Elite Event: Game On @ Union/Pine

base camp beer, 2 plus one’s, pizza, and cards against humanity… winner, winner.
last week I had the joy of bringing two of my non-​elite friends to a Unilocal event –that was super nice! I often get asked what the events are like, and what it takes to become a Unilocal Elite, but bringing my friends to an event first hand was just what they needed to get their reviews going.
although I wasn’t drinking that night I was happy to have a few sips of what my girlfriends were drinking and the cocktails were delicious and there was plenty of pizza and candy to go around. happy happy me!

Such a good time. Loved the cards against humanity. Gives me some ideas for a family reunion. Thanks for the yummy drinks, candy, and there’s always room for pizza.
However the thing that made the party was the Unilocalers. I wouldn’t normally go to a party where I know so little but Unilocalers are always so friendly and engaging. Every event I go to, my guests and I feel right at home.

What fun! We should do that Cards Against Humanity thing at every event! The Bourbon Trace drinks were excellent. Very, very excellent. I missed out on pizza somehow but I was so busy chatting it up with everyone, I honestly was never even aware it was around… I see now there were a bajillion empty boxes by the end, so my only excuse is that I was too g-​d excited, as usual.
LOVE Union/​Pine as always, and it was fun being back there two years after our last bash. Fun crowd, fun music, great company. Thank you to U/​P, Matt E, the Donfather, and fabulous sponsors and bartenders who kept the liquid magic going. Great job hula hoopers, too. I can’t hula to save my life, so I bow down to the contest winner (and sweet prize pack!).

What a fun time! I love those days where I can simply play games to pass the time. Union/​Pine is a great space for such an event. You had ping pong (which I wasn’t too shabby at), Twister for the adventurous, Uno, Operation, Jenga, and actual hula hoops! My +1 and I were #upforwhatever and tried to play every game while meeting new faces.
Thanks Matt E. for sugaring us up with sweets in the candy aisle and fattening us up with pizza and beer. Delightful. The only unfortunate thing was when my +1 and I arrived, we were told to pick a card from the Cards Against Humanity bowl, but we weren’t told why and what the purpose of having a card was for. So we were hanging out by ourselves until another Elite approached us asking to look at our cards. I managed to get a picture in with a +1 guest which was great though!
Overall, a super fun event on a weekday evening :)

I came, I saw, I hula hooped. This was a blast — my favorite Elite event yet, but more importantly, all the little things were perfect. Union/​Pine is a perfect event space (working on getting my employer to party there, too, now), DJ NyrdCore spun a delicious mix of music, spurring my hips — which can’t lie — to boogie and sway.
And, wow, that was some tasty Buffalo Trace bourbon and lemonade. Plus, I took my Father In-​Law, and anyone who has one of those knows how hard it can be to please them… but he left happy, full, and slightly tipsy! Well done all around. Big ups and thanks to Matt and all involved!

I LOVED the Cards Against Humanity touch. At check-​in, Elites grabbed a black card, +1s grabbed a white card. It was a great icebreaker to meet people that you usually don’t talk to. I adore my Elite friends but there are a lot of times where I wish I’d mingle more with new people. Congrats to whoever won– I missed the announcement. What was the caption?
The hula hoop contest was so fun to watch too!
Union/​Pine is a great space. Very spacious, clean, and modern. Thanks to Matt, DJ NyrdCore, Pizzicato Pizza, Buffalo Trace, Base Camp, and Union/​Pine for a lovely evening!

This was my first Elite event and it was a great time! The building was easy to find, the sign-​in greeters were friendly and helpful and the drinks were awesome. I love bourbon and anything ginger, so the gentlemen’s press was my favorite. Thanks Buffalo Trace!
I snacked on some sugary treats from the candy buffet and had fun meeting some new people during the cards against humanity game. The DJ was good — he made me feel like it was a Friday night and time to party. Hence why I had no issue entering the hula hoop contest.
My +1 friend won a killer prize pack full of giant beers (love the unique bottle labeling designs) and a growler from Base Camp Brewing, which she was generous enough to share with me.
The space is definitely cool and I’ve been been here in the past for another event. Sound carries very easily in here, so changing rooms to chat helped me hear conversation a bit better. I also had to bend just a bit to look the servers in the eye behind the bar, but it’s probably because I’m like 20 feet tall.
Everyone was awesome to talk with and very friendly. Definitely a big thank you to Matt, Don, Union Pine for the invite, the servers and the DJ. Fun times!

Game night on a Tuesday?! Well hell it turned out to be a blast. This cards against humanity thing is a super fun way to break the ice, not that some of the Unilocal crew needs help in that department. The idea of white cards on +1’s and elites with black cards was the perfect way to keep conversations going and all these lovely people mingling. So good to meet so many new elites and +1s.
Buffalo trace and Base camp brewing kept the juices flowing so you know we had mad skills at games that need your full attention like Jenga, Operation, or even hula hooping. Haha. This was the time to be a big kid with games, pizza, candy, and beer! Even the DJ was mixing in some olé skool.
Union/​Pine is such a nice space and I have enjoyed each event I have attended at this place. Thanks Matt, the staff at Union/​Pine, DJ, the bartenders and my fellow Unilocal folks for a great party.

Yet another fun filled, alcohol infused event that we got to see the regulars and quite a few new faces. You want to mingle? Cards Against Humanity helped with that. Base camp Brewing and Buffalo Trace livened things up and Pizzacato Pizza and Halloween candy that Matt picked up at Wallyworld kept us full.
Union Pine has a nice space but the acoustics were hard for the microphone. Ping pong, jenga and an unused game of Twister was around for amusement and a prize was won for hula hoops.
Another great outing for the peeps of Unilocal and for our fearless leader Matt.

Great place to come and play! This was a great elite event for the fall. Everything was clean and drinks were on point. The kitchen, bathrooms, and Bar areas were spotless. Very airy and open great social spot!
I’d definitely have a party here or come to hang out. It’s very low key

I never realized how much Cards against Humanity can be use as ice breaker with strangers! This was so much fun!
Union/​Pine has an awesome event space to host such fun gaming party. We had couple of rounds of intense Uno and couple with delicious cocktail, it was an awesome night. Thank you Matt for organizing the event and Lee for hosting us!

Certainly one of the best ways to get the crowd to mingle at a big event space is to simply play Cards Against Humanity with a twist. The elites with the black cards would go around and pose with the non elites their card combos. It was fun going around talking to new folks and seeing what matched up best. One of my room mates introduced me to Buffalo Trace last week so I was very honored to have it paired 3 distinctive cocktails. The gentlemen press was my cocktail of choice since it had ginger ale in the drink.
There was plenty of candy and pizza so it was nice to have a blend of savory of sweet that went with the drinks. It was also great to see an old friend who returned to Portland after a short period of absence. The hulu hoop contest drew the whole crowd and it was impressive how well the contestants lasted.
Thanks again to Base Camp Brewery, Buffalo Trace, even a cameo from Don B., and Matt for throwing a hilarious and entertaining party — cheers!
