Northwest rates, there is something very important to consider: Getting tattooed by Cecil will ultimately be significantly cheaper (maybe even half the price) of getting tattooed by a comparable world-​class artist because of the remarkable speed at which he works. I literally feel like my Sin City tattoo was a tremendous bargain; for what I paid vs. what I got, I almost felt bad!
Cecil’s work ethic and talent were inspiring to witness.
Bottom Line: Save your money up, Set your appt., be patient, get a great deal on a world class tattoo by a world-​class guy!

I have had the immense privilege to be tattooed by Cecil many times over the past 5 years, and along the way not only have i received the most beautiful tattoos but i have also had the pleasure of Cecil and his awesome fiancé’s company.
When i met Cecil i was a tattoo virgin. I always knew i wanted tattoos but it took me years to find the right artist to do them. Then one fateful day i stumbled upon Cecil’s portfolio and instantly fell in love with his work, so many colors and so many beautifully realistic pieces, i HAD to try and get an appointment with him; which i did and that is where my tattoo life began!
My first tattoo was such a good experience, and although it took me about a year to save up to finish it, it was SO worth it! now Cecil and i have been collaborating on my Star Wars sleeve for the past few years and it is coming along so beautifully, i cant wait to come visit his new shop and get more done!
Cecil absolutely never disappoints. He has such a wonderful eye for colors and placement! even when given a picture that has few colors in it, he has this amazing way of adding color to make that picture look even better on your skin! he has a nice light hand and is so good about letting you take a break if you need one.
even though my sleeve is unfinished i am constantly being complimented on it or asked if people can take pictures of it! Cecil is a hard worker who really loves what he does-​although he doesn’t just tattoo! he paints as well!
if you’re serious about having a gorgeous photo realistic piece i highly suggest Cecil Porter-​but don’t forget-​someone this good has his appointments fill up FAST! call, email, whatever your pleasure just get an appointment! you will not be disappointed! i seriously can not say enough about this man’s talent!

Cecil is an amazing tattoo artist. I only have one piece from him so far and I can’t wait to get more. He designed an Elvira/​Evil Dead mash up for me and totally knocked it out of the ball park. I always get compliments on my tattoo and I know others who’ve been tattooed by him that can say the same thing.
Getting work from Cecil is the best tattoo experience I’ve had. He and his lovely fiancé are extremely accommodating and friendly. I love that he does tattoos by appointment only because it’s a lot more quite and comfortable. Another great thing about having an expert like Cecil working on you, is that he’s fast, but the tattoos come out amazing. If you’re lucky to get an appointment with him, you will not be disappointed with his outstanding art and work ethic!

I had the pleasure of having 2 tattoos done by Cecil Porter in August. I will be returning after I restock my tattoo fund & have a chance to get away from work. That said, here is what you should know, if you’re thinking about getting tattooed by Cecil.
You will not be able to walk in and get tattooed the same day. Cecil’s work is amazing and you’ll wait months. I waited 8 months, and it was worth every day I waited. You might luck out that he just relocated and not have to wait as long, but his books will fill up fast. If you have the money, contact him asap.
Cecil is completely professional and is all about the quality of the art he creates. If you get the chance to be tattooed by Cecil, you’ll love this about him. He will not take 15 minute breaks every hour, stop the tattoo to start talking to a friend or on the phone, and he’s not drinking alcohol, smoking, or using drugs. All of his attention is on the tattoo he is placing on your flesh forever, exactly how it should be.
Another thing, Cecil is completely down to earth and doesn’t have the rockstar ego that other top tattoo artists have. He’s all about his work and not about the fame side of the tattoo industry. Cecil and his Fiancé Ashley will make you feel completely comfortable, and make sure your sugar stays up by offering drinks and getting you food for long sessions. Still come prepared for your tattoo session, but it’s available (at least it was in SoCal).
My first appointment day I arrived at 10 am and I was there until 3 am, with 13 hours of it being needle time (Ganesha). Cecil is a tank and will keep going until the tattoo is finished or you tap out. I believe we went 3 hours until the first break, and that’s because I needed to use the restroom. The second day my session was a quick 5 hours of needle time (Owl), but I had to ask for a few more breaks since I was still exhausted from the tattoo session the day before.
I traveled 5 ½ hours, 1 way, for my back to back appointments with Cecil in Murrieta, CA and I will gladly travel the 14+ hours, 1 way, to get to Portland for another appointment or two.
I really do not have to say much about the art he creates, just look at it, it speaks for itself. The only reason you might not want to be tattooed by Cecil, is if you have an issue with people stopping you and asking about your amazing tattoo. You’re spouse might get a little jealous with hotties wanting to check out your amazing tattoos. I had shoulder surgery 2 ½ weeks ago and as I’m laying there in the operating room almost naked the surgery staff were admiring Cecil’s work. They promised not to mess up my tattoo (& didn’t) and said it was the best tattoo’s they’d ever seen.
Another thing, don’t forget to bring a 4 pack of Redbull for Cecil, it’s what fuels him.
